Chapter 590: Harem

Anthony smiled at her words. He recognized the statement as one of the popular memes that had trended online back on his former home world in his past life.

Whenever a woman uttered the phrase ‘We need to talk,’ it was almost instinctive for men to start panicking immediately.

“Don’t worry, we won’t be breaking up anytime soon,” Anthony replied jokingly, his voice laced with dry humor.

Vega chuckled softly before speaking. “So, what did you want to talk about? I hope it’s not about you having a harem.”

Anthony shook his head and went straight to the matter at hand. This conversation wasn’t just casual, through it, he hoped to learn more about Vega, her thoughts, and perhaps her moral compass.

“It’s about the Second Supreme Monarch,” Anthony began. “Through the memories of the Warlord Vampire that attacked us, I discovered the existence of a planet where all his descendants reside. I intend to go there and wipe out everyone as revenge.”

Anthony spoke without sugarcoating his words. He laid it all out as plainly and directly as possible, refusing to hide behind vague justifications or diplomacy.

A heavy silence seemed to fall between them. Vega simply stared at him, her expression calm and unreadable.

“And?” she finally asked after a few moments.

Anthony tilted his head slightly in confusion at her response. “What do you mean, ‘And?'”

“I mean, is there anything more to it? Or are you telling me this because you want me to follow you?” Vega inquired, her voice perfectly level and unbothered.

Her question hit Anthony like a sudden mental explosion. He had expected her to ask why, or perhaps even argue against the idea. Maybe they would engage in a light couple’s quarrel over the morality of it all. But instead, Vega seemed entirely composed, her demeanor casual, as if they were discussing something as trivial as stepping on ants.

“Why do you look so surprised?” Vega asked, raising a curious eyebrow at his expression.

“I expected you to hold me back,” Anthony admitted. “I thought you’d say they had nothing to do with the attack, that they were innocent, and try to convince me not to go through with it.”

Vega merely laughed and shook her head. “If this was about going around killing random people just for the fun of it, I might have knocked some sense into you. But this is different. If someone seeks revenge, it shouldn’t be half-assed in any way or manner.”

She paused briefly before continuing, her tone turning more serious. “If you don’t uproot it all completely, then it’ll simply grow back. If you only kill the Second Supreme Monarch, then his children will come after you. After you kill those, their children’s children will continue the cycle. It would never end. So, carrying out a purge to end it all at once is the most logical solution. Honestly, if I were in your position, I would’ve done the same thing.”

Anthony smiled. He understood Vega’s perspective perfectly. And, truthfully, he was deeply relieved and somewhat pleased to hear her encouraging words.

At the same time, he understood something else: although Vega didn’t care about genocide committed in the name of revenge, if he ever started killing for no reason, just for amusement or bloodlust, she would be the first to try and stop him.

‘Revenge can’t be half-assed,’ Anthony thought to himself, silently repeating her words.

“Do you want to come?” Anthony asked.

Vega gently shook her head and responded, “Since this is your revenge, you should carry it out alone. Fulfill it to your heart’s content. I’ll be cheering you on from here.”

There wasn’t the slightest hint of worry in her voice. She wasn’t concerned about Anthony dying or failing. After all, she had witnessed some of his capabilities during his battle with the fake Warlord vampire.

Anthony gave a slow nod, then continued, “I expected you to be shocked that my parents and grandfather were Supreme Monarchs… but you didn’t even react.”

“I already figured it out on my own. My brain isn’t just for decoration, you know,” Vega said, smirking. “The Supreme Monarchs wouldn’t allow you to promote six people with just a few words and a handful of achievements unless you had serious backing. That alone said everything I needed to know.”

“Heh… So why didn’t you say anything if you already knew?” Anthony asked curiously.

“I was waiting for you to bring it up yourself,” Vega replied simply.

Anthony sighed and shook his head in utter defeat.

“Do you plan on asking any of the teammates if they want to come with you?” Vega asked.

But Anthony shook his head again, this time more firmly. “No. I won’t tell them anything about it. The less they know, the better. At least for now.”

“Understandable,” Vega replied. After all, not everyone could stomach that level of bloodshed.

“When do you plan to head over there? After the mission?” Vega asked, tilting her head.

Anthony shook his head. “I’ll be leaving in a few minutes, right after addressing the rest of the team,” he replied.

“Although we’re currently on an important mission, you’re the captain. I’m sure you’d prefer to get this over with sooner rather than later,” Vega said with a nod.

With that, both of them stood up and exited the control room, making their way toward another chamber where the rest of the team had gathered. The atmosphere was casual; the team members were engaged in relaxed conversation among themselves.

However, the moment Anthony stepped in, their heads instinctively turned toward him.

“Are we finally heading to the Desert of Ruins?” Dale asked, a note of anticipation in his voice.

“We’ll be heading there directly after I return,” Anthony replied.

Confusion flickered across their faces.

“Return from where?” Reynold asked, narrowing his eyes.

“I need to visit a few people and handle some things. I’ll be back in an hour or two at most,” Anthony replied evenly.

They all stared at him in silence. Though he hadn’t provided details, they weren’t fools, they could easily connect the dots. It was clearly related to the Warlord vampire incident. The clues were too obvious to ignore.

“We’ll be waiting for you, then. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call us,” Kingsley said from the side, his eyes narrowing with quiet intensity.

Anthony nodded. “See you later, then,” he said, and with that, he turned and left the room, this time alone, without Vega.

Upon returning to the control room, Anthony waved his hand, and the unconscious vampire materialized before him once more.

Without hesitation, he activated Authority of Severance. Instantly, his perception of the world shifted. Everything flipped and twisted into a higher-dimensional view, threads of connection revealing themselves before his eyes.

He located the thread linking the vampire to his home planet and the thread that connected himself to the vampire. With a single thought, Anthony severed both threads simultaneously.

In less than an instant, they vanished from the aircraft, both Anthony and the vampire, as though reality itself had deleted their presence.
