Chapter 2696. Go Back?
CHAPTER 2696: 2696. GO BACK?
"It’s odd, you have never asked something of me before. Yet you ask now?"
"Yes, I understand that it is the first young one of your race in such a long time, yet you still asked as if it was the last young one."
"You know I do not desire such things. As a young one of my kind I was also foolish. I came to know that wrongness of my race and those who pursued your race’s destruction. Now I join you and foster the life here. I still ask, why this one, and those lower than them?"
"I see... the only one born at the center and able to rise to match. You believe this one will have the same strength then?"
These words couldn’t have been heard by anyone other than those speaking. Yet, Walker could feel someone was speaking about him. He didn’t know why that thought came through while he was trying to focus on the life mana.
His body was reacting and he was feeling more awake. More energetic than he had in a long time.
Energetic? Was that really where his mind was going? Walker’s self questioning only grew as he realized that he was thinking a little too fast. Or was it his heart beating too fast? Or was it his mana moving too fast?
Actually , it was everything that felt like it was moving faster. It was rushing through as if he had never been able to move at any speed slower before. But it wasn’t really speed, it was just more than he expected. More than he was used to. Like someone had put him in a cart running downhill after being pulled slowly inching up that hill for days.
Every single bit of him felt like he was given water when standing in a desert. Like a plant that hadn’t had water for weeks, he was finally graced with rain.
It only compounded the more that Walker realized that every bit of life mana ambient was being pulled in to his body and he was becoming more deeply aware of his own life mana and every mana within his body. Whether he had recognized it or not, the natural mana stored within his body that he broke apart in to the basic elemental manas was also filled with life mana and space mana. While the other mana she wished to sense more closely were still a mystery to him, life mana right now was all too clear.
Yet, he also felt that he could resonate that life mana with other manas and skill. He was seeing pure life mana that was held and now allowed to flow toward him. It was like a guiding hand allowing him the opportunity at enlightenment.
And with that small control he had over the life mana in his body and the light mana flowing toward him, Walker tried what he felt would be foolish not to try.
He tried to store some within the multi dimensional storage.
To him, this became a wall. A massive blockade that he had no idea why it was so hard to push even the tiniest bit of life mana in to a high dimensional storage devoid of other mana. Walker could make such a thing. He was capable of opening another smaller multi dimensional storage space that would have nothing within. If he kept the space even smaller, he could make it accept only one form of mana and not even allow it to be anything more than what it was but mana stored there.
The idea wasn’t to make a special storage space, but he did comprehend the potential of that before he had made it this far. Instead, Walker wanted to have some of the pure life mana influencing his body right now to study. That would allow his understanding to grow. Allow for him to grasp what life was.
To feel the primordial aspect that life brought when it bonded with other mana. How it created races. How plants could possibly sprout and come in to being. How some materials could gain manas and become golems or monsters. How everything could potentially become more than an inanimate or unintelligent being.
The moment that Walker felt the life mana settle and stop revolving through his body, he and the party were torn away back to a fair distance from the life elemental plane. "That is the glimpse you are allowed. Now venture on or return to your world. You are much too weak to be delving in to such things." the voice came like a librarian who had just heard someone shout in their library. It was telling them what they had done wrong and expected rules to be followed no matter what.
"Wait what about-"
"That is all. You have been allowed to view and that is all." They felt yet another rush of mana before they found the entire area had been changed to yet a different scene. Different elemental planes floated in the distance while the sparkling golden green life mana was nowhere to be seen.
"That was amazing but also terrifying." Remey would have normally cracked her knuckles and talked about wanting to punch something. But right now she felt that she was just too small to even consider fighting something they couldn’t see.
However, Walker had seen something in the end. That life mana circulating through his body had enhanced what he was in terms of race. He hadn’t realized that being in the world had given him such a great chance to see all manas. Yes he could see manas in the air and how they flowed because he had trained his mana senses to do so.
Now though, he could actually see the other manas. That life mana had allowed him to gain some sight in to ambient space mana, life mana, death mana, and the odd blue translucent flickering he had realized must be the most infinitesimal piece of time mana he had ever seen. Not that he could focus on it, whenever he tried to do so with time mana it was gone. More like it was mocking him or playing a joke. Just keeping right out of reach.
"That was a void walker. A race of near extinct beings that can use space to walk through the chaotic mana and not be harmed. They can also use space to isolate a singular mana and allow it to grow, to flourish. I only saw the hand that grabbed us to move us away from the life elemental plane and I am pretty sure it let me glimpse it just so I knew that I could not do anything about it."
Most of what Walker had seen from the appraisal he had done was unreadable. Just phrases that spoke more about philosophy or the idea of something rather than actual fact or comprehensible knowledge. Meaning that the void walker might be a being not made of mana and physicality in the same way that Walker could comprehend at this point in time. Existence didn’t block the information, it didn’t need to do anything like that because Walker couldn’t piece it together or understand it.
But what he did gather was enough to understand that the age of that being was more than what he had ever seen. Also, that that being served the entire origin race not just one origin being.
"You saw it?"
"Only for a brief second. It let me because it wanted to show me. I doubt we will ever meet it again but that was something born outside of everything we can possibly see or explore. Its race is nearly existing in all that is." There was a sad undertone in Walker’s words. He could feel that it was not something light to speak allowed. It carried a weight beyond just what would be said for an extinct species in the world.
"I think I want to go back." It was Su who spoke up. Clearly, she had been given a lot to think about with that influence of life mana. The others also had the same inklings as to how they could grow and how they had just managed to establish a denser foundation of what and who they were.
"I need to see space, death, and if possible time elemental planes. I still need to see more." Walker on the other hand had his own profound experience but needed more. He could feel that he needed more too.
"Then we see more!" Midnight didn’t mind holding off. This was fun. She was seeing things she could tell the hatchlings about. She was seeing things other dragons couldn’t dream about. Why would she stop? The others saw and felt the attitude and understood that they could contemplate more later. If they wanted, they might even be able to get more information and move even further forward. So it was right, why stop now?
