Master Of None
Chapter 2713 2713: 2713. Small Improvements
"This one helps swimming speed by coating the body in a small bit of water mana. This brooch allows for the user to better absorb light mana. This necklace helps enhance healing skills by calming the mind. You have been making a lot of accessories like this, is it because everyone is trying to grow and these will help them in their daily goals too?" Walker saw a small nod from the wandering blacksmith.
The idea that any blacksmiths might be focusing on accessories with magical effects not out of the ordinary was interesting. The accessories could be added to whatever their specialized armor or basic everyday clothing covered. Meaning that the accessory to help calm the mind for healing skills would be massively useful for a young healer or even for an experienced healer during an emergency situation when their mind would be racing.
On the other hand, when it came to the accessory that assisted in swimming, that would be perfect for the younger soldiers learning to swim and work around the water territory. Not everyone who had the ability to wield water mana had the knowledge to be able to swim, they had to learn. For those learning, this would be a nice help through that process until they were at a level of familiarity that they could upgrade accessories to be more specified.
In all rights, having general use accessories like this was not necessarily the normal production route for the wandering blacksmith. He usually made more unique and interesting items. However, the wandering blacksmith had become much more open in terms of speaking to the crafting guild and even teaching. If he were to sell accessories that helped a wide variety of people who were not combat oriented, then other crafters might do so as well expanding the market on accessories helping the general public.
Just the accessories that could be used by farmers to help resist the hot sun would be a huge benefit to the growing farmers who had less experience and needed more time to adapt to the life of a farmer. It also might help merchants and those traveling for the first time. Not to mention any others who might need such a thing for their own daily lives. It was all about the overall benefit and increase in quality of life.
It might not be immensely important, but it held value and that was the point, it would help everyone.
"I hope that you keep sharing these with people." Walker did not push or ask any more questions. It was a good thing to see and he knew very well that the wandering blacksmith was busy. So, he gave a wave and let him be. Right now he and the party were not in need of anything, so he would not distract or take the wandering blacksmith away from those who wished to get new equipment for their own goals.
This did seem to make a few of those in line frown though, they had hoped that Walker was there to make items for them. But unfortunately for them, crafting was not on Walker's priority list. He also needed to stop by and pick up some heavier and more delicate materials while he was at things. Not to mention, when he got to the elemental teleportation rune formations he would speak to the rune carvers about his new in sights on space magic and spatial runes. He knew very well that his added knowledge could lead to a breakthrough in rune formations that required less elemental mana and also would not damage the formation or the materials the formation was made on as much.
Once on the street again, Walker saw a few small changes. Some stress near the market streets had been set up with areas for carts to wait that would not cause any traffic jams. It was a small change to where stalls could be placed outside of some buildings, but a very beneficial one. Otherwise, he saw that there were more barrels used for general trash. That would help toward future cleanliness of the entire city which was something that had been a focus since Genesis was being built at first.
He also noticed a small group of mages, some water and some light, but also a few with water and light dual affinities. This wouldn't have been standing out to them if he hadn't caught their conversation.
He realized as they spoke about different canals and the water in them, that this was a group of mages responsible for purifying the water moving through Genesis. They visited certain canals and cast their cleansing magic on them to ensure that the water was not being polluted by any run off from rain or watering of plants within the city. It was a very good squad to have moving through Genesis since some areas near shops would be dusty, covered in sawdust, or just have ash that gets washed away by rain or cleaning.
This made him look even more carefully only to realize that there were also groups of tour guides. People met merchant caravans and traveling groups at the entrance square to the main city who were waiting to see if they could act as a tour guide. It was a smart little business since Genesis was not small by any means and many people would struggle even using a map. Especially if they had to go to the underground section of the city or wanted help moving through the night life of Genesis.
All things seemed to be improving within Genesis at every level. It wasn't just the larger projects making advancements, everyone was remembering the small details now. The smallest details could make the most difference in a time of need. Just having items and goals that improved daily life would make the entire population happier and healthier. That alone was something to hold pride in.
"Walker!" Turning around, Walker saw that it was Su patrolling with a group of very young looking guards. They seemed fresh faced but excited to be following Remey for a patrol route.
"Looks like you found the first group to teach some of the new shield battle styles you have improved yet again? Hm?" Knowing that Su had done exactly that as soon as she could Walker had to recognize it, but he also wanted to hear if she was working on anything else too. She was busier than many at any given time since she would also train the soldiers working with her at night so they could adapt to different situations. They were not a simple group of basic guards, they would have the chance to move through the Genesis territories and fight or defend within each one at any given time.
"I am training them, they are the newest recruits with the best scores for the written and basic tests. They even have the expedited cultural tests with the best scores so they can help multiple races." Su didn't hide her own excitement to have a new group to teach. If the recruits knew that her excitement meant more training, they might not mirror her vibrance in the matter.
"It's only a good thing that they are ready to be trained and learn a lot from you. Other than that, they should be prepared to see the leaders and their royal guards walking around, it's a good chance to learn more about the other cultures. I can't say it would be considered general information how each royal guard or elite unit guarding a leader might act."
The suggestion brightened Su's face even more. She knew that it was exactly her plan and that Walker had already started to catch on to what she wished to do with this new group of guards that she had chosen. She already had elite guards who had learned from her but while she was gone they had taken the lead of their own squads to teach and guide.
"Are you going to the new city construction now? Or will you do your speech first so you won't need to come back as much?" She knew he would give a speech but in theory it would be the last one so he could sum everything up as a leader. But it would be stressful teleporting here and there more than once.
"Well, I actually want to plan a little bit of a guiding conversation about space mana with the tune carvers. It might take a day or two so I can see myself giving the first speech instead of the last." His idea was focused on improving teleportation first, but it worked out for this too since he was obligated to give a speech for the people.
"Then I will let everyone else know. I have to register a few of these new recruits properly as a special unit." Su was off, her focus acting contagiously with the energetic recruit behind her.
