CHAPTER 165: FIRST MEETING WITH A GOD-GRADE MECH MODULE

"Promise me this won’t be the last time," she whispered, and he felt her hold faintly tightening.

It made him think about it.

Could there be anything that would ever stop him from coming to X Guard Academy after this?

There was nothing he could think of, so he decided:

"I promise," he said, holding her hands, and she smiled.

They remained quietly for about thirty seconds, though to Rosa, those had to be the shortest thirty seconds of her life.

They parted, and when he turned to her, her face had regained that pink blush.

"You sure are acting a little too happy today," he teased, watching her quickly wear her helmet with unnatural speed.

"Shut up!" she said from within, and he rolled his eyes.

At that moment, a golden illumination half-illuminated them, and they both turned, finding the sunlight breaking through the clouds.

It was the first ray of dawn, and how beautiful it was.

"I guess you’ll be leaving soon," Rosa said from the side, and he turned to her.

He couldn’t really see through the helmet, but he nodded.

"Yes."

GRUUUUUUUM!

The Tron power bike rumbled from afar, soon swerving towards them.

"Switch to Basic Mode," Everlearn said to Ever.

Instantly, the sleek Mech frame transformed back into the staff, and he slipped it neatly into his sleeves."

Rosa sat on the bike, and the motion reminded him.

"I almost forgot, how was my bike ride?" he said as he took his seat behind her.

"Slow as a crouch as ever?" she replied, the communicator allowing her words to ring clearly inside his helmet, as she revved the bike.

"And that’s completely voluntary. I didn’t want us to crash after all," he said, and Rosa’s brow twitched with disbelief as she rode forward.

"Actually, I meant that as irony. You were going ridiculously fast!" she said, and his brows twitched.

"For real?" he whispered, and her giggling filled his helmet afterwards.

Everlearn was dropped at the intersection where the X Guardian Card had previously directed him, and giving a wave at Rosa, he watched her zoom off into the distance, smiling quietly before he turned back.

Only a moment later, his hand grabbed his head, but it didn’t touch his face; instead, a hard object.

He took it off right after, realising,

"Oh shhiii. I forgot to return it?" he mused, turning back behind him.

She was already long gone.

In the end, he could only shrug it off, taking it with him.

Unknown to him, Rosa had parked at a building by the side, a pair of binoculars in her hands, currently focused on him.

She watched as he paused, a flicker of realisation crossing his face, then shrugged and continued, taking the helmet with him.

The sight of that made her smile in relief, and she jumped back on the bike, continuing towards the dorm building.

As Everlearn followed the direction of X Guardian Card, he was a bit surprised, noticing the card pulling him to a different place, an area he had never been before.

On the map, there were the Newcomer area, the 2nd-year area, and the 3rd-year area, but there was also a place that had no tag, with entrance strictly forbidden to all students.

It had eventually been named the Instructor’s area by the students since only the instructors could go in, and he was surprised to find the card’s pull bringing him there.

As he arrived in the Instructor’s area, he was able to find his needed location before any instructor found him, and most likely grounded him, and stepped in through the revolving glass door.

Stepping inside, he felt it clearly this time.

A ripple as if he had stepped through a teleporter, and when he indeed came out, he found himself not in an entrance hall, but a void.

A void of golden littered with dots of black.

At the centre, a golden table behind which sat a man with long golden hair that cascaded down his shoulders like a waterfall.

A tiny book rested in his fingers, held up to his face, obstructing it, but in the next moment, he shifted it aside and stared at Everlearn, whose heart rate unconsciously increased while looking at the man.

He was a middle-aged man, seemingly in his early thirties, but what he truly found bizarre were his eyes.

They were weird, and it wasn’t particularly the golden colour but the serpentine-like irises which he possessed.

Yes, instead of humanoid circle eyes, the man’s eyes were serpentine, but Everlearn remained shocked only for a moment, as he realised:

’He most likely fused with a Mech module that shaped his eyes like that.’

"I haven’t seen you around here before..."

The man spoke first, laying the book on the table as Everlearn stepped forward, his hand dipping into his pocket to bring out his X Guardian card, when it suddenly halted.

"Huh?"

He tried to remove his hand from his pocket, but he couldn’t, as if it had been stitched in.

"And what are you trying to do?"

The words echoed from the man before he could even move to yank his hand back, and then he noticed the man’s golden eyes glowing, one serpentine iris fixed solely on his hand, the other locked onto his gaze.

"Phantom Wave Electrokinesis Module!?" Everlearn mused in quiet disbelief, but he still responded.

"I just wanted to show my X Guardian Card," he said.

The force holding his hand vanished, and he brought out his X Golden Card, only for it to be yanked from his fingers by an invisible force, gliding through the air and pausing just a few centimetres from the man’s eyes.

"It’s really as cool as they explained." Everlearn mused, impressed.

Mech modules came in different grades, some of which were said to grant the user near-godlike, almost magical abilities.

One of these godlike Mech Modules was the Phantom Wave Electrokinesis Module, granting its user the magical power of Electrokinesis.

It was an incredibly rare module, but with a single downside:
