CHAPTER 65: CHAPTER 65

"Go over there and wait for me till I’m done," Cassius pointed Rose to the table beside his own, stepping away from him.

Rose looked over and saw the table he was talking about.

"I want to sit with you," She said, already carrying over her chair to place beside Cassius’s.

Cassius frowned, "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I want to be close to you," She smiled at him, lowering herself on the chair.

Cassius stared at her, trying to figure out what she’s playing at.

"Don’t worry, I won’t disturb you. You won’t even know I’m here. I just want you to get used to my presence, how else will you fall in love with me?" She gave him a sweet smile.

Cassius knew there was no way he wouldn’t be aware of her presence beside him; he had skipped dinner because he felt like barfing due to the upsetting smell the blood in his glass was giving.

Rose, on the other hand was constantly teasing him with her scent, bog body and blood. He hoped he doesn’t hurt her before he finish studding.

He sat down, picked a scroll and quill, and drew a thick note closer. He opened the thick note and started to write on the scroll while looking at the opened note occasionally.

Rose watched him work, noticing how concentrated he was. His beautiful handwriting flowed fluidly across the scroll, his face looked super handsome as he made sure he made no mistakes.

Rose suddenly frowned as she saw Cassius pause and shut his eyes, but it was just for a second, he was back to writing like nothing happened.

She kept watching him, and as usual, she couldn’t help imagining things. She imagined meeting Cassius in a whole different storyline, maybe he’d be a charming young man who swept her off her feet and she couldnseenheresslf falling instantly for him because why not? He looked like a god.

She pictured them running round the grassy fields under the sunset, laughing and holding each other as if they couldn’t breathe if they separated from each other.

It would have been such a sweet stroy, maybe she should have read that type of novel. If she knew she would entering the novel she read, she woukd have read all those sweet, romantic stories where the male lead falls head over heels for the female lead at first glance, not some dark, unromantic, dangerously amd life-threatning story.

She sighed, accepting her fate.

However, looking back, things were not as bad as ot were when she first arrived. Maybe, if she just stopped thinking about her return and embrace her new life for once, she would get accustomed to it and before she knows it, she would have succeeded in making Cassius love her and would be on her way to freedom.

Her problem at the moment was going to be that stupid Elowen. She had wanted to back off from Cassius and not mind what he was doing with Elowen; but, right now, she wasn’t backing down, she was going to make sure Cassius was never left alone with Elowen.

She was thinking deep, trying to recall if she read about Elowen’s character but couldn’t match anyone to her.

Her attention was drawn back to Cassius when she saw that he had stopped writing again, she looked atbhis face and saw him holding the side of hisbhead and closing his eyes.

She moved her chair closer and slowly raised her hand to touch his shoulder, "Are you okay?" She asked.

Cassius slowly opened his eyes, his fingers tightening around his quill, "Go." He said quietly.

His head was swirling and his vision becoming blurry.

Rose frowned, she wanted to touch his face but Cassius slapped her hand away, "Go!" He pushed her chair away from him, turning his face away from her.

Rose groaned as her chair collided with a tall shelf, causing a heavy book to fall on her head, "Ouch!" She rubbed her head.

She suddenly heard Cassius’s chair dragging slolwy against the wooden floor and snapped her eyes to him.

She quickly stood, slowly walking toward the door as she saw walking toward her with a darkening eyes. She reached the door and pulled it, it was locked.

Her heart was pounding heavily as she watched Cassius get closer, his eyes, red.

"What’s wrong? Did I do something wrong?" Sje asked quietly, deciding to speak to him instead of running.

Cassius stood in front of her and leaned in beside her ear, "I’m hungry... I need blood," He whispered.

Rose blinked in realization.

She recalled thst he hadn’t touched his drink all night and he was supposed to he fed by now, "Do you want my -"

"No. Ask Cornelia to bring someone to me, now." He ordered and pulled her away from the door, opened it, and pushed her away, shutting it.

He balled hus fists as his fangs protrudes, he was barely hanging on a thread as her sweet scent tempted him to sink his fangs into her neck and gave her warm, sweet blood run down his thirsty throat.

But he woukd kill her, and he didn’t want to kill her. He needed her, she was his addiction. He realized that he needed Rose beside him before he could function. A minute without her was becoming like a torture to his dead soul.

He needed her.

"Cornelia, Cassius needs to feed," Rose ran into the kitchen and whispered urgently to the woman who was carefully placing dishes back to their places.

Cornelia sighed, "I knew this would happen when I saw his untouched drink," She wiped her hand on her towel and turned to face Rose.

"Where is he?" Cornelia asked.

"In his private study. He’s getting out of control," She informed.

Cornelia nodded and immediately led Rose out of the kitchen.

Rise followed her to the skaves’ quarters, but this t8ne, they headed to the men’s quater.

"Good evening, Mr. Henry, can I get two elves, please?" Cornelia asked the man behind the counter.

"Sure," The man nodded and was about to leave hus position when he saw someone walk in, "Sun! Over here, I need your help," He waved the young over.

Sun was surprised to see Rose on their quarters, "Hi, Rose, looking for someone?" He asked, smiling.

"Yes," She replied, "Can you get us two elves?" She questioned.

Sun furrowed his brows, "Why do need two -"

"Fetch them, Sun. The master needs to feed," Mr. Henry ordered him.

Sun immediately understood the situation and nodded, "In a second," He ran up the stairs.

In the next minute, he ran down with two elven young men.

"We ate ready to serve the master," they spoke quietly.

Cornelia sighed in relief, "Hurry and meet him in his private study," she said to them.

Rose watched the elven men walk out of the building and toward the castle.

"I’ll return to my duties now, Rose. I suggest you take this time off to catch some sleep, Rose. It won’t be long before he wants you," Cornelia said and walked away, bit not before giving Sun a warning look.

Rose turned to Sun, "I’ll be leaving, too," Sje said.

Sun nodded, "Can I walk with you?" He asked.

Rose thought fir a while and slowly nodded, theyr buildings were just right next to each other, only separated by the short walkway that connected them.

"Okay," She shrugged.

There was nothing wrong in letting him walk her back, he seemed like a good guy, it wouldn’t hurt to have obe friend, even though he was a vampire.

"Do u scare you," Aun asked as they walked out of the building.

Rise chuckled, "Frankly, nothing saves me anymore. I might he shocked fir a while, but once it wears away, it’s over," She replied.

"Why do you ask?" She looked at him and found him staring unblinking at her face.

Sun blinked, "Nothing. I just thought you woukd be scared of me because I’m..."

"Vampire?" Rose paused and faced him.

Sun slowly nodded, "You know. Humans fear us, and rightly so. Why wouldn’t they? When we use them as food," He sighed.

"I... I want to be your friend, but I don’t think you’d want to due to my specie. I’ve had my eyes on you... no, I’ve seen you around since you first cane to the castle but I never knew how to approach you. Can I be your friend?" He looked nervous, fixing his hands inside pockets.

Rose chuckled, she went closer to Sun and peered at his face, "Hey, look at me," she tapped his shoulder.

Sun slowly looked at her, his face shy.

Rose smiled, "You can be my friend, not my boyfriend. Unless you want both of pur head to be severed off our necks," She said to him.

Sun looked surprised, his eyes widened, "You knew? Was I that obvious?" He asked, pouting sadly.

Roaw scoffed, "I wasn’t so sure, buy after hearing you speak, I confirmed that a cute vampire has a crush on me. That’s really romantic but also dangerous. Friendship is all I can offer; nothing more." She stated.

Sun smiled. "I’ll take that," He shook Rose’s hand.

"Why Sun? A vampire called Sun. Quite ironical," Rose staryed walking again.

"Ah, yes, I know. My mother named me that way because sje had always dreamed of the day when vampires would walk under the sun just like other creatures. She loved the sun, and since she couldn’t walk under it and feel it on her skin, she decided to have it in her home...me," Sun explained, smiling as he spoke about his mother.

Rose nodded, imagining how it would have been if she also had a loving parents like everyone else.

"I’d yoi don’t mind me asking..." She trailed off.

"Please," Sun replied

"If your parents were both vampires, why are you a slave?" She questioned.

Sun chuckled, "You’re quite a deep thinker." He sighed.

"My parents might be vampire but that doesn’t make me pure blood. The only people who can never be slaves are pure bloods. My mother’s parents were a vampire and a demon while my father’s were a vampire and an elf. So, you see, my lineage isn’t pure, far from it," He explained.

"Oh, I understand now," Rose slowly nodded.

"Have there ever been a case of a vampire and hu -"

"Don’t ask that... the walls have ears. We’re prohibited of even thinking about that; never to be mentioned," Sun warned in a gently but firm voice.

Rose narrowed her eyes, "Then there have been a case. Now I’m curious and I must find out," She smirked at him.

Sun sighed, "I knew you were adventurous and courageous. Only a human like yourself could survive in our world and beside the master. But you have to be careful, Rose, you might not like what you find," He held her hand.

Suddenly, a gust of wind made Rose’s hair and dress twirl. ’The bitch is coming,’ Isolde spoke to Rose.

"Hey, you! I’ve been dying to speak to you. What -"

"Are you okay?" Sun held Rose’s shoulder and asked in concern as she had suddenly started to speak to herself.

"What di we have here? Having an affair with another skave?" Elowen suddenly appeared behind Rose.

’I warned you,’ Isolde said again.

"No, no, Ms. Elowen. I was just talking with her," Sun lowered his head in fear and respect.

Rose sighed and simply turned to look at the intruder. She stared at Elowen’s face for a second, sighed again and turned around to walk away.

"You bitch, come back here," Elowen pulled Rose back and raised her hand to slap her.

"Unhand me!" Rose shut her eyes and pushed Elowen away, feeling very light as a feather as she did so.

Suddenly, she heard the sound of bricks falling in front of her, followed by Sun’s shocked gasp.

"Oh my godess!" Sun gasped.

Rose opened her eyes to find herself lifted off the floor, her hair twirling and swirling as the wind surged around her.

She looked ahead and widened her eyes in shock as she saw Elowen buried beneath a tall pillar that had now fallen on her.

"What have I done?" She whispered as her for slowly touched the ground again.

"You’re a witch?" Sun asked in shock.

Rose stood in silent shock as men gathered to help Elowen out of the bricks.

’You did great. Next time, she won’t survive,’ Isolde giggled inside Rose’s head before disappearing again.
