CHAPTER 325: EPISODE 30.6 SHOWDOWN BETWEEN S-CLASS AWAKENERS!

Chairman Mao watched as his massive lightning-tornado spell got eaten by the huge toad.

Something is wrong here!

"You call your toad Jin Chan, but it is wrong in many aspects! For starters, the legendary Jin Chan has three legs, not three tentacles! It is a symbol of wealth and is commonly depicted biting on a golden coin! That is a far cry from your grotesque toad!" Chairman Mao roared while taking flight.

The Cardinal of Avarice snorted, revealing an amused and condescending smirk, "I didn’t expect you to be sweating about the unimportant things. The rumours are true. You are indeed an eccentric awakener!"

"That is why," The man’s feet shifted to a jumping stance. The rough skin of the toad underneath his feet contorted to the unreleased force.

"Qwaaark!"

"I will teach you an important lesson that you are at a disadvantage against me!" The Cardinal of Avarice jumped a very high jump, looking like he was soaring to the sky!

Chairman Mao threw the wind blades at the charging enemy, "Huh? You will teach me? You are too young to be my teacher!"

He then conjured scattered droplets of water and threw them next. "You are nothing but prey to me."

True enough, Chairman Mao is just toying with the cardinal. His wind blade is sharper and heavier than the first ones, so the cardinal unsheathed his sword and used it to parry the lethal gusts.

It was a long blade with intriguing properties. Long, sharp, highly malleable yet durable, the Cardinal could wave it around like it were a whip.

Utilising his golden sword aura, Chairman Mao’s wind attacks were successfully parried!

However...

"Shit! My eyes!" It does not matter if his whip-like sword could defend against heavy attacks; Chairman Mao’s drizzle could easily slip through his defences and provide a chance to go for a kill!

A strong whirlwind pushing his back, Chairman Mao dove straight to his enemy. He charged his right fist with his strongest lightning and landed a solid punch on the cardinal’s stomach.

"Ugh!" The Cardinal of Avarice flew back to the ground. He took quite a lot of damage from that attack. However, that does not mean it is the end for him.

Jin Chan, his tamed massive toad, caught him using its tentacle, and it attacked Chairman Mao to stop him from pursuing.

"What a good pet toad," Chairman Mao ironically complimented the giant monster. Tamed beasts like these are known for saving the person they bond with. That is why...

Chairman Mao propelled himself to dive faster. He made sure his descent was quick enough to create afterimages.

Never mind the tentacles hunting him, the toad could not even open its mouth to receive the overwhelming damage he was about to inflict!

Boom!

Chairman Mao hit the mountain-like toad like a missile. The beast cried in pain, but the old chairman was far from over. He once again soared to the sky and targeted the falling cardinal.

"Hell no, you will not take me easily," The Cardinal of Avarice used the falling tentacle as a footing and to the chairman’s surprise, he cut the tentacles of his tamed beast!

The toad cried more horribly this time.

"What the— you heartless trash!" Chairman Mao exclaimed in shock. "You turned your blade against the beast who saved you!"

"Why are you angry? It is just barely serving its purpose for being here," The Cardinal of Avarice smugly said. The animal blood on his blade merged with his sword aura, and it instantly healed the man’s injury.

’So that is his golden aura’s special attribute,’ Chairman Mao muttered to himself. It is not as destructive as Bai Tingfeng’s Perpetual Light, but it is quite troublesome.

What a disgustingly broken ability!

If he were not careful, this fight would turn into a battle of attrition! That is disadvantageous for mages like him with a finite mana reserve!

A toad that devours magic, a self-healing swordmaster, Chairman Mao sighed. He is in an uphill battle.

The Cardinal of Avarice smirked in self-satisfaction upon seeing the reaction of the old chairman.

To spite Chairman Mao more, he goaded, "I’ve spent a lot of money on our lab to create it. Don’t you think that I should get my money’s worth?"

Chairman Mao felt repulsion like no other. Animal experiments to produce an artificial, mutated beast are banned by the World Hunters’ Organization due to their unethical nature. During these experiments, animals are subjected to harsh situations, torture, and other activities that often result in death.

Chairman Mao could only imagine the torture that the giant toad had to go through just to become this huge and grotesque. The forced mutation must be the reason for the murky energy he saw using his Azure Eyes.

The Cardinals are the most revolting kind of people Chairman Mao had ever met. He truly feels sick in the stomach.

"You betrayed the innocent soul who trusted and bonded with you despite the torture it experienced in your care. Do you still have a soul?!"

The two S-class awakeners clashed mid-air.

Inside, Mo Lihua navigated the prison smoothly. She saved several people along the way, beat up criminals to unconsciousness and shoved them back to their cells.

She did not have any problems dealing with awakeners weaker than her.

Her divine red flames burned the higher levels of the Diyu, and didn’t take 30 minutes for her to deal with the prisoners below S-class.

"If beating criminals were this easy, then I don’t get the hype Shen Yuan is receiving." Mo Lihua flipped her long hair.

She is on her way down to where S-class awakeners are held.

The foxfire beast indicated that it was terrible there, but she doesn’t feel so concerned since she received a confidence boost from her smooth sailing journey.

Besides, if her opponent is an S-class mind controller and its victims, then she can easily trash that person’s brainwashed victims as usual to incapacitate them. After that, she would strike the mastermind directly!

With her high latent mana and strong mental strength, Mo Lihua is confident that she will not fall under Bruno Rivera’s ability.

"I will make sure he will be my trophy that will overshadow Shen Yuan’s overinflated achievements," She said, fire of motivation burning inside her.

The elevator opened with a ding, and soon a scene of hellish chaos appeared before her.

Unconscious people lying on the floor, ashes and pieces of burnt clothes littered all over the place, broken weapons. This scenario is slightly better than the "deadman’s land" upstairs, but for some reason, she felt more intense residual energy here than upstairs.

The foxfire beasts did put up a fight.

"Kiiii!" Foxfire beasts’ cry attracted her attention at the same time she felt air swooshing right next to her.

The two beaten foxfire beasts lay helplessly against the crumbling wall. Their looks are way worse than the third one, who retreated first as the mana depletion became obvious. The last chunk of mana they have could only barely sustain their form.

"Ahhh! Damn it, right after I beat the shit out of those little fuckers, another problem showed up," Bruno Rivera’s cold voice sounded. He looked haggard with several scratches and a mild burn on his face. "I don’t have any firepower to waste. Goddamned it."

"It’s good to see that you already sent yourself to prison. Bruno Rivera, brace yourself because I—"

A sickening green light swept the surroundings. All of a sudden, Mo Lihua found herself unable to speak.

’What is going on?!’ She screamed, panicking inside her head.

Cold sweat drenched her forehead as she felt an immense sense of crisis. She struggled to regain her control, but despite her efforts, she was unable to break through.

Bruno Rivera’s mental power is way beyond hers! Her! An S-class mage!

"Shut the fuck up." Bruno Rivera started using his abilities on Mo Lihua. "I already wasted plenty of my time. Stop disturbing me and follow me as your leader."

’No!’ Mo Lihhua mentally struggled, but like a helpless little lamb, Bruno Rivera’s control overpowered her.

"Yes," She ultimately said, completely under the man’s control. Mo Lihua walked towards Bruno and stood beside him.

Now, Bruno Rivera is unstoppable.

He made his way to the lowest level of Diyu. Right where Rin, the Cardinal of Envy, is held isolated.

The cell he is in was now covered with thick metal walls that use mana-dispersing technology, making it impossible to use abilities from within and highly durable from exterior attacks.

Chairman Mao already tested it. Attacks from S-class mages could hardly make a dent in the cell.

No weapons in today’s military arsenal could destroy it, as normal mana stones used in weapons could only provide a limited energy output. Only when an intense and continuous power is used can a hole be made in the prison cell.

"Thankfully, these prototypes from Country A are powered by hyper-reactive mana stones. Not only will they provide the power needed, but they could also sustain the discharge for quite some time," Bruno Rivera lifted the two arm cannons, one looking all brand new while the other is full of scratches courtesy of the foxfire beasts.

"Now! It is time for you to wake up, Cardinal of Envy!" Bruno Rivera roared, and a strong mana laser shot out from the cannons.
