Chapter 24: Gao Mengting
At noon, Tang Song decided to treat Guo Peng and Li Mingjun to a meal at a small roadside restaurant. They ordered four dishes and a soup, which were affordable and generously portioned.
Back at the auto repair shop, Li Mingjun's phone rang. The highly praised female car owner had finally arrived. The three men waited in the courtyard for two or three minutes before a graceful and beautiful figure walked in.
Li Mingjun immediately stood up and greeted her warmly, "Boss Gao, you're finally here."
"Brother Li, please don't tease me. You know how my store is doing," the woman replied in a pleasant voice.
Guo Peng nudged Tang Song excitedly, "She's really a beauty! So pretty, even more so than Tian Jing! And her figure is incredible!"
"She is indeed very beautiful," Tang Song agreed, his eyes also drawn to the approaching woman.
In her early twenties, she had delicate features and smooth skin. Her brown hair was thick and fluffy, and she wore exquisite makeup. Her outfit consisted of split straight jeans, white sneakers, and a high-neck sweater, exuding a vibrant aura.
Li Mingjun introduced them with a smile, "This is Gao Mengting, the owner of the Wuling Hongguang S. This is Tang Song, the buyer I mentioned."
"Hello, Mr. Tang," Gao Mengting greeted with a smile, adding, "You're much younger than I imagined."
Her full cheeks lifted slightly when she smiled, giving her a cute look.
"Hello," Tang Song replied politely.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Li Mingjun produced two contracts, "Miss Gao, please review these terms. If everything is in order, we can sign the contract now." Check latest chapters at noᴠelfire.net
Gao Mengting took the contract and sat in the courtyard, carefully reading through it. Whenever she encountered something unclear, she immediately asked for clarification, only proceeding once satisfied. The two-page A4 contract took her a full eight minutes to review.
Tang Song felt a bit embarrassed by her thoroughness, having only skimmed through to confirm the model and price.
"I'm fine with it, Brother Li. Do you have a pen?" she asked.
"Of course!" Li Mingjun handed her a carbon pen and an ink pad.
Gao Mengting swiftly signed her name and pressed her thumbprint on the contract. Under the sunlight, her fingers appeared slender and fair, her handwriting elegant and soft.
"Your turn, Mr. Tang," she said with a smile, handing the contract to him.
Tang Song took it, signed as the buyer, and pressed his thumbprint, finalizing the agreement.
Gao Mengting placed the car keys on the table. After a moment's hesitation, she said, "According to the contract, Mr. Tang, you need to pay 20,000 yuan within 24 hours as part of the car purchase. Can you transfer the money now?"
"Sure, how would you like to receive it?" Tang Song asked, taking out his phone.
"Let's add each other on WeChat. If there are any issues with the car, you can contact me directly," she suggested, opening her WeChat QR code.
After adding each other on WeChat, Tang Song transferred 20,000 yuan with the note: Car Purchase Deposit.
Gao Mengting immediately accepted the payment, her face showing relief. "Honestly, I've been short on money recently. This payment is just in time. Thank you, Mr. Tang."
"You're welcome."
"Brother Li, thank you for all your help. I'll transfer the commission and transfer fee to you later. I'll need my ID card until the transfer on Monday."
"No problem at all," Li Mingjun replied with a smile.
Gao Mengting checked the time and picked up her bag, "I don't have anything else to do here, so I'll take my leave."
"Goodbye."
"Bye-bye."
"Goodbye." Gao Mengting smiled, nodded, and walked briskly towards the gate.
Her tight jeans accentuated her shapely hips and slender waist, creating a smooth and sexy curve. Her slightly curled brown hair swayed as she moved, showcasing her excellent figure.
Tang Song couldn't help but steal a few more glances. Just as she was about to exit, she suddenly stopped and turned around sharply, startling Tang Song and making him smile awkwardly.
Gao Mengting took a deep breath, jogged back to the Wuling Hongguang, and gently stroked the car's body with a sad expression. She leaned against the A-pillar, whispered a few words, bit her lower lip, and finally, tears fell.
She raised her delicate face and carefully wiped her tears with a tissue from her tote bag. Turning back to Tang Song, she bowed deeply, "Mr. Tang, please take good care of her. She's the high-end version with a semi-spiral rear suspension. She can carry up to about 800 kilograms. Don't transport aquatic products; they corrode the floor despite the protection I installed. Maintain her every 5,000 kilometers..."
She continued to list maintenance tips for four or five minutes, her eyes frequently glancing towards the car.
Tang Song, overwhelmed, finally responded, "Alright, no problem. This is my first car, and I'll take good care of it."
"Thank you! She's also my first car, and she's been with me for three years. She's reliable and sturdy, great for people and cargo, whether on highways or rough paths..." Gao Mengting tilted her head back, "Sorry, I got a bit emotional. I shouldn't have looked back. This is really goodbye."
She smiled, swung her beige tote bag, and left gracefully, her figure disappearing from sight.
Li Mingjun sighed, "This girl is really something. She earned a lot of money through part-time jobs in college and bought this car in her senior year to start a clothing business. It went well at first, and she made a good amount, even modifying the car during that time. But she got scammed by a partner, leading to her current situation."
...
Back at Qingxin Homestead, Tang Song carefully stored the contract and sat on the sofa in a daze. He had finally secured the car he liked, and once the transfer was complete on Monday, it would officially be his.
He should have been very happy, but thinking of Gao Mengting's eyes as she left made him feel a bit sad.
Tang Song laughed at himself, realizing it was because she was an extremely beautiful girl. If she had been less attractive, he would have just felt a brief sense of pity and moved on.
Lost in thought, he unknowingly opened Gao Mengting's WeChat Moments. Her posts were mostly about clothing and shoe promotions, with the occasional selfie. The most recent post, three minutes ago, read:
"Gao Mengting: 'There exists a sorrow that cannot shed tears, a sorrow that cannot be explained to others, even if explained, they wouldn't understand. It remains unchanged forever, quietly accumulating like snow on a windless night.' — Haruki Murakami, 'Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.'"
