CHAPTER 289: CHAPTER 192: TO MAKE A DECENT LIVING (VOTE FOR MONTHLY TICKET)
"Rein Jia’er, try to get Big Black Face and the others out," Qin Shou said into the communicator.
In the cave’s corner, Rein Jia’er heard this and his lion-like face twitched.
"Master, aren’t you sending me to deliver braised lion heads? If I get caught, I’m dead."
"Relax, I’ve got Little Brother keeping an eye on things. You’ll be fine."
"Really?"
"Of course. With the bond we have, I’d betray Big Big Wolf before I’d betray you."
"Mm-hmm, Master, I trust you. Wait for my good news."
Thrilled, Rein Jia’er entered stealth mode and tiptoed toward Su Liang and Yan Bo.
"Auuuuugh..."
Godzilla No.2, a towering sixty-meter-high Godzilla, seemed to sense something and suddenly turned its massive head toward the invisible Rein Jia’er.
"Krrr..."
Feeling a vague sense of oppression, Rein Jia’er froze in his tracks, his body stiffening as he cautiously turned to look at Godzilla.
It’s over. He’d been discovered.
Godzilla No.2’s eyes lit with interest and began walking toward Rein Jia’er.
"Auuugh!"
At that moment, Little Brother let out a timely roar, diverting Godzilla No.2’s attention.
Seizing the opportunity, Rein Jia’er lunged forward, grabbing the half-dead Su Liang and Yan Bo and dodged swiftly into the lake.
"Auuugh..."
Godzilla No.2 turned its head, realizing the amusing little thing had disappeared, and furiously raised a massive hand to slap down on Little Brother’s head.
"Hrrrr..."
Giant Godzilla growled deeply. Godzilla No.2, sensing something wasn’t right, instead lightly patted Little Brother’s head, grinned, and began mumbling incomprehensibly.
...
At the lake, Rein Jia’er emerged, dragging two strands of green vine, at the ends of which Su Liang and Yan Bo were tied. Shortly afterward, he swam to the shore.
On the shore, Kazek grabbed the two men while Rein Jia’er shook off the water and leaped onto Kazek’s back, rushing toward Qin Shou’s bamboo forest.
Half an hour later, Kazek dropped the two off at the Capsule Apartment.
Qin Shou, who had been waiting, quickly stepped in, handing them over to Big Big Wolf to assess their injuries.
"How are they? Dead?" Qin Shou asked.
Big Big Wolf, dressed in a white coat, listened to their heartbeats before doing a scan.
"Dear Master, don’t worry. Their bodies are severely burned, their energy nearly depleted. As their injuries worsen, within three days, they’ll definitely croak," Big Big Wolf laughed.
Qin Shou, furious, smacked Big Big Wolf’s head.
"Shut up! I didn’t say I wanted them dead. What are you laughing at?"
Big Big Wolf looked aggrieved, "Dear Master, at least tell me clearly..."
"Stop babbling. Save them."
"Oh, oh... Saving them is easy. Just inject Groot’s Life Energy into their bodies. Not only will it heal their injuries, but it will also restore their Star Power. They should be awake in a few days."
Qin Shou nodded, releasing Groot as dozens of green vines wrapped around the two, pouring a brilliant green light into them.
Seeing no reaction from them, Qin Shou said, "Groot, they’re still not green enough. Step it up."
"Mm-hmm."
Groot nodded earnestly, focusing intently on making them greener.
Nearby, Big Big Wolf drooped his dead-fish eyes and picked his nose, "Dear Master, you’re acting weird."
...
The next day, Su Liang and Yan Bo were still unconscious.
Qin Shou ate a Mutuo Egg for breakfast, flew for about an hour, and finally arrived at the island’s edge.
"Boom rumble rumble..."
At the coast, endless raging waves lashed out at the sea. The storm seemed to connect heaven and earth, enclosing all of Skull Island at its core.
Amidst the black storm, lightning cracked wildly, flashes of dense electricity savagely tearing through it. Anything attempting to enter Skull Island would become a target for the Thunderstorm’s attacks.
Qin Shou’s face was filled with shock as he stared at the endless Thunderstorm in disbelief.
"This... This divine-like power—how did the exploration teams and mercenaries fly in here centuries ago?"
He speculated: either for plot purposes, or in the past few centuries, the Thunderstorm’s power had surged drastically due to Earth’s Core Energy, leading to the current situation.
Such terrifying storms only permitted Giant Godzilla to pass freely; Godzilla No.2 would likely struggle significantly.
To leave Skull Island, he would have to use the Space Channel.
As Qin Shou was lost in thought, a Monkey Avatar flew over.
"Lao Qin, come on, I’ll take you to a fun place," said the Monkey Avatar as it grabbed Qin Shou.
"Hold on, where are we going?" Qin Shou asked.
The Monkey Avatar scratched its head, chuckled, "Lao Qin, the place is great. There’s booze, and lovely ladies too—you won’t regret it."
Qin Shou’s face darkened, "Brother Monkey, the ’lovely ladies’ you mention—are they just female Golden Monkeys?"
"Cheh! Do you think I, Old Sun, am that kind of guy? Do ordinary female monkeys even catch my eye?" the Monkey Avatar snorted.
"Then what ’ladies’ are you talking about?" Qin Shou asked, curious.
Monkey Monsters?
Mutated gorillas?
"Thwap!"
Suddenly, as the Monkey Avatar scratched itself, a "magazine" fell from it, catching Qin Shou’s attention.
"Brother Monkey... you... you’re really *that* kind of monkey?" Qin Shou stared wide-eyed, in disbelief.
What had he seen?
The aesthetic tastes of this primate were truly...
The Monkey Avatar hurriedly picked up the magazine, its face turning as red as its shiny behind.
"Don’t look! It’s not mine—it belongs to my main body. I’m just a clone; it’s got nothing to do with me."
Qin Shou twitched his lips. Was there even a difference?
...
Following the Monkey Avatar between mountainous terrain, within two hours, Qin Shou saw a defense fortress built out of Monster skeletons standing tall on the canyon.
Landing not far from the fortress, Qin Shou raised a brow, suddenly recalling the human tribe that lived on Skull Island in the movies.
After all these years, had the tribe survived?
Qin Shou stared at the imposing Beast Bone Fortress, rubbing his chin.
With Earth’s Core Energy erupting, had the tribal humans on Skull Island also discovered Star Power?
If not, how could they have harvested so many Monster bones to construct the fortress?
"Lao Qin, that’s the fun place I mentioned," Monkey Avatar said happily.
Qin Shou glanced at the excited Monkey Avatar and smirked sourly.
"The women in that tribe look like ghosts—they’d surely match your aesthetic."
Monkey Avatar looked puzzled, "Lao Qin, I didn’t know your standards were so high. No wonder you’ve stayed single. Respect!"
"Eh, whatever. How do we get in?"
"Easy. I tone down my monkey look. You do whatever you want."
With that, the Monkey Avatar transformed into a graceful, elegant ancient-styled man clad in a gray mink coat.
"Mei Changsu?"
Qin Shou gave a start. Shameless Monkey!
The Monkey Avatar shed its scratching demeanor, occasionally coughing into its sleeve, appearing weak and delicate.
"Cough, cough, Lao Qin, how do I look?" Monkey Avatar asked, feigning seriousness.
Qin Shou covered his face, "Fine, fine. Let’s go in, but I’m warning you—no antics."
"Of course." Monkey Avatar bowed lightly, oozing charm with every gesture.
"You’re surprisingly convincing," Qin Shou muttered as he boarded a bamboo boat with Monkey Avatar, heading toward the Beast Bone Fortress.
Soon, the boat was stopped by the fortress’s bones. Before Qin Shou could speak, a few teenagers atop the fortress pointed at Monkey Avatar and laughed.
"Brother Mei! Let them through!"
Qin Shou looked up at the teenagers, their hair tied high, clothes simple and rugged, and speaking Huaxia in disbelief.
What was going on?
Had Skull Island crossed dimensions?
