CHAPTER 296: GIVING THEM SOME ALONE TIME

(Author’s POV)

"Mr. Alaric, do you need some help?" Elisa spoke, her voice coquettish. As she bent forward slightly, her areolas were visible from that place. But Alaric, without giving her any glance, dismissed her immediately, "No need."

"That’s not right. You are our honorable guest, and I would really like to help you. Please, I insist," she was adamant. This was her chance to get the second bracelet, so how could she let it go?

Alaric wasn’t in any mood to argue, he just simply ignored her presence and kept searching for the charm. But Elisa wasn’t going to back out as well. After all, she had already heard his and Brave’s conversation and was well aware of what he was looking for so desperately. Tucking her hair behind, she feigned helping him and kept asking him questions, "Is the thing you are looking for important?"

Alaric neither budged nor answered her. But she again asked, "Can you describe it to me a little? After all, more people mean more chances of finding your lost thing."

’Why is this human girl so chatty and inserting? Can’t she get a fucking hint? Sooooo~ fucking annoying. I don’t have any problem with humans, but she~ .... Arghhhh~ .... She reeks of malice,’ Alex wasn’t very fond of her. He was really pissed by her sickly sweet tone and extra coy behaviour.

Elisa tried to come closer and closer, following Alaric around. But that guy treated her just like thin air, not responding at all.

After trying out most of the delicacies and meeting Yelena’s acquaintances, Myra went to call Oswald Mitchell to say that she was going home. Oswald had already anticipated it and said, "Alright, you did well today. Go home safely." He patted her shoulder in acknowledgement, a rare smile adorning his lips.

Myra went back to Wendy and Yelena, who were waiting for her in a corner. Fabian was also there. Actually, that guy didn’t leave the girl’s side even for a second, although his phone was constantly buzzing and ringing in his pocket. There were matters he needed to deal with and look after, but in his mind, he was playing the role of Myra’s bodyguard and safeguarding her from those Lycan wolves. He wasn’t going to let any mishap affect Myra.

Though Myra was behaving normally, he could sense her unease. He recalled the CCTV footage from earlier. First of all, it wasn’t an easy task at all. With Myra’s changed and unknown appearance and the vast crowd, Fabian couldn’t find her at first.

After continuous observation, he somehow managed to find her. But by her body language and stiff, rigid steps, he could tell that something wasn’t right. So, he rushed out and reached Myra just in time, when Brave was asking for her name. Somehow, by the stroke of luck or god’s will, or maybe fate, the storm passed, and nothing happened, but it didn’t mean that he could let his guard down.

He was gawking at Myra, who was coming in his direction, his gaze never flinching from her. Yelena leaned to the side and whispered in his ear, "Don’t stare at her too much, bud. Your eyes will fall out."

"What are you saying?" Fabian snapped out of his reverie and remarked. "I was just thinking something.

"Ahaa~ .... Ahaaa~ ... I know what you are thinking. No~ ... it should be who you are thinking about. But boy, have some patience. Your eyes, your expressions, they are practically brimming with emotions. It could scare Myra off," Yelena advised. She knew that Myra didn’t look at Fabian the same way as he did, right now. Patience and effort were needed to win that blockhead’s heart, which was only filled with her family and studies.

"Was I that obvious?" Fabian asked bashfully.

"Ummhmm~ so, ease up, Mr. Lover boy," Yelena stated. Seeing that Myra was coming closer, she thought of something, and a wide grin appeared on her lips. An idea to bring these two idiots closer and give Fabian a chance to spend some time with Myra, she devised a plan on the spot.

She then leaned to the other side, where Wendy was and whispered to her, "Whatever I say to your sister right now, just agree with me, okay?"

A rare frown appeared on Wendy’s face, knitting her brows together. She looked at Yelena with perplexity. But she didn’t get a chance to ask anything or clear her doubt, as Yelena had already straightened her posture and said to Myra, "Done with it?"

"Yeah, let’s go," Myra answered. She was a little tired at this point as it had been a mentally as well as physically exhausting day to say the least. She then looked at Fabian and said, "You probably should go now as well."

Fabian wanted to see them off, but Yelena interrupted him, "Ohhh~ ...... he cannot go just yet. He has an important task to take care of."

The three of them gazed at Yelena with a confused expression as she continued, "Actually, sweetheart, there is a slight change in plan. You see, Wendy told me she wanted to go to the beach for an evening drive. So, I thought I would take her there. But don’t worry. I know you are tired as hell today and want to go home and rest. So, I won’t insist that you come with us. Wendy and I can just go to the beach in my car. AND~ ... Fabian can give you a ride home. What’s say?" She elbowed Wendy discreetly.

"Yeah, sis. I really want to visit the beach. I heard there is going to be a fireworks show as well. I would have loved it if you could come, but I know how taxing the day has been for you," Wendy joined in. She got the hint from Yelena’s words.

"No, no, it’s fine. I will come with you guys. And~ ...... it is not appropriate and proper to take more of Fabian’s time. How can he leave the seminar like that?" Myra declined.

Yelena gave Fabian a side eye and pinched his arm, without anybody noticing. Fabian then stepped up, "You don’t need to push yourself, Myra. Actually, I am already done for the day. And~ ... the fireworks show, which Wendy is talking about, will take place at least one and a half hours from now. I can take you home, and you can rest."

"I~ ... if you say so. I will trouble you, then," Myra agreed. She really wanted to go home as soon as possible.

Yelena fist pumped herself mentally. She held Wendy’s wrist and said, "Then we will be taking our leave." She winked at Fabian and leaned close to him again, whispering, "Do well, hmmm." Then, she scurried away with Wendy.

"Shall we go as well?" Fabian asked.

"Yeah, let’s go," she replied, her voice a little fatigued.

They started walking towards the main door, side by side. As they were about to reach their door, Fabian saw Alaric at some distance. He got alert and covered Myra’s vision with his body and held her hand unconsciously.

Myra asked him, "What’s up with you? Is something wrong?"

"Uhhh~ .... Nothing. I just thought you were going to fall. Come, let’s go," he kept a side eye on Alaric, who was pestered by Elisa. ’At least, that girl is sometimes useful.’ He thought.

Myra didn’t think of it much, and they both reached the gate. As they were passing by, Alaric sensed something unusual yet familiar and turned to the side, just to catch a glimpse of that girl who looked like Myra again.

Alex roared inside him, getting desperate again. Alaric, leaving everything aside, marched in that direction, his steps hasty. Elisa, sensing something wrong, held his wrist and asked, "Mr. Alaric, what happened? Where are you going all of a sudden in such a hurry?"

"Impudent human, get off me," Alaric jerked her hand away, unceremoniously and went out to catch that girl.

Elisa looked at his departing figure, her mind muddled with countless thoughts, ’Calling me, the demon queen, an impudent human. Such a felony.’ Her gaze then shifted to the pristine and clear floor, a read threat with crescent moon, similar to that of Brave’s charm, was lying there.

Her eyes lit up at the sight, and all her rage and anger calmed down, turning into something evil and malicious. She picked it up quickly and clenched it tightly in her palm, "Unexpected turn of events, yet delightful. I won’t mind this at all." A devilish smile appeared on her glossy lips. "The most difficult one is finally down. Two~ ... more to go."

She then recalled how Brave was unaffected. ’I should return to the pathway to hell to get the answer. I don’t have much time. The blood moon is going to appear in seven days’ time. I need to sleep with the Lycans before that happens. Time is crucial, so let’s head back and ask the guardian of hell for a solution.’
