Masked Flirt: He's My Equal, She's My Match
Chapter 53: Audition Success, Another Heist
CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53: AUDITION SUCCESS, ANOTHER HEIST
"Olivia, are you nervous?"
Rae Zander pulled her to find an empty seat and asked while looking around.
Olivia Song pursed her lips, her tone still gentle but with a hint of arrogance.
"Not nervous, don’t forget I have the Song Manor behind me."
At an audition, if I don’t pass, I’ll just bring in some financial backing.
Rae Zander suddenly understood, disdainfully meeting the gaze of those looking at them, she sneered lightly.
Olivia is a Song family heiress; landing a role is a piece of cake.
Soon, staff members noticed the two of them and asked business-like, "Which company are you from, and what’s your audition number?"
Olivia Song wasn’t flustered in the slightest. She calmly opened the director’s Weibo and spoke softly, "We’re newcomers; the director’s Weibo mentioned that the audition doesn’t consider experience, anyone who wants can audition."
After speaking, she handed over her phone to prove she was right.
Seeing this, the staff reluctantly handed them a number plate, then walked away.
...
"Director Wang, what did you think of the few who auditioned just now?"
Producer Sun Xiaodong asked the person next to him.
At this moment, Director Wang was frowning, constantly leafing through the script in his hand. Hearing the question, he responded less than enthusiastically, "None of them work. They don’t have the feeling I’m looking for."
Sun Xiaodong waved his hand, "That’s okay, there are more auditions ahead, let’s continue watching."
People waiting outside noticed the poor expressions of those coming out after auditioning and realized they were likely rejected.
Because of this, they were secretly happy, the more that were rejected, the better their chances.
Suddenly.
The sharp sound of high heels rang out abruptly, everyone turned towards the sound, and upon seeing who arrived, they held their breath.
Was Director Wang’s new drama that popular? Why did she come too?
"Charlotte, are you interested in this drama too?" a third-tier actor stood up and asked.
Charlotte Shaw, the recently popular young actress who rose to fame with the drama "Listen to Me, I Love You" after five years in the industry.
"It’s alright," Charlotte spoke blandly.
Now everyone’s mood started getting tense; they were just second-tier or lesser known actors, unable to compete with a star who already brought a lot of attention.
Olivia Song noticed the arrival, her expression changed slightly but quickly returned to normal, gently looking at Charlotte surrounded by people.
Charlotte immediately noticed Olivia Song; she had a bad feeling about her. Having spent five years in the entertainment circle, Charlotte was quite shrewd at judging people.
With that in mind, she withdrew her gaze indifferently and found a random place to sit.
"Olivia, should we go say hi?"
"No need, judging by Charlotte’s expression, she doesn’t like that."
After a moment, a staff member respectfully approached speaking cautiously.
"Miss Shaw, Director Wang heard you were here and asked for you to come inside."
Charlotte nodded and followed him into the room, leaving envious glances behind.
"Director Wang invited her personally; I guess we’re out of luck."
"Isn’t this the kind of treatment a rising star gets? I want it too."
"She doesn’t need this script, what’s she competing with us lesser-knowns for?"
The group of women spoke sourly, Olivia Song suddenly gripped her phone tightly and left.
...
"It’s really you. What made you come to my audition," Director Wang faced the person in front of him with a friendly attitude, grinning.
Charlotte Shaw’s aloof expression faded, breaking into a radiant smile.
"Everyone in the circle is rushing to be a part of Director Wang’s drama, I’m no exception."
Although she exaggerated a bit, Director Wang smiled even wider hearing this, "Shall we try a scene?"
After speaking, he handed over the script, Charlotte calmly read it and agreed.
The scene she needed to perform was about Rosalind Gale’s disappointment yet determination after being abandoned.
Five minutes later, her performance ended.
Director Wang smiled with satisfaction, just as he was about to speak, Sun Xiaodong took a call, his expression changed, nodding repeatedly saying "Okay."
Ending the call, Sun Xiaodong glanced at Charlotte then spoke quietly in Director Wang’s ear, "Someone from above inserted someone, they’re designated for the lead actress."
From Charlotte’s angle, she only saw the producer saying something to the director, then the director’s face turned dark.
After these years, she wasn’t clueless, apparently, this role was likely gone.
Director Wang apologetically said, "Miss Shaw, I’m sorry, why don’t you head back first."
"It’s alright," Charlotte nodded, turning to leave, but ran into a girl at the door.
She squinted, it really was that girl.
Olivia Song’s eyes showed pride, she smirked as if mocking Charlotte.
"Oh."
Charlotte huffed coldly, walking out.
"Although you’re the one specified by the investors, if the acting isn’t there, I’d rather not shoot," Director Wang said with a very poor expression.
Just when he’d found a satisfactory candidate, one who also brought her own popularity, and now she’s getting sidetracked like this.
Olivia Song responded, beginning her audition scene.
Once she finished performing, Director Wang’s expression barely improved, "Your acting is average, never mind, report to the crew next Monday."
"Alright, thank you, Director," Olivia happily agreed.
...
"Olivia, how did it go," on the way back, Rae Zander couldn’t help but ask.
Though knowing the Song family had made arrangements, what if the director refused?
Olivia Song smirked, proudly lifting her chin, "Starting next week."
"That’s great, congratulations Olivia," Rae clapped, as if she was the one selected.
...
At the Yazhu.
Claire Green sat on the floor, Julian Sia leaned down, softly explaining the problem-solving methods from the material.
"Claire, do you understand?"
Claire Green lazily twirled her pen, nodding casually, "Got it."
"Do this page for me to see,"
Julian Sia pointed at the material leisurely, his clear voice unhurried.
Claire Green lowered her eyes, flicked her pen, and slowly started calculating.
Observing her entire calculation process, Julian Sia was helpless, completely deviating from the four answer options.
"Done," Claire Green handed over the material and wanted to get up to leave but was pulled back.
"Where do you think you’re going, you didn’t get a single question correct, continue."
Julian Sia casually raised his eyelids, pulling her back to sit.
"Brother, aren’t you busy lately?"
Claire Green cast aside the pen he handed over, speaking blandly.
"I am, but I’m tutoring you," Julian Sia said leisurely, looking at her.
Claire Green pinched her eyebrows, thinking, why is this man so obsessed with tutoring?
"I’m tired."
Julian Sia was about to speak, but upon seeing the misty exhaustion in her eyes, the words he intended to say swallowed away.
He gently said, "Go rest."
Claire Green trudged sluggishly upstairs.
She opened her phone and saw a string of missed calls.
She raised an eyebrow, someone’s bringing money.
Immediately returning the call, the other side quickly answered, probably holding the phone all along.
"Finally, you picked up!" Drake White’s voice remained rough.
"Speak."
Drake White gulped before laughing slyly, "I’m planning another raid."
Claire Green paused with the phone, leisurely saying, "Is it the Sia Manor again?"
"That’s right, will you join?" Drake White’s voice was filled with anticipation.
The last time he raided the Sia Manor’s goods, it made him a fortune; he’d heard this batch was even better, how could he not raid it?
Claire Green said meaningfully, "No, why are you always targeting the Sia Manor?"
"Because their goods are good, buddy, I’ll pay ten times the price."
Drake White always believed one principle: nothing money can’t solve; if there is, it’s just that there’s not enough money offered.
Ten times indeed, Claire Green touched her chin, considering her brother’s financial capacity, he wouldn’t care about losing a batch.
"Alright, I’ll handle it."
"I knew it, you take care of it then," Drake White, wearing a knowing expression, smirked broadly.
