Capítulo 1786: Chapter 1765: A Thousand Gold Pieces for a Steed’s Bones

Gleyanov was eliminated by Djo’s men because Gleyanov played a crucial role. Although Gleyanov’s public position in the Ukrainian Army wasn’t very high, it certainly wasn’t too low either. His military rank was lieutenant colonel, and for a lieutenant colonel to be killed on the street was a particularly heinous case. Therefore, a large number of people would inevitably be dispatched to investigate why Gleyanov was assassinated.

The funeral had not yet taken place, and Gleyanov’s body was still at the police station. However, Gao Yang didn’t know if there would be police or army investigators at Gleyanov’s home, and he couldn’t just call to ask because he didn’t have any contact information for Gleyanov’s family.

When they arrived near Gleyanov’s house, Yarebin got out of the car and whispered, “Remember what I taught you, let’s go.”

Gao Yang and Yarebin approached Gleyanov’s front door, which was locked. Yarebin pressed the doorbell, and after a short while, a young man in his early twenties opened the door and looked at Yarebin and Gao Yang with a wary expression, asking, “Who are you looking for?”

Yarebin looked at the young man and said softly, “You are Rebrov, Gleyanov’s son.”

The young man nodded, and Yarebin then gently said, “We are friends of your father’s, and we’ve come specifically to visit your mother. Is there anyone else at home?”

The young man, still wary, replied, “Friends of my father? But I’ve never seen you before.”

Yarebin sighed and said seriously, “As Gleyanov’s son, you should be a little smarter. Look at me, what do you think I’m here for?”

The young man seemed a little embarrassed and then opened the half-closed door, quietly saying to Yarebin and Gao Yang, “Sorry, I might have been too nervous these past few days, come in, there’s no one else here.”

Yarebin stepped back and let Gao Yang enter first. Under the slightly surprised gaze of the young man named Rebrov, Gao Yang walked into the living room.

After Yarebin entered too, Rebrov invited Gao Yang and Yarebin to sit on the sofa and said quietly, “Please wait a moment, my mother’s health is not good, I’ll help her come out.”

Soon, Rebrov helped a woman in her fifties to come out. Her eyes were completely red and swollen. Also, a little child, around eleven or twelve years old, followed Rebrov out of the bedroom.

After helping his mother to sit on the sofa, Rebrov quietly said, “I’m sorry, my mother is overwhelmed with grief.”

Gleyanov’s wife opened her swollen eyes, looked at Gao Yang and Yarebin, and said, “You, sorry, I’ve never seen you before. Are you friends of Gleyanov?”

Gao Yang looked serious, leaning slightly forward, and said in a deep voice, “Sorry, we’re not his friends. I also have never met Gleyanov. Let’s put it this way, Gleyanov worked for me.”

Rebrov furrowed his brows, staring closely at Gao Yang, while his mother said in surprise, “Worked for you? You’re his superior?”

Gao Yang shook his head and said softly, “No, it was his work outside the military, his real work.”

Rebrov’s expression changed, and he exclaimed, “What are you saying?”

Gleyanov’s wife waved her hand at her son, began to sob, and said quietly, “I know, Gleyanov never told me who he worked for, but he said that his position in the army was arranged by someone. I think he meant you.”

Gao Yang nodded and quietly said, “We actually deal in arms, and Gleyanov played a crucial role in it. We had enemies trying to reach into Ukraine, and Gleyanov was betrayed by a traitor. The enemy approached Gleyanov to draw him in, but Mr. Gleyanov chose loyalty. He refused to betray, which is why he was killed. For various reasons, during this critical time, I couldn’t prevent all this. To this, I apologize to you and your children and express my most sincere respect to Mr. Gleyanov.”

Gao Yang and Yarebin both stood up, bowing to Gleyanov’s widow, who sobbed and said, “Don’t do that, Rebrov. I know Gleyanov fulfilled his responsibilities. He often said there was someone who saved his life and gave him everything he has today. I suppose that was you.”

Rebrov said solemnly to Gao Yang and Yarebin, “Please sit down, gentlemen, please sit down.”

Gao Yang and Yarebin sat down, and Gao Yang then said solemnly, “Mr. Gleyanov was honorable, but now he is dead. I think he should have left some money, but your life isn’t going well, is it?”

Without waiting for a response, Gao Yang immediately said, “Now that Gleyanov is dead, I have a responsibility to take care of his family. You don’t have to worry about anything. I’ve prepared ten million dollars for you, which you deserve. Gleyanov earned it with his loyalty. Additionally, Ukraine is no longer safe; you must go abroad. Tell me which country you want to go to, and I’ll take you there.”

Upon hearing the figure of ten million dollars, aside from the child, both Rebrov and his mother seemed a bit dazed, as ten million dollars is truly an astronomical figure.

Gleyanov’s wife was stunned for a moment before quietly asking, “Is this true?”

Gao Yang nodded and said, “Of course, I cannot give you cash because even if I did, you couldn’t take it with you abroad. Choose a place, and I’ll have someone take you there. Once you arrive, someone will meet you and arrange everything for you, and deliver the money to you. From then on, whatever happens here will have nothing to do with you. You can enjoy a new life in peace, a safe and tranquil new life.”

Gleyanov’s wife looked around her home and said, looking troubled, “But he hasn’t been buried yet. I can’t leave, I don’t want to leave.”

Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “Gleyanov’s revenge has been exacted. The traitor who betrayed him has been executed, and the person who killed him died horribly. Gleyanov’s body is still at the police station, but I promise that the burial arrangements will be made tomorrow. If all goes well, you could leave in two days. Mrs. Gleyanov, it is no longer safe here. The problem now isn’t just Mr. Gleyanov’s; it’s that Ukraine has become what it is now—too chaotic. For the sake of your safety and your children’s, I suggest you go to a stable and prosperous country.”

Gao Yang was willing to help a loyal subordinate’s family as much as possible, but if they didn’t dare to trust him, there was nothing he could do. So he immediately said, “Of course, the choice is yours. If you really can’t leave Ukraine, it’s okay. I’ll deliver the ten million dollars to you tomorrow, cash or bank deposit, either way, you choose.”
