    I let out a shaky breath and nodded. I didn’t trust myself to speak.

    He leaned in slowly, like he was waiting for me to flinch or pull away. When I didn’t, he pulled me closer. My heart gave a small thud, and he paused with his lips just mere inches away from mine.

    At first, I froze and didn’t know how to react or what to do. This would be the first time we’d kissed since I regained consciousness. And he’d bbeen /bpatient with me all along. And my ongoing post–trauma therapy was already producing results.

    He didn’t hold back. He sank into me like he’d been starving. I could feel the maddening, slow domination, like he wanted to relearn every single inch of my mouth, and take his fucking time doing it. My thighs pressed together on instinctb, /bclenching against the ache building in me.

    His hand slipped from the side of my face down to my waist, tugging me into him until I could feel every beat of his heart drumming against mine.
