CHAPTER 488: CHAPTER 394 WHIRLWIND OF DESTRUCTION_1

In a short time, three of the six Tower Mages had been killed, and the remaining three were within Arlanda and Donna’s attack range.

However, guards from the Lord’s Mansion reinforced them incredibly quickly, with powerful heroes scaling the walls to charge in.

Simultaneously, Mages attacked the arrow tower where Arlanda was positioned, and hordes of soldiers closed in from all sides.

Any further delay, and the Super Tactical Squad would be surrounded.

Just then, piercing whistles suddenly filled the air as Deer Hunter Dive Bombers descended upon the Lord’s Mansion.

Their distinctive sound grated on the nerves of every soldier who had experienced the Outpost Fort war, instinctively driving them to seek cover from the imminent bombardment.

Some supporting Griffons and Divine Beasts had to divert a large portion of their forces to intercept these potent ground-attack weapons.

The pressure on the Super Tactical Squad eased, but the situation remained critical.

Yan Xing kept Anderson occupied, creating opportunities for Donna and Arlanda.

He also wore a set of Magic Armor—specifically, the Type One heavy armor.

Unlike other Magic Armor, Yan Xing’s intelligent core was Chui Chui. Her computational ability and resource allocation capabilities far surpassed any other intelligent core or Junior Intelligence.

Once the armor was equipped, Yan Xing felt as if it were a living, breathing entity, supplying Magic Power precisely where it was needed.

The efficiency and speed of Magic release were significantly improved.

Thus, Yan Xing managed to maintain the initiative for most of the fight, even though his overall combat ability was inferior to Anderson’s.

Anderson’s strength was likely a bit greater than Hibel’s when she wasn’t wearing Magic Armor.

The howl of the Deer Hunter Dive Bombers filling the sky distracted Anderson for a moment.

Storm City had established a rigorous air defense system against planes from the Eternal Domain, but the Eternal Domain hadn’t bombed Storm City in a long time.

After a rainy season without any air raids, Storm City’s defenders had naturally grown complacent.

It was uncertain whether they could withstand this air raid.

During the fight, Anderson seized a chance to glance at the sky.

He saw the Eternal Domain’s Deer Hunter Dive Bombers pull up and ascend after reaching a certain altitude, evading interception by the Griffons and Divine Beasts.

Is it a feint? he wondered. To draw our forces away for their assassination mission? Yes, Yan Xing is here. They wouldn’t dare bomb Storm City indiscriminately. Then let’s settle everything here.

A gunshot rang out!

A Tower Mage collapsed.

Then, Donna stabbed another Tower Mage to death.

Tower Mages with no combat experience fared worse in such sudden clashes than veteran soldiers.

In their panic, all their actions only hastened their demise.

And Donna... Anderson clearly remembered the little girl Hibel had once brought to the Anjik Fort battlefield.

During the war against the Orcs, the little girl’s growth rate had astonished everyone.

Some had asserted that with three more years of Hibel’s training, Donna would undoubtedly qualify to compete for the title of Champion Knight.

Yet, after only a few months, she had become so strong.

Before her, the Tower Mages were like chicks without their mother hen’s protection.

Now, only one Tower Mage remains behind me, on the verge of death, Anderson thought. I’m facing Yan Xing, who is nearly my equal, and there’s a sniper in the nearby arrow tower capable of killing even Moflin...

Just then, a hero rushing to rescue Anderson neared the covered walkway, only to have his head blown off by a bullet the instant he exposed himself.

The gunfire continued, and all defenders attempting to advance were cut down near the walkway.

Anderson dared not conserve his Magic Power any longer. Wings of condensed light unfurled from his back as he invoked Angel’s Descent.

Yan Xing also spread his wings.

The badly damaged covered walkway collapsed under the burst of magical energy. Anderson and Yan Xing hovered amidst the falling stones as Donna plunged her spear into the last Mage’s heart.

"Mission accomplished!"

"Retreat!"

Donna activated her Magic Armor’s flight mode, using the falling stones as footholds to change direction and accelerate, attacking Anderson from behind.

Yan Xing unleashed his Thunder Domain, blasting all nearby stones to pieces.

Shattered stones flew, and dust filled the air.

A whirlwind rose again, pressing down on nearby defenders, preventing them from lifting their heads.

Anderson turned to block Donna’s sneak attack, but when he looked again, Yan Xing had vanished.

The arrow tower housing the sniper also collapsed in an explosion.

The sky once more echoed with the sharp wails of the Deer Hunter Dive Bombers.

Anderson, still in his Angel’s Descent state, hovered in the air and roared, "After them! They must not leave Storm City alive!"

Just then, an officer riding a Griffon flew quickly from the northeast. Reaching Anderson’s side, he reported in an almost grieving tone, "My Lord... the Eternal Domain has launched an attack on our forces along the Outpost Fort line! Our main forces have been split and surrounded by the enemy. Riftfort has fallen. The enemy vanguard is advancing toward Storm City."

This intelligence report shocked Anderson so much he almost fell from the sky.

How is this possible? How can this be!

The defensive fortifications built by the Wildwind Principality on the Outpost Fort battlefront were modeled after the Eternal Domain’s own positions.

Although they couldn’t use barbed wire as extensively as the Eternal Domain, numerous Magic traps had been placed in front of their positions.
