CHAPTER 196: CHAPTER 194 ESCAPE FROM ETERNAL DOMAIN_1

Anlanda volunteered to independently receive the newly arrived refugees, and Aunt Canola did not refuse.

With the development of the Eternal Domain, its prosperity increased, and every day, refugees from outside joined the territory. Moreover, with the peasants and soldiers recruited from the military buildings over the past two months, the human population in the Eternal Domain was approaching 2,000.

There were also the Werewolves directly under the Eternal Domain and those working as Werewolf laborers.

Aunt Canola, who was responsible for managing the newcomers to the territory, was swamped with all sorts of trivial matters every day.

Of course, Aunt Canola was more than willing to have Arlanda help with receiving the new refugees.

"That’s great... Your work has always been impeccable, and indeed, you should start doing some things on your own. I’m giving you the task of receiving the new refugees today. If you perform well, I can recommend you to Lord Lao Hansi to have you take charge of receiving new refugees from now on. Um... I have also suggested to Lord Gao Sipa that you attend the territory’s school. You are so smart; you can certainly become a hero assisting the Master in governing the territory, just like the other lords."

Arlanda knew that the school within the human territory could cultivate administrative heroes. But as an Elf, entering a human school would definitely give her away.

It seems I really have to leave now.

"Thank you, Aunt Canola. You are a good person, and I will never forget the help you have given me... I’m going to receive the refugees who have just joined the territory now."

This might as well be our farewell, Arlanda thought. By taking over Aunt Canola’s duties in receiving the new refugees, I’ll have an excuse to use some tools within the territory.

Arlanda planned to steal a farm tricycle and leave the Eternal Domain, following the road to the Red Mud Wetland. Her identity would allow her to travel unobstructed on that road. Then she would drive west along the newly constructed Southern Swamp Ring Road until she reached its end, abandon the vehicle, and proceed on foot. If everything went according to plan, she could reach the fortress cluster of the Silvermane Principality within two days. The rest will be up to my luck.

As an assassin, Arlanda was exceptionally skilled at planning, especially when it came to retreating from enemy territory. Her sister often said that a perfect assassination required a perfect escape plan. Over the past few days, Arlanda had thoroughly considered every detail of her departure from the Eternal Domain. She had carefully observed the patrol routes of the Eternal Domain guards and the minor habits of soldiers at key locations. She had also envisioned as many unexpected events as possible and planned how to handle them properly.

Since everything is ready, it’s time to go.

Arlanda had performed the task of receiving new refugees to the territory many times alongside Aunt Canola. She was very familiar with every step and had always sincerely helped the newcomers integrate into the Eternal Domain. She would take them for baths and distribute clothes. Then, she would lead them to breakfast and provide them with daily necessities.

As usual, Arlanda received the new refugees and took them on a tour of the territory, showing them what each place was used for. During this time, she successfully requisitioned a farm tricycle.

Originally, Arlanda had wanted to steal a Chocobo. That way, she wouldn’t need to abandon the farm tricycle midway and could ride the Chocobo straight back to the Elf-controlled area. But Yan Xing kept the Chocobos under strict watch. Leaving the territory on a Chocobo would definitely lead to rigorous scrutiny if she encountered a Werewolf. Riding a tricycle, however, would not. This was because, at any given moment, numerous farm tricycles were traveling on the road between the Eternal Domain and the Thunderous Swamp.

With the tricycle secured, Arlanda moved the food and supplies she had hidden onto it. After settling the refugees into their dormitories, Arlanda drove the farm tricycle out of the territory. Her excuse was that she knew of two injured refugees who hadn’t kept up with the main group, and she was taking supplies to rescue them.

Driving the tricycle, Arlanda passed smoothly through the territory’s guards and onto the road leading to the Red Mud Wetland. Along the way, she could see many Werewolves pedaling cycle rickshaws and driving farm tricycles, their vehicles laden with various supplies and laborers heading to their work sites. Beside the road was a newly dug canal. On the five-meter-wide surface of the canal floated several rafts. Werewolves stood on them, poling the rafts toward the Eternal Domain. Tied by ropes to the back of the rafts were logs, floating on the water.

The Werewolves poling on the water howled greetings to their kin on the road, who howled back in response. The rhythmic calls echoing between them, in the Werewolves’ distinctive voices, expressed praise for their good life.

Arlanda drove the farm tricycle along the road, occasionally encountering Combat Werewolves patrolling on bicycles. Occasionally, an airplane would come WHIRRING from the direction of the Eternal Domain, heading towards the Thunderous Swamp.

The further she got from the Eternal Domain, the more Arlanda could feel its burgeoning vitality spreading outward. She had no doubt that, if left unchecked, the Eternal Domain would swiftly develop into a great city. And if it were allowed to grow unfettered, the Elves would sooner or later dye the entire waterway red with their blood.

Arlanda pressed harder on the accelerator, and the farm tricycle sped up.

Ahead lay the Red Mud Wetland. However, the road ahead was congested.

To expedite passage, Yan Xing had initially made the road from the Eternal Domain to the Red Mud Wetland four meters wide. The plan was to get supplies moving first, then gradually widen the road and expand the canal. Although the road was a bit narrow, the vehicles were not wide, so travel was usually quite smooth. Today, however, for some unknown reason, a large number of vehicles were jammed together. Werewolves jumped onto their vehicles, craning their necks to look northward.

Arlanda had no choice but to park her tricycle and stand on the seat to peer ahead, trying to see what had happened.

Just then, a howl came from up ahead. The fervent tone immediately triggered a chorus of howls from the Werewolves on the road. All the Werewolves tilted their heads back and let out long howls. Like a wave, the sound traveled south along the road towards the Eternal Domain. Then, the Werewolves began to exchange short, sharp barks, their expressions excited as if some immensely good news was imminent.

Arlanda knew Werewolves used howls and barks to pass information, so she asked a nearby Werewolf what had happened.

"Master Yan Xing has returned! Master Yan Xing has come back from the depths of the Thunderous Swamp! The Master is leading his army from the Red Mud Wetland towards the Eternal Domain! We must immediately move all vehicles and objects on the road to the sides to let the Master’s army pass!"

After saying this, the Werewolf jumped down from his vehicle and began to push it toward the side of the road. The other Werewolves on the road acted in unison, and a narrow passage was quickly cleared down the middle.

Arlanda looked at the cleared passage in the middle of the road and suddenly realized—My opportunity to assassinate him has come!
