Chapter 1478: Chapter 1459 Little Thing

Gao Yang wasn’t exaggerating; he now has enough resources to elevate Shava into power.

Money-wise, Gao Yang now has more than 200 million on hand. Andre left around 150 million, he brought back 80 million in cash when he returned from the Skull Gang, plus another 20 million was cleared by scraping the bottom of the barrel.

More importantly, Gao Yang now doesn’t lack connections. Cultivating a gang using Grand Ivan’s network in Ukraine is as easy as can be. It’s simply a matter of Gao Yang saying the word, and Shava can do anything with the green light all the way.

Of course, Gao Yang’s support for Shava’s rise has a bit of mixing personal gain with public interest, using Grand Ivan’s power to bolster his own people. However, after everything Gao Yang has done to help Grand Ivan, risking his head to safeguard Ivan’s legacy without even seeing him face to face, doing this much doesn’t seem overboard, right?

Furthermore, aiding Shava and the White Shark Gang is also for the sake of continuing the fight against Djo.

Shava was breathing heavily, doubtful but probing as he said to Gao Yang, “Really, anything goes?”

Gao Yang swung his hand confidently and said in a low voice, “If you lack money, I’ll give you money. If you lack men, I’ll provide men, all top fighters. You can’t imagine how formidable they are. Then, do whatever you want, without fear of being besieged.”

Shava’s eyes lit up, and he replied in a low voice, “Money isn’t needed, nor are people. As long as I can act freely, that’s enough. Before, I had to avoid a lot of people, because every gang was entangled in complex networks. I’ve been cautious to avoid West City because the gangs controlling it have very good connections with many big figures in Kiev.”

Gao Yang waved his hand and said softly, “You want West City? Then go take it; your White Shark Gang can now run rampant throughout Ukraine!”

Shava rubbed his hands, then chuckled, but after a few silly laughs, he collected his smile and said seriously, “No, I can’t just seize territory or business immediately. I need to gather intel for you first because if I move to seize territory now, it will be difficult to gather information.”

Gao Yang nodded, “Yes, intelligence gathering is the most important task now. I must remind you, you and I are now on the same boat. If I fail, my influence is gone, and you’ll be implicated. That’s the price you must pay.”

Shava said solemnly, “I understand, getting such great benefits without any risk—there’s no such thing in the world. For you, and for myself, let’s settle the most important tasks first. There’s no rush for taking territory.”

Gao Yang exhaled and said, “I’ll wait a bit longer, once Alyosha brings the phone back, I’ll leave. I’ll find a fixed number to contact you later.”

At this moment, Gao Yang’s satellite phone rang. After checking the number, he answered it, and Number Thirteen said quietly over the phone, “I’ve found something; where are you? I need you to see it.”

Gao Yang said in a low voice, “I’m at Shava’s place; I need a little more time to get back. Is it important?”

Number Thirteen replied in a low voice, “Extremely important, come back immediately!”

Gao Yang promptly hung up and stood up, saying to Shava, “I need to leave, get the phone ready, I’ll come back for it.”

With no time for more words with Shava, Gao Yang and Eileen hurriedly left Shava’s hideout. While waiting for Nikolai to pick them up on the street, Eileen asked quietly, “What’s up? What did Number Thirteen find?”

Gao Yang, a mix of excitement and worry, replied quietly, “Yes, it’s an extremely important find, we need to get back and see.”

After a few words, Nikolai drove up in a taxi. Once in Nikolai’s taxi, Gao Yang immediately said urgently, “Get back as fast as possible, no detours.”

Nikolai drove at top speed, and soon, Gao Yang and Eileen were back at their base.

When Gao Yang returned, Number Thirteen was already there with many others waiting for him.

“What did you find?”

Number Thirteen pointed at the table, where there lay four small black objects.

About the size of peanuts, they looked much like large capsules but black and seemingly metallic.

Gao Yang picked one up with ease and found it somewhat sticky, yet not overly so, akin to natural rubber.

“Like a bullet, feels metallic inside, surely not a rubber bullet? What is this?”

Number Thirteen shook his head, “No idea, nobody recognizes this.”

Gao Yang frowned, “You don’t know it either?”

Number Thirteen nodded, “Never seen it before.”

Gao Yang tossed the bullet-like object onto the table and smiled wryly, “Surely fired from a gun, not poisoned, is it? Andre’s guard fell too strangely, hope it’s not some peculiar lethal stuff.”

Yake shook his head, “Don’t just guess blindly, this definitely isn’t something poisonous, take a look.”

Yake had a cracked open small object, Gao Yang took it and exclaimed in surprise, “So precise, what is this?”

The bullet-like object, once broken open, revealed an extremely tiny chip, something resembling a button battery, and a silver metallic piece like a speaker, though it was deformed now.

Yake said seriously, “This thing can emit electronic signals, but not too far, at most four or five hundred meters. We don’t know what the signal is for, and once assembled, it can’t be disassembled without breaking it.”

Number Thirteen slowly said, “We suspect this is some sort of reconnaissance or monitoring device. Fired from a gun, it starts working once shot out, but how it works and its purpose remains unknown.”

Gao Yang frowned, “Seems very advanced.”

Number Thirteen said softly, “Andre’s assassination location was sealed off properly. Entering, I found two of these in the room where Andre was ambushed, and a few more elsewhere. Essentially, they were all over the apartment. I didn’t have time for a detailed search and only brought a few back. There are surely more inside.”

Gao Yang picked up a bullet-like small object again and, looking at Pavlovich, asked, “You don’t recognize it either?”

Pavlovich shrugged, “Don’t look at me, we never had anything like this back then.”

Gao Yang sighed, “Who should we ask then?”

Number Thirteen said softly, “I’ve already asked Murphy and sent him the pictures. I believe it won’t take long for him to get back to me, just wait.” (To be continued.
