CHAPTER 159: EVERLEARN VS THE BOSS (I)

A circular shockwave tore through the air in front of Everlearn’s cane with each centimeter of its movement.

By the time it reached the Boss’s chest, five shockwaves had erupted, but his face showed no reaction.

That is...until the tip landed right on his chest!

KAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

A wave of explosions tore cracks behind the Boss’s legs, and he was dragged ten meters backward, stopping just before he hit the railings.

His body remained bowed, but his eyes widened in shock and disbelief as he looked at the lines his own legs had carved from bearing the full force of the cane strike.

’A powerful Mech artifact!?’

He asked himself in shock, turning to Everlearn, who gradually let his outstretched cane fall, setting it carefully to the side.

A silver light crossed through the Boss’s pitch-black eyes as he realized.

’That cane is no ordinary walking cane.’

’But, if it’s all he had, he should have been blown away from the resultant force, yet he never stepped back an inch.’

’This is his own power.’

"Did you get the message, Boss?"

Everlearn asked, and an amusing grin crept up on the Boss’s face as he rose upright, the coat on his shoulder falling to the ground, but it never touched the ground before it disappeared, stored away.

His long arm sleeves were pulled to his elbows, revealing thick crimson veins beneath his dark-skinned arms, and he turned back to Everlearn, saying,

"Tell me more,"

The second those words finished, the Boss became two.

One, still standing 10 meters away, and the other, less than a meter away from Everlearn, punching forward straight towards his head.

It tore through Everlearn’s head, a shockwave exploding backwards, but it was nothing but an afterimage.

Everlearn’s body flashed forward, his head leaning close to the Boss after dodging his blow, and his left elbow slashed down like a blade towards the Boss’s neck.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!

The strike of his elbow, leg to a sword-like scar, tearing a sword-like scar across the ground, and ripping five meters of the dorm roof.

Yet the Boss remained untouched, vanishing in an instant and reappearing above Everlearn.

His legs slammed downwards for Everlearn’s back, but it did nothing but land on the ground.

His silvery eyes widened when he watched the young man’s afterimage dissipate into thin air.

"Behind me..." he whispered, turning sharply, and there he found him.

Everlearn stood where the boss had vanished, his hand lightly grabbing at his shoulder.

"The Dorm Building will be destroyed. Let’s take it to the sky."

He said, and in that next moment, a single vein appeared on Everlearn’s arm, and he pulled upwards.

The Boss’s hulking body was flung up into the air, sent flying through the cloud like a ball.

Everlearn flashed away from where he stood like a mirage appearing right before the Boss, and their silvery-dark and blue eyes collided.

"Show me Everlearn. What You Have Become..." He whispered to Everlearn, who punched forward towards the Boss’s head.

The man crossed his arms, blocking the punch, though the force sent him piercing further through the clouds.

For the next few moments:

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Explosions raged across the academy sky, obliterating entire clouds with every shockwave.

The explosive noise, of course, arrested the attention not only of the students but also of the Instructors.

In an instant, a total of 15 Instructors were in the sky, about to step in, when the order came in.

"Leave them alone."

They all turned back, and there, in a random cloud in the sky, was a woman with long golden hair and piercing golden eyes.

"Principal Onelore!?" The Instructors called in shock, immediately pausing in their steps.

"But, that’s one of our 2nd-year students," a dark-haired Instructor said to her as Onelore looked into the distance, watching the crazy blur flash through the sky, every collision triggering a shockwave that blasted clouds for miles.

"No. He’s not a student. He’s an X-Guardian, getting tested by the Boss of X-Guardians."

"WHAT!?"

"Remind me—"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

"How many months has it been since we last saw each other..." The Boss’s thick voice boomed through the air as Everlearn raised his head, looking up at The Boss, who had his hands together, fingers interlocked, forming a single massive fist that came crashing down toward Everlearn.

His hands shot forward, crashing into the descending shockwave and shattering its ripple.

Then, he punched upward, landing right beneath the massive fist.

"Six months, two weeks, and five days."

KAAABOOOOOOOOOM!

The explosion forced them apart, sending Everlearn hurtling downward as the Boss was flung upward, only to dive back down with even greater, insane speed.

Everlearn withdrew a glass ball from his hand and released it into the air.

When it slipped below him, he tapped his foot on it, using the rebound as a spring to thrust himself farther into the sky.

Three pushes slammed towards his face, yet he dodged every one of them, countering with an elbow towards the Boss’s neck.

The man was able to block with the back of his wrist before he pushed his hand back, headbutting Everlearn, who seemed to have predicted the move, jerking back while slamming up with his knee instead.

It connected solely with the Boss’s lowered forehead, sending his head jerking back into the sky.

The world darkened for a second, but when he opened his eyes, he found the back of a foot crashing once more towards his forehead.

CREEEEAAAAAAAAK

The sound of bones creaking echoed out from the Boss’s crossed hands, as he felt the vibrations coursing through his body from that kick.

"You fight pretty well,"

He whispered before he was blasted deep down into the ground, crashing straight into the street and carving an abyss on the ground.

Everlearn couldn’t fly, so he naturally plummeted toward the ground.

But just before impact, he pushed downward, canceling most of the falling force and landing gently.

However, a spider-web crater still opened onto the ground.

When he looked downward, he expected to see the Boss deep down in the crater, but there was nothing at the bottom.
