CHAPTER 1796: CHAPTER 1775: NICELY DONE

Gao Yang recently stole from someone, and now karma has caught up with him. He’s been robbed, and it’s hard to say if what he stole was valuable or what he lost was more valuable.

No one was in the mood to talk. Rebrov’s father had just died, and his face already looked grim. To put it bluntly, he looked as if his own mother had died.

Thirty-six cannons, a proper artillery battalion, and a large-caliber heavy artillery battalion at that. But now, the cannons are gone, and Rebrov can’t be the battalion commander anymore.

Gao Yang was just angry, but Kanchelskis was beyond angry because Gao Yang, at most, lost money and time, but for Kanchelskis, it was a matter of life.

No one was in the mood to talk, and the atmosphere was indescribably heavy. Finally, after a torturous half an hour, the driver sent by Kanchelskis returned, bringing six others along. Five of them carried rifles, while one in pajamas walked at the front.

Seeing the arrivals, Kanchelskis suddenly regained energy. After taking a few steps toward them, he stopped and yelled at his driver, "Get out! Who told you to bring guns? Did I tell you to bring guns? No, come back! Put the guns here, every gun you’re carrying, put them on the ground! Then wait for my orders in that corner!"

The men exchanged glances, then walked toward Kanchelskis, placing their guns on the ground. After putting down all the rifles and pistols, they went to the corner to face the wall.

Kanchelskis was afraid Gao Yang would misunderstand. He was genuinely worried Gao Yang might think he had a desperate fighting intention, so he had everyone put their guns on the ground and then quickly walked toward the man in pajamas.

As expected, the man in pajamas was Kanchelskis’s brother-in-law, and Kanchelskis’s actions clearly led to a misunderstanding. The brother-in-law, who had been extremely nervous earlier, visibly relaxed.

"What’s going on, brother-in-law? You scared me. I thought something big was happening."

Kanchelskis grabbed his brother-in-law by the collar, pointed to the vast empty space behind him, and angrily shouted, "Where are the cannons? Where are the cannons here?"

Piatov glanced at Gao Yang and Rebrov, then Kanchelskis shouted angrily, "Speak!"

"Uh, well, because of this, brother-in-law, I wanted to tell you, but I haven’t had the chance. Uh, can I talk?"

"Speak! Hurry up and speak, you idiot!"

"Uh, I sold them, for two million dollars; a million is yours. Are they trustworthy? Well, I..."

Kanchelskis couldn’t listen any longer. He released his brother-in-law’s collar, stupidly saying, "Sold? Two million? And my million..."

Piatov adjusted his collar, then said to Gao Yang and Rebrov, "This has nothing to do with you, get out."

Of course, Gao Yang wouldn’t move. Kanchelskis coughed a few times, weakly asking, "Who did you sell them to, and how did you sell them? Explain it to me clearly."

"Oh, I sold them to, um, who are they? Can I say? Okay, I sold them to Jefferson, Ghostface Jefferson. He approached me several times, but this time he was generous, offered a high price, brother-in-law, and I feel things are different now than before. Everything is in chaos. Selling a few things shouldn’t matter, right? Didn’t you say we might have to prepare to withdraw? Seize the opportunity to make a fortune. Anyway, that batch of goods won’t move. Two million, brother-in-law! The money’s in hand! I only took the money first to let them get the goods."

Kanchelskis’s voice was chopped up, weakly he said, "That batch of cannons, do you know where they were delivered?"

"I don’t know, but, uh, probably went east. Like Jefferson told me someone urgently needed cannons delivered east. Just don’t know who’s using them; who cares? But I guess not the government army because they couldn’t buy back their own sold cannons, right? Haha, haha."

Kanchelskis weakly said to his brother-in-law, "Piatov, have I ever told you that although you’re a bit slow, you’re still reliable? Have I?"

"Uh, no, you just said I was reliable; never said I was slow. Do you think I’m very slow? Brother-in-law, wasn’t this business done beautifully?"

Kanchelskis laughed, but it was uglier than crying, loudly saying, "Beautiful!"

Piatov breathed a sigh of relief, laughing, "As long as you’re okay with it, brother-in-law. I’ve been worried about how to tell you this. Haha, it’s great."

Kanchelskis’s face twitched violently. He painfully said, "You did it too beautifully! You successfully got us all killed!"

Piatov was stunned, loudly asking, "Uh, what do you mean?"

Gao Yang exhaled, helplessly saying, "Buddy, I bought those cannons for cabbage price; you sold them for rotten cabbage price, and you’re selling my cannons. Well done!"

Piatov took two steps back, looking at Gao Yang with a terrified face, then at his brother-in-law, loudly asking, "What? What do you mean?"

Kanchelskis turned back to look at Gao Yang, his face full of despair. After making a couple of indistinct noises, he spread his hands, simply bowing his head and staying silent.

Gao Yang said irritably, "Don’t play dead; you might need to withdraw. Explain to me."

Kanchelskis resigned to fate, lowered his head, made a hand gesture, weakly saying, "It’s been chaotic lately; I can’t see the direction anymore. I thought you’d either replace me or get rid of me. As for why, we all know the power struggles. Well, tonight I thought I was safe, and the turmoil was over, everything would be back on track. But now, well, Peter, I’ve never thought about doing such things. If I were an idiot, I wouldn’t be in this position. I’m not an idiot, so I know what must not be done. But now, forget it, I have nothing to say."

Gao Yang exhaled, helplessly saying, "I might not trust your character, but I certainly trust your intelligence because you’ve always done well. Okay, having incompetent teammates is inevitable. So, do you know what to do?"

Kanchelskis looked up at Gao Yang in surprise. Gao Yang frowned, "Do you need me to teach you?"

Kanchelskis pointed at himself and then at his brother-in-law, uncertainly saying, "Is it me and him together, or, or have you forgiven me?"

Gao Yang said helplessly, "Wasn’t I clear enough?"

Kanchelskis nodded repeatedly, saying, "Thank you, thank you, Peter. I’m so grateful, thank you. Oh, I can’t express how I feel right now, really grateful to you, Peter."

Kanchelskis took two steps, picked up a gun from the ground, then suddenly turned back to look at his brother-in-law, loudly saying, "Piatov, you’ve gotten me killed, you really got us killed!"
