MHA: Man Of Steel
Chapter 22 22: Midnight
Uraraka arrived a minute later, slipping into the room with a bright smile. "Good morning!" she greeted the class before making her way straight to the seat in front of Izuku.
He glanced up from his phone, sliding it into his desk. "Yo," he said casually.
"Hey, Izu," she replied, her cheeks faintly pink.
The class immediately erupted into a chorus of teasing voices. "OHHHHHH!" several of them sang out.
[A/N: Man I hate high schoolers ]
Before Uraraka could react, Mina popped up beside her, grinning like she'd just struck gold. "Wait, you came up with a nickname for your boyfriend already?" she asked, nudging her with her elbow.
Uraraka's blush deepened. "We're not dating!" she blurted, hands waving frantically.
"Oh really?" Mina smirked, clearly enjoying herself. "Then you wouldn't mind if I took him for myself, right?" She turned dramatically, perching herself right on the edge of Izuku's desk.
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind," Uraraka shot back, eyes closed in a determined little huff, as if the words didn't sting at all.
"Okay then~" Mina drawled playfully. "So, , can I have your Line account?" she asked, leaning forward teasingly.
"Sure, why not," Izuku replied without hesitation, pulling out his phone. The two exchanged details quickly, and Mina smiled, a faint blush dusting her cheeks.
"Wow… um, thanks. I'll text you later then, Izu," she said with a little wave before heading back to her seat.
Uraraka kept her eyes forward, but she couldn't stop the small twist in her chest. She wasn't going to lie—it hurt a little watching that happen.
Izuku leaned forward slightly. "Wanna share lines?" he asked casually.
She turned to look at him and nodded shyly. They exchanged accounts, and before long, others in the room began swapping details as well, the energy in the class turning lively.
Of course, Katsuki ignored everyone completely, leaning back in his seat with his usual scowl, and Todoroki sat in silence, not even looking up—ever the brooding Sasuke-type.
Across the room, Momo glanced over when Izuku caught her gaze and gave her a small wink.
'Wow… his influence is powerful,' she thought, a small smile tugging at her lips.
Before long, the chatter died down as Aizawa strolled in, eyes half-lidded as always. He took attendance with minimal effort, then the day settled into the usual rhythm of classes.
Izuku sat back, taking neat notes in his own handwriting while jotting down the exercise instructions they were assigned for later.
Before long, the bell rang for break.
'Alright,' Izuku thought, stretching as he stood, 'I'm feeling like walking around school today.'
He left the classroom, stopping by a vending machine to grab a few snacks before casually making his way down the hallway, deciding to explore every corner of U.A. he hadn't seen yet.
Izuku strolled down the hallway, unwrapping one of his snacks as he walked. His eyes drifted along the walls—photographs of past graduating classes, U.A.'s award displays, and even a few hero costumes encased in glass for "inspiration."
He passed a group of support course students lugging what looked like a half-finished mech suit, and a couple of general studies kids chatting in a corner. The air was light, the spring breeze filtering in through open windows.
Then he turned a corner— And stopped.
Standing in front of a vending machine, in full, unmistakable costume, was Midnight herself.
She had one heel slightly popped behind the other, casually sipping from a bottle of soda while scrolling on her phone. The leather of her outfit caught the hallway light, gleaming in a way that almost made it feel intentional.
Izuku blinked.
'Well… that's not something you see every day between classes.'
She glanced up at him, clearly noticing him pause.
'Isn't he the kid that aced everything in the entrance exams? Would be nice to invest in such a promising youth…' she thought, her lips curling faintly.
"Oh? You're a new face… You must be one of the first years," she said, her voice playful yet smooth.
"Yeah. I am," Izuku replied with a small smile, walking closer. "Didn't expect to run into a Pro Hero during break."
Midnight smirked, slipping her phone into her belt with a slow, casual movement. "You're at U.A. now, kid. Heroes are kind of everywhere." She tilted her head slightly, her eyes scanning him from head to toe.
'Hmm… All Might wasn't wrong. He does resemble someone… I just can't put my finger on it.'
"You've got that… confident posture. I've seen you before, haven't I?" she asked, her gaze lingering just a second longer than necessary.
'Oh great, here comes the guessing game.'
"Doubt it," Izuku said with a shrug, popping a piece of his snack into his mouth.
"Guess I just have one of those faces."
"Mmhm. Sure." She crossed her arms, leaning back against the vending machine, the leather of her suit creasing just enough to draw attention. "Well, whatever your deal is, I like it. A student who doesn't look like a nervous wreck here is rare—especially around a woman like me."
She deliberately shifted her weight, subtly flexing her curves in a way that felt natural yet entirely calculated.
Izuku didn't even bother hiding where his eyes were fixed, and that made her chuckle under her breath.
'He really is direct… I like that.'
"That's a nice way of saying I don't look like a freshman," Izuku chuckled.
Midnight grinned wider. "Exactly. Keep that confidence—just don't let it turn into cockiness. Unless you're in my class… then I might have to knock you down a peg."
"Guess I'll keep that in mind," Izuku said, meeting her gaze without flinching.
She gave a small, approving hum, then pushed off the vending machine, her perfume trailing faintly as she brushed past him—just close enough for him to feel the movement of air between them.
"Well, good luck out there, mystery boy. Maybe I'll see you in action," she said over her shoulder.
She took a few steps before glancing back over her shoulder, eyes glinting mischievously.
"Oh… and if you ever want some private lessons… just knock on the faculty lounge door after hours."
She winked, then continued down the hall, her heels clicking with every hypnotic sway of her hips.
'Always had a crush on that woman. I definitely wouldn't mind "extra classes" with her…' he thought with a smirk before turning and continuing his exploration.
