Medusa in the Trash Heap
Chapter 47 - Ji Yaoyao’s Shock and Her Gamble!
Chapter 47: Ji Yaoyao’s Shock and Her Gamble!
“Miss Ji, what brings you here?”
“Welcome!”
Chen Fan came to the door, smiling as he spoke.
“I’m here for a banquet.”
“Thought I’d drop by early to check on how a new friend is settling in.”
Ji Yaoyao smiled; she seemed to be in quite a good mood.
The auction of the dragon corpse had significantly boosted her reputation.
Auction houses across the country were competing fiercely.
In such cases, reputation mattered greatly.
The better the reputation, the more trustworthy it appeared, and treasure holders would be more willing to consign their items there.
Moreover, the auction house was just one major project under her family’s commercial firm.
Once its reputation rose, the rest of the family’s business ventures naturally followed suit, becoming more competitive.
“A new friend?”
Chen Fan was briefly taken aback.
“What? We don’t count as friends yet?”
Ji Yaoyao asked with a smile.
“Uh… I guess so.”
Chen Fan responded, though he didn’t think so inwardly.
The gap between him and Ji Yaoyao was far too vast.
Whether in terms of family background, cultivation level, or even age.
They had only met once and didn’t share any real connection.
So Chen Fan knew that what she called ‘friend’ was merely polite phrasing.
They were just business partners for the time being, strictly transactional.
“You haven’t gone into the junkyard these past couple of days?”
Ji Yaoyao asked.
“I did once, but didn’t find any treasure.”
“You probably know that my storage space just opened up—it doesn’t have much capacity yet…”
Chen Fan shook his head.
Just as he suspected, Ji Yaoyao had come looking for treasures.
Likely hoping to acquire some before the auction began.
“That’s quite unfortunate.”
“But your breakthroughs are fast…”
A flicker of regret passed through Ji Yaoyao’s eyes, then she froze, her gaze falling on the lake.
“Your luck is something else.”
“This kind of legendary creature—you found it in the junkyard, right?”
Ji Yaoyao had seen Elizabeth and was utterly shocked.
“Just picked her up yesterday.”
Chen Fan nodded.
He knew that once Ji Yaoyao came inside, there was no way to hide it from her.
After all, she was a transcendent cultivator with extremely keen senses.
Still, Chen Fan wasn’t too worried.
Because Ji Yaoyao was a businesswoman.
Her biggest strength was knowing not to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
That much was clear from how she gifted him such a luxurious house.
Not to mention, Ba Xia was stationed here.
If anything went wrong, Chen Fan could unite everyone and suppress her, forcibly making repairs to her if needed.
“A legendary mermaid…”
“A dream creature for men!”
“Seems like giving you a house with a lake was the perfect fit.”
Ji Yaoyao laughed.
“So thank you, Miss Ji.”
“When I arrived the day before yesterday, I was caught off guard.”
Chen Fan once again expressed his gratitude.
“How about calling me ‘big sister’?”
“I’m older than you—just call me Sister Ji.”
Ji Yaoyao looked at Chen Fan with burning eyes, like she was staring at a treasure trove.
“Sister Ji…”
“Your… gaze is a little intimidating.”
Chen Fan followed along, but was a little unnerved by her intense stare.
“Good boy, that’s better…”
Ji Yaoyao laughed joyfully.
“But, since I’m your big sister now—”
“I think I should remind you to keep her hidden. It’s best not to let her be seen.”
“Legendary beings tend to draw unwanted attention, especially from certain men.”
Ji Yaoyao warned solemnly.
“All right.”
“I understand.”
Chen Fan nodded. In his soul domain, he could feel that Ji Yaoyao’s concern was genuine, not just for show.
This was something he had already considered.
Ba Xia had recovered a fair bit of her strength this morning and was preparing to lay down formations across the entire territory.
“Huh…”
“There’s another one.”
“Xiaofan, your luck is truly unbelievable!!”
As they neared the building, Ji Yaoyao was stunned once more. She had sensed Cui Beixi.
“What a powerful aura!!”
Once again, she was utterly shocked.
“Xiaofan, you’ve got no shortage of experts around you, huh…”
Snapping out of her surprise, Ji Yaoyao laughed and said, “I was originally worried about your security—turns out there’s no need for that.”
“It’s all right…”
Chen Fan replied modestly. Ji Yaoyao’s reaction proved that Ba Xia’s strength surpassed even hers.
It showed that Ba Xia’s recovery was going well.
“Xiaofan, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you…”
Ji Yaoyao said with a smile.
“What is it?”
Chen Fan was curious.
“Next time I get the chance to enter a public junkyard space, how about I take you in with me?”
“With your luck, you do the treasure hunting, I’ll handle the protection—how about we split the gains fifty-fifty?”
Ji Yaoyao suggested, her eyes gleaming.
“You… trust my luck that much?”
Chen Fan asked.
“These eyes of mine don’t lie.”
“I came today just to see if your streak of good fortune had run dry—but there’s no sign of that at all.”
Ji Yaoyao said confidently.
“But the spatial zones you can sense—there’s no guarantee I can.”
Chen Fan frowned.
“There are two ways around that. One: I locate it for you and bring you in directly.”
“Two: through a specific kind of rune, temporarily linking your mark with mine—you go in on your own.”
Ji Yaoyao said seriously, “But let’s be clear: I’ll ensure your safety. For anything you find, I’ll only take thirty percent. What’s mine is mine.”
