CHAPTER 305: A MAN’S COAT?

(Author’s POV)

"Mom, Dad, the fireworks were just amaaazziiinggg. I have never seen something so gorgeous like that before," Wendy remarked as she and Yelena entered the house. They both had spent the night out, enjoying the fireworks and making new friends and had just returned.

"Ummhmm~ .... That’s good. You both enjoyed your time out there," Sandra said while setting the table. "Now, both of you~ ... go to your rooms, change and freshen up. I am serving breakfast and~ ... Wendy~ ... call your sister for me, hmm," she said.

"Myra? Is she still in her room? By this time, she is usually on her morning run, isn’t she?" Yelena asked, her brows knitting together with puzzlement.

"No, Sandra and I checked when we woke up, and by then, Myra was still fast asleep. She must have been tired after a long day, and we didn’t wanted to disturb her, so we didn’t wake her up," William came out of the kitchen and added.

"But it is almost seven thirty, and she has classes at nine fifteen. Plus~ ...... she isn’t someone who likes to sleep in. That’s weird." Yelena mumbled under her breath. Then she offered, "Anyways, I will go and wake her up."

"Will you? Thanks, Yelena," Sandra thanked her.

Instead of going back to her room and changing first, Yelena went straight to Myra’s room. It was doused in darkness. Even the curtains that were usually open were shut tightly. She stepped inside and switched on the lights.

The room was instantly illuminated, brightening and what Yelena saw caught her by surprise. Myra’s room, which was usually impeccably neat, clean and orderly, was quite disoriented. There was a towel on top of the duvet, which was covering Myra. The black dress she was wearing at the event was also discarded on the chair. Quite a few of her things from her study desk were scattered on the floor as well. It looked like there had been a robbery or something. But what caught Yelena’s attention the most was that there was a man’s coat, crumpled in a corner, as if someone had thrown it there on purpose. Her eyes widened in shock, "OHHH~ ...... MAHHH~ FUCKING~ ... GOSH. A MAN’S CLOTHING."

She went there to pick it up and was left speechless. On closer observation, she realized it wasn’t just any random man’s coat but Fabian’s suit jacket, which he had donned yesterday, her mouth agape.

She then looked at Myra, who was in her dreamland, sleeping peacefully, then at her discarded dress, then at the mess littered around the room and then finally at the coat in her hand and thought, ’Did Fabian finally confess or something? Did he and Myra~ ... did they move to the next step so quickly and do the adult stuff? Holy fuck.’ She was flabbergasted by that thought.

But, as soon as this thought arose in her mind, Yelena shot it down. She smacked her forehead dramatically and said, "Ayee~ hey~ ...ain’t no way something like this had happened. Even if Myra agreed to date him, she wouldn’t be getting hanky panky so quickly and cross the line. Maybe, like Myra says, my mind belongs to the garbage, hahaha. I should just ask her directly."

Placing the coat on her arm, she went straight to Myra’s bed and called out, "Wake up, wake up, lazy head and tell me what you guys have been doing. Spill the tea, Ra~ra."

Myra was still sleeping soundly. She hummed in her sleepy state and turned to the other side. Yelena tapped on her shoulder and called out to her once again, "MYRAAAAA .... MYRAAAAAA, wake up."

Still, no response came. That concerned Yelena a little, so she checked Myra’s forehead, and thankfully, there was no sign of any risen temperature.

With no choice left, she stirred Myra until she was roused from her sleep. With a bloated face, Myra opened her eyes with difficulty. Her eyes were quite swollen and puffed up. Her hair were a tangled mess.

"Ohhh, you have finally woken up, princess," Yelena said in relief.

Myra was still a little dazed. As she tried to get up, a sharp and excruciating pain made its way to her head. She clutched it with both hands, and a "tskkk" sound came out of her mouth.

Yelena asked, "What happened? You don’t seem alright." Her tone was laced with worry.

Myra tried to speak, but she felt great discomfort in her throat. It was sore. Her voice came out extremely hoarse and gravelly, "I~ .... I am just having~ a headache."

As she spoke, Yelena sensed the smell of alcohol coming from her. With a skeptical gaze, she asked, "You have been drinking?" Myra pulled at her hair with one hand and replied, while holding her temple with the other, "Yeahh~ ...... Fa~bian and I went to the beach to get some fresh air. So, I drank a little."

"You two went to the beach? Did that idiot finally say it? What was your reply to it? Were you two alone there? What happened? Tell me, tell me. I am dying to know," Yelena fired a series of questions her way.

Myra was already suffering from a severe headache. Her mind was jumbled. She gave Yelena a perplexed look and asked while her hand was massaging her temple, "What are you talking about? Who said what? I am not getting anything you are saying."

"Silly me," Yelena smacked her forehead and continued, "I am talking about Fabian. You both were together last night, right?" Yelena showed Myra Fabian’s jacket. "It’s his coat. Did you bring him to your room? Umm~mm~ ... did you guys do ~ ...... the unthinkable, hmm?" She waited for Myra’s answer like a curious cat.

Hearing Yelena’s words, Myra glanced at the coat and commented, "Hein, what kind of absurdity are you on about? Arghhhh ......"

"Then, why is Fabian’s coat in your room. Ayee~ ... don’t be shy in front of me. I won’t judge you guys at all," Yelena teased her friend. "After all, you two are my close friends."

She muttered, "I don’t know what you are rambling about."

"Then tell me, why do you have his coat?" Yelena inquired.

Myra tried to recall last night’s event. She remembered how Alaric had stopped her outside the hotel and almost recognized her. How Fabian stepped in and helped her once again. How distraught she was at that moment, and how she suggested going somewhere. She started with, "I asked him to take me to a quiet place as I wanted some fresh air. So, we went to a beach and had some drinks there. It was cloudy and chilly, so Fabian gave me his jacket to keep warm. And~ ..."

"AND~ .... What happened next?" Yelena’s ears perked up. "After that~ ...... what happened after you both got drunk? Did he say something to you?"

"After we got drunk~ ..." Myra closed her eyes and tried to reminisce. "Fabian~ ... he~ ...."

"HE~ .... Yes, yes. Go on. He~" Yelena was getting all excited on her own.

"He helped me with my footwear," Myra recalled bits and pieces.

"And~ .... What other things did he help you with?" Yelena was on the edge. Her tone was brimming with thrill.

Myra closed her eyes once again and recollected a memory where Fabian was saying something which she didn’t quite remember. And then he held her in princess style, carrying her to his car. But Myra didn’t say all this out loud, so she just said, "As I was tipsy, he helped me to his car and we drove back home."

"That’s it?" Yelena’s mouth twitched at the anti climax of the situation as she added, "So, he didn’t say anything to you last night?"

"From what I remember, no," Myra replied. Though she remembered nothing about their conversation.

"Hang on, hang on. Wait~ .... something doesn’t add up here. Why the heck is your room a mess if he just drove you home and departed? Was there a burglar who broke in?" Yelena remarked.

Myra looked around her. As Yelena mentioned, her room was a wreck. Something evoked her thoughts, but she was distracted by the knock on the door, "Sis Myra, sis Yelena .... Mom is calling you both for breakfast. Hurry up."

"You go downstairs, Wends. We will be there in five," Yelena yelled from the other side and soon Wendy’s footsteps faded away.

"My~ ... my. I completely forgot why I came here. Aunty asked me to wake you up. It is~ ...." She checked the time and said, "seven fifty now. You have a class at nine fifteen. So, get off your ass, lazy bum, freshen up and come downstairs. As for this juicy talk, we will have it during our lunch. Okay, now I need to change as well. Get up and get going. See you downstairs." Saying her piece, Yelena departed from Myra’s room.

Her eyes wandered to the wall clock as she jumped off her bed, "OHHHH SHIT~ .... I will be late."

As she stepped on the floor, she glanced at the scattered things and mumbled, "What the heck was that memory? Did a robber really come to my room?"
