Master Of None
Chapter 2720. Familiar Face
CHAPTER 2720: 2720. FAMILIAR FACE
As Walker and midnight wandered off, Walker was not at all surprised that a different class was given for a different connection to a spirit tree. The wind spirit tree was more related to faith in the wind and the knowledge of how to pass that down. Allowing for there to be an understanding. The dark spirit tree was growing in a way that it protected the ability of those with dark affinity. It allowed them growth so having a paladin that also protected it and the things it does is very telling.
This didn’t mean he would not want to see what the other spirit trees managed to do in terms of connections. They were all developing spirits that would one day be the voices and ethereal bodies of themselves. It was just due to the high mana and the attention they received. Their deep connection to the people of Genesis and the growth of Genesis ensured it.
"Midnight, are you going to the Sigil continent with me then?" Walker felt that Midnight had started wandering at his side because she didn’t want to be left out. He also knew that she would like to explore more and the Sigil continent was also less explored than Genesis territories where she would be if she didn’t come.
"Yes!" she shouted and bumped Walker trying to get him to walk faster. It seemed that he was not on his own schedule anymore.
"Then it will be even more exciting. We can see about getting to the core of that fallen floating city and if we can learn enough to reconstruct it. I bet there will be a few monsters and maybe an undead or two in those ruins." This caught Midnight’s attention since she knew that there would be many who worked as general excavation workers. They would need protection from monsters like the undead trapped in the fallen city for however many years it has been since it touched the ground.
"The others might not come at all since they are busy. I haven’t even seen Alice since she returned to the cathedral. I heard there are too many new healers, nuns, and light warrior candidates looking to be tested or taught." This was all due to the fact that the ways of whaling were becoming more and more varied. So many different forms of healer needed documentation and education. All taking Alice’s time from anything else she might want to do.
"I do think that she might make them expedition for the Sigil continent and live around the construction area and excavation area. That would give all of the younger healers constant opportunity to grow and learn how to care for the injured." Larger projects would come with injuries that were unavoidable. Meaning that there was surely a way for them to learn of Alice taking this route.
Walker felt he was sure she would though. It was a great chance and she would be able to check in with him and work together too. A bonus so to speak.
"The floating islands have to be close to being able to be made in a separate modern way since we have our floating ships. But making a stable consistently floating island has been a failure so far because it would have to be made from mental and carved stone instead of a section of earth. The rune formations would not hold up otherwise. Meaning that the runes used on the floating cities are more unique somehow." This was one of the theories that had come to a conclusion amongst those studying the floating cities.
The angel race has struggled with this fact for a long time since even the two active floating cities did not have much evidence that they could utilize other rune formations or other runes in general. Repairing the tune formations had also been something impossible for them until recently too. Yet, now that they had begun to repair the runes and gather more information, the idea that there were runes made to focus the flow of mana differently with less degradation of natural material made itself clear.
In actuality, there were smaller runes allowing for the repair of the stone and earth used overall in the floating cities. It was why several smaller floating islands had returned to the whole once the rune formations had been repaired along with the potential for other aspects of floating cities to hold themselves within a link for communication and trade.
From what everyone could gather from the history of the ngel race and the ruined floating cities, at one point all the floating cities could have connected temporarily for larger events. Allowing for trade, people to travel, and also for there to be room for more development in talks for the leaders of the angel race. However, that was all in ancient times when they had moved across continents to fight monsters and other races like the immortal chasing race.
Currently, the angel race has no need for such things and has no population to uphold a war faring traveling race like that. In all terms, they were peaceful and growing, which was much better. If the time came that they would have to rebuild the ancient aspects of their combat within the floating cities then that was what it would be. But they would most likely lean on Genesis and have entirely new defensive abilities created.
Walker shook his head slightly trying to get on to a better topic though.
"What do you think it will be like? The second city should be developed pretty well. There will be some exploring to do there too since the underground section should already be built to near completion." Since it was the first aspect of the new city being built and also the foundation, it made sense that everyone would be living there while the surface level of the city was mostly under construction now.
The more that Walker and Midnight thought while walking toward the elemental rune teleportation formation, the more that Walker realized he and Midnight had not explored the construction area at all since they had been too busy. It meant that they might be able to grab a little more new knowledge when it came to new building techniques and even the changes in city planning for building. It could be a lot more fun than what they had expected.
"Hey!" The shout was a familiar voice that Walker and Midnight hadn’t seen in a while. Someone who was expected to be too busy to be walking the road back to the central Genesis city from the dark territory. Yet, when Walker and Midnight turned around, they realized that the slow walk had allowed for a small set of carriages carrying various woods and ores to catch up to them.
"It’s been a while but I think we will see more of each other soon." Rodney was easily a foot taller than the last time Walker had seen him. A growth spurt plus the hard work within the crafting guild as one of the top managers proved to be all for the good of his personal growth.
"You are looking good. Glad you are growing in to your role." Walker knew that Rodney still had one of the rare classes that allowed for specifically crafting with dragon materials above what others might be able to do. But Rodney has also been working harder than just about anyone to make the entire crafting guild move together in one direction rather than be various forms of crafting divided and competing with one another. If there was anyone within Genesis that could represent the crafting guild as a whole, it was Rodney, and many people knew it despite his younger age.
"I am! It’s been busy since a lot of the basements being dug with connections to the underground city have been found to have decent small ore deposits or the land clearing has plenty of wood we can use. But a lot of this is being stockpiled to be brought as material for the new city. You are heading there soon too, right?"
Knowing that they would have the chance to catch up with Rodney, Walker and Midnight started to chat about the building going on. It also appeared that Rodney knew of the materials used to attempt to repair the floating cities of the Angels. Meaning that he had been there to evaluate things. "I gained a skill called project appraisal. I can guess the amounts of materials needed and even share the information if I record it using a magic scroll."
With this comment made, Walker realized that Rodney might have gained more to his unique class. Something set to guide the crafting guild. He just needed to ask him but Rodney was going on and on about unique material needs and rune crafter availability. His bright and cheery attitude had not disappeared but increased!
