Chapter 148: An Impossible Quest (IV)
CHAPTER 148: AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST (IV)
"And I have told you before. You cannot defeat me."
Doragun spoke without fear, flames bursting forth with increasing intensity, turning the surrounding sea into steam.
Svatava’s lips curved into an amused grin as she moved to swim forward, but she stopped abruptly when something touched her tail.
"Huh?" she muttered, turning her neck toward the source, but in an instant, her eyes went wide as her hulking form was hoisted into the air and lifted away from the water.
"What the," she mused beneath her breath, finding herself out of the water, ashore.
Turning forward, she found him with his hands still raised in an obvious throwing motion.
He had lifted her hulking weight out of the sea with a single hand!?
Dorimunga’s burning crimson eyes flared as he looked down at Everlean, a dangerous yet cautious glint in his eyes.
’He had grown even stronger!’ it mused to itself, and Everlearn raised his eyes to him.
"I’ll make you take back those words,"
He claimed.
’Activate Illumino Transformation.’
CRAACKKK!
Bones cracked loudly, and Doragun stared in disbelief as the kid’s body rapidly expanded.
Everlean’s bone structure tore to pieces, only to be further reforged and lengthened from the resulting energy that was pumping from his heart.
His arms exploded with muscle, thickening to three times their previous size.
From a height of 1.9 meters, he became a hulking 9-meter giant, hands turning into massive wolf-like golden claws, with a golden maw tearing out from where his mouth used to be.
"Impossible. You’re a beast, too," Doragun called, looking up at the monstrous-looking golden creature who turned its piercing golden eyes down at it.
BOOOOOM!
The sea around Everlean evaporated, disappearing and reappearing with his golden claws right before Doragun’s face.
The flaming toger spat out arcane flames that burned with furious intensity, yet they were futile.
Everlean grabbed at his face, raising him up, and both soared forward horizontally in the air before
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
He smashed Doragun into the sea, dragging his body through the sand bed before roughly flinging him into the distance.
Doragun halted 100 meters out, then lunged back toward Everlearn, who raced on all fours, charging straight at the enemy.
Like an outsider to it all, Svatava watched from the shore.
The sea surged violently, sending typhoons streaking into the far-off clouds, now completely dark.
An incredible battle of feral might between a werewolf and a tiger
Though she was just as strong, the raw might filled her with awe.
An unexplainable awe that sent her heart pounding ferociously.
Doragun’s pride would not make him back an inch.
He fought back, displaying a level of ferocity that she had never thought him capable of.
Yet his opponent had seemingly become the incarnation of wrath.
His might grew with every fall, a blue and golden aura bursting out.
Though a beast, the way he fought was beyond anything she had ever seen.
Torimunga excelled in brute, beastly power; his attacks were raw and savage.
The young man, though equally beastly, fought with the precision of an art.
An art that grew more perfect as the battle continued, until soon one of them fell onto his back, pinned beneath his opponent’s foot.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The ocean trembled as Everlearn’s strike crashed down on the tiger beast, hurling it deep into the sea.
ROOOOOAAAAAR!
Flame roared towards Ryuk, slamming into his face, but it was cut short as he head butted Doragun, slamming his maws shut.
Jerking both claws backward,
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
A surge of golden and blue rippled through the sea as Everlean slashed down furiously, his hands becoming a blur.
___________
’It did not make much sense to Doragun.
He had seen the boy twice.
The first time was a test of his power, and he had easily sent him into the air with a simple roar.
The second time, he had put up a bit of a fight, but it still sent him flying.
Yet now, it was being pumelled helplessly.
It could not understand.
How could there exist a beat that grows in might with every battle in such a short time?
One with such calm yet unceasing ferocity.
As he lay down on his back being slashed to death beneath those heavy golden claws, he failed to understand, but then, in that moment, the world began to slow down.
The blows hit him repeatedly, but they came slower.
Even the pain felt blurry.
’Is this the end?’
Doragun thought.
The world was beginning to slip into darkness, and a strange peace descended upon him.
At the last moment, the question of his opponent’s anomaly was all his mind could wrap around, and in that moment, he turned downward, and his eyes widened.
He finally got the answer.
His opponent’s heart.
The glowing blue light from his heart sent more energy through him.
He could feel from that place, a source of power that surpassed his imagination, and in the next moment, his teeth ground in conviction.
"DIE WITH ME!"
It roared, and in the next moment, Everlearn halted as a flash of crimson light blazed through the air, coming from Doragun.
The crimson scales on his body all rearranged, gathering around his right claw, which became as bright as the sun.
A feeling of danger hit, making him immediately step back in caution, but then,
CRAAAAACK!
SHATTTERRRR!
A sound Everlean had never heard before.
It was similar to grass cracking, yet it wasn’t.
His eyes went wide as the very space before him cracked and exploded into fragments.
A claw shining with intense crimson light reached straight for one place:
His Heart!
Reflexively, he dodged to the side, but Doragun’s claw still tore his chest.
BLEEEEEERGGGGGGH!
Blood burst out of Everlearn’s lips, his eyes widening as the pain hit him.
The pain of a hand tearing straight through his chest and out from the other side.
Biting down on his teeth, Everlean’s claw slashed outward toward Doragun, landing on his right shoulder and cleaving off his entire arm.
With the arms detached, he took a step backward, collapsing onto a knee.
Doragun did not die.
Even though severely weakened with one arm lost, it rose onto all three legs, trying to swim out of the water, but it had not moved very far when its head knocked into a scaly body.
He paused, raising his head to find those ice-blue eyes staring down at him.
It was her, Svatava.
