CHAPTER 125: MOVE!

It was past midnight, and the howls and growls coming from the third floor and the Lord’s wing were enough for each of them to know better than to go there.

It didn’t help when Lady Fiona came scrambling down the stairs a few minutes after she went running after Lord Cain.

The guards and servants had whispered amongst themselves, but they knew better than to not take their search for Cain’s male lover seriously.

They looked everywhere, even on the roof, and it wasn’t until a few hours later that they all relaxed a bit and took breaks eating and drinking as they gossiped about the Lord.

The gate guards knew better than to go anywhere near Cain’s elite guards as they stood next to the gates since just because everyone was banned from leaving didn’t mean that they couldn’t get attacked by Reds.

"Bari really got the short end of the stick, huh, Savi!" one of them spoke as he pulled out a cigarette and placed it in his mouth. He slowly lit it and puffed it out, watching it form two expertly formed rings.

"Honestly! I don’t think he’s coming back!" he continued even as he stared at the masterpiece of smoke he had made in the air. His partner, who sat the closest to him, didn’t speak at first as he simply stretched his hand out for a smoke, which he instantly received.

Lighting it up first and taking a couple of pulls before he responded.

"We both know even if he spills the beans about what Lady Fiona asked, he still won’t come back. Worse! His family will also be killed by her cruel father!" David mumbled under his breath as he stared at the sky from where he crouched closer to the ground, drawing stupid symbols in the ground even as he spoke in the lowest tone he could muster.

"Haze! What would you do if it were you?" Savi went ahead to ask, even as he imagined what he would do if it was indeed his turn and Cain ever called him into his room.

In response, Haze simply chuckled at first, taking a few pulls of his cigarette before he responded with a crinkle in his eyes.

"What else can I do but pray for a fast death? Or do you think I would give him the answer he wants, die, and also meet my wife and two-year-old son in the afterlife but in pieces?" Haze asked with a scoff, even as he lifted his gaze and settled it on the third floor, the windows in which Cain would be staying in any room.

"I’m just worried! Today was tense, but I fear that tomorrow might be worse. It’s hard for anyone to accept that his lover didn’t pass the gates and still is nowhere to be found in the mansion."

Savi also nodded his head in response as he replied, "Yeah... but are you willing to be the scapegoat that’ll step out and say that she indeed left? Don’t forget that we were the ones on duty!" Savi pointed out.

"We were on duty, but the moment we speak, more than half of the guards are also going down! It’s not like we’re not all in this together!" Savi scoffed, even as he got on his feet and tossed his cigarette onto the ground and stamped his legs over it, squashing it into the ground.

"I’m going to walk around the mansion! For our sake! I really hope that the lover was merely taken and could be returned!" he sighed, leaving out the rest of whatever he wanted to say.

’...cause if he was indeed dead, then their Lord’s disposition was about to get much worse!’

The moment he was done talking, he immediately said a quick goodbye to Haze, who waved back before turning his focus back to the cigarette he held in his hand and trying to make another perfectly good ring of smoke.

Savi, on the other hand, was just about to head to the left towards the gardens when he suddenly decided to head to the right instead, towards the firing range, the horse track, and where the trees in the mansion grounds were plentiful.

Honestly, he somewhat hoped that Lady Fiona hadn’t killed the lover, especially since he hadn’t smelt any blood on the people they allowed into the mansion when they were leaving. He also hadn’t seen them carry anything big enough to fit a body, which made him even more hopeful, yet the fact that so many hours had gone by made him slowly draw the conclusion that she was most likely dead.

Walking slowly, he simply admired the grounds which he had walked on so many times yet couldn’t see enough of considering how beautiful it was, especially when the security light on every path was well lit.

Savi was just wondering whether or not to go back when he suddenly decided to check out the horse stable, especially since he had personally been to every place but there.

’I’ll check it just to tick off the box!’ he decided before he retired and faced whatever the morning was bound to bring.

But he had just gotten close when he saw a guard already standing close to it, sitting on the floor with an unlit cigarette in his hand.

He had just moved closer when he realized that it was a guard he knew and one he completely detested, considering how much favor he had with Lady Fiona and her father and how arrogant he acted because of it.

Regardless, he moved to walk past him and enter the old stable only to watch him scramble off the ground with sudden urgency, moving to stand in his way with a pissed-off look on his face.

"Where do you think you’re going?" he barked out with a sneer on his face as he glared at Savi, who immediately glared back.

"...without greeting me!" he seemed to hurriedly add, but Savi only continued to look at him like he was insane as he slowly began to get pissed off.

He simply wanted to check the old stable with his own eyes, and the last thing he wanted to deal with was an asshole like Reddrick.

"Move!" he growled in a clearly threatening tone, confident that he would love nothing more than to take a piece off Reddrick’s pride by punching his smug face.
