Chapter 602 603: Humans, I Am Your Master [Second Update]
"You really didn't know Luna before?"
Gu Yueyan sat cross-legged on the bed with her arms crossed, puffing her cheeks as she questioned Ren Suo.
She had the confidence to do so!
Now, with Luna clinging stubbornly to Ren Suo and the Apostle of the Moon God entangling them, there was always the potential of being exposed, or even being implicated by Luna. Just yesterday, Ren Suo had risked offending powerful figures from the League of Legends to protect Luna.
Privately, her current character label gave her that right!
"Before coming to The Dark Side of the Moon, I'd never met her in reality," Ren Suo said emphatically.
Gu Yueyan bit her lower lip and stared into Ren Suo's eyes as she asked, "Then why would she... why would she... why would she become your pet? How can a normal person just casually become a stranger's pet!"
Pet Girl!
When Gu Yueyan heard that Ren Suo's character label was now Luna's owner, her mindset instantly shattered.
Why would there even be such shameless character labels! How could she not have thought of it!
Even if she had thought of it, she wouldn't have done it. It wasn't that she suspected Ren Suo would take advantage of the situation; rather, she would have been so embarrassed she'd have torn the character label to shreds.
But Gu Yueyan also knew that a character label like 'Pet Girl'—something so embarrassing it would make one unable to face the folks back in Jiangdong—wasn't something a normal person would casually assign.
If Ren Suo was merely someone Luna had known for two days, no matter how good a person Luna thought he was, she would never choose to become his pet!
Even though character labels could be destroyed at any moment, one could only change their label once a day. Destroying a label meant giving up the opportunity to cultivate for the day.
Even Gu Yueyan, whose mind wasn't focused on this, had to admit that obtaining Cultivation feedback from The Dark Side of the Moon was incredibly convenient and efficient. If she spent the next few days seriously role-playing her character labels with Ren Suo, and if this Cultivation could be synchronized with her True Form, then she was confident she could ascend to Third-level Cultivation shortly after leaving!
Even she, an Angel Envoy not interested in competing for the Silver Moon Crystal, couldn't resist the temptation of character labels. Other Angel Envoys competing for the Silver Moon Crystal definitely wouldn't miss the chance to strengthen themselves through character labels.
Luna, clearly aiming to compete for the Silver Moon Crystal as a Divinity-Sealing Angel Envoy, undoubtedly wouldn't give up this shortcut of using character labels. Hence, her choice to become Ren Suo's Pet Girl must have been a well-considered decision.
She didn't choose those character labels that allowed for solo experience grinding but instead chose one that required utilizing Ren Suo! Like me, Luna must hold great trust in Ren Suo!
Faced with Gu Yueyan's interrogation, Ren Suo was momentarily speechless; he really didn't know how to explain.
Luna did this naturally because of his perverse sense of humor when playing games... While playing the game, Ren Suo certainly wasn't worried about Luna encountering villains. Not to mention, by the third day, Luna already possessed formidable combat power and an unstable but ace-level Miracle up her sleeve. What's more, even if Luna really fell into some unfortunate scenarios because of the 'Pet Girl' character label, Ren Suo could always, with a heart full of righteous indignation, critically analyze Luna's defeat CG. After sufficient reflection, he would simply choose to reload the game, allowing Luna to seek revenge and settle any grudges... Of course, a normal person wouldn't just casually become someone else's Pet Girl. But from a player's perspective, it all made perfect sense—because it was fun. And whatever consequences arose could be negated by simply loading the game and trying again.
However, Ren Suo couldn't explain this to Gu Yueyan. Besides, Luna now had a real personality, and Ren Suo didn't know what Luna was truly thinking.
When Ren Suo found himself at a loss for words, he chose to change the subject. "By the way, Yueyan, why did you arrange such a character label for today..."
Gu Yueyan paused, turned her head to look at the pristine white walls, avoiding Ren Suo's gaze, and said with a slightly trembling voice, "I... I've never been on a cruise before, so I wanted to try it in the dream."
"Mm-hmm," Ren Suo nodded. He glanced at the seascape outside; though the Moonlit Night lent it a mysterious, almost terrifying ambiance, listening to the crashing waves while lying on the soft, large bed was truly a unique experience. It almost made him feel like a tycoon.
Gu Yueyan continued to explain, "I... I don't know why we only have one room. But it's actually good this way; there are many people on the cruise, so it's safer to stay together."
"Mm-hmm," Ren Suo looked around. Their suite was quite large, comparable to the house they had last night, with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and balcony. Staying in one suite was just right. Even if they had two separate suites, they would likely only use one, and Ren Suo wasn't comfortable with Gu Yueyan staying alone anyway.
Gu Yueyan added, "Your character labels for the past two days were related to doctors, so setting you as a poor doctor didn't take much effort. But a poor doctor has no connection to a luxury cruise. So, to bring you aboard, my character label had to be somewhat wealthier..."
"Mm-hmm." Ren Suo wholeheartedly agreed with Gu Yueyan's assessment. During the game, he also knew that character labels had a significant relationship with the environment. For example, when Luna was the Environmental King, she had to genuinely spend 1,000 shares to stay in a Luxury Mansion. But if Luna's character label had a 'wealthy' Attribute, she might only need to spend a tenth of those shares for the mansion.
High-end resources become cheaper as one's status increases. It's like how, in childhood, secretly playing on the computer in the middle of the night would result in a beating from Mom. But as an adult, playing openly on the computer would only earn some nagging.
Gu Yueyan glanced at Ren Suo and silently heaved a sigh of relief. "So... that's it, then."
"Then why is our relationship set as 'lovers at first sight'?"
As Ren Suo voiced his question, the room instantly fell into silence.
After a long pause, Gu Yueyan slowly turned her head, her cheeks flushed crimson. She stared at Ren Suo with a somewhat indignant look.
She asked, enunciating each word, "What else could it be?!"
How can you ask me such a question?
Ren Suo was baffled. He had meant to change the subject, but it seemed he had inadvertently stepped on another landmine.
He carefully watched Gu Yueyan, weighed his tone, and asked, "...Are you angry?"
"No!" Gu Yueyan said fiercely, biting her lower lip. "I'm asking you, if we're not lovers, what else could our relationship be?"
How do you expect me to answer that?
Ren Suo blinked and tentatively said, "Colleagues?"
"Colleagues would mean working together. Do you even know how to work?"
"Teacher and student?"
"What are you going to teach me? How to play games?"
"We just did siblings. So... father and daughter?"
"You actually want to be my dad!?"
Gu Yueyan turned to face the door and said, "Besides, all these roles you've suggested—do they offer more interaction than lovers? Is leveling up as efficient as with lovers? The 'lovers' tag is simply the easiest and most efficient for gaining experience!"
I have my pride too! I also hope my efforts are reciprocated!
Ren Suo thought about it, and indeed, it was true. He had Luna choose romantic character tags in the game, not just because of his perverse sense of humor. In fact, he wasn't in the habit of vicariously enjoying romance drama through game characters; it was purely because, in the list of character tags, the ones with the best cost-effectiveness were largely related to romantic interactions.
Gu Yueyan still seemed furious, sitting cross-legged on the bed with her back to him. It was then that Ren Suo noticed she was wearing a light, spaghetti-strap nightgown, which stirred something in him.
'Lovers' relationship tags... What he could do for Gu Yueyan...
After pondering for a moment, Ren Suo made up his mind. He rubbed his hands together eagerly and reached out towards Gu Yueyan.
「…」
In heat.
In heat.
Still in heat.
Luna jumped between balconies. Sounds of human mating echoed from the rooms. Yet, her heart remained unmoved; she even felt a little like laughing. Humans are always in heat. How pathetic. And they're so fiercely in heat, many females were screaming. It really must be painful when humans mate. My pet, Little Jade, also found a male during her heat cycle, but she never screamed like that. Little Jade is indeed better.
As she approached her new pet's room, Luna landed outside. Hearing no sounds of mating from within, she peeked inside. Sure enough, her new pet was busy pleasing another master—petting that female!
I knew it! The new pet is as messed up as Little Jade; he never goes into heat. Ah, he's so pitiful. But only such humans are worthy of being my new pets.
Luna landed quietly on the balcony and strode in as if she owned the place. Her new pet turned his head, saw her, and smiled. "You're back? You didn't eat when you left. We saved some food for you. Want some?"
Eat!
Luna turned her head and indeed saw a dish on the table that made her mouth water.
She looked at her new pet, suddenly feeling incredibly wronged. Following the instructions of that unknown entity, I fought desperately out there, all to ensure you, my new pet, could escape safely! And I ended up covered in injuries! To escape, I flew so fast, so, so fast, and my body ached so much, so, so much! Before, even squeezing into tiny cups didn't hurt at all, but now, escaping has made every bone and muscle in my body ache! And after the pain, it became incredibly itchy! It's unbearable, utterly unbearable! And yet, my new pet was staying in a safe place, comfortably enjoying delicious food with another female. Now that I'm right here in front of him, he still won't feed me but keeps petting that female! I'm so angry! Human, I am your master!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, the more resentful she felt. Though Luna's face remained calm, tears welled up in her eyes, as if from the sting of something intensely spicy.
With a sudden WHOOSH, Luna shot forward, knocking her new pet flying. She pinned him down, her hands glowing with Moonlight, and unleashed 「Frenzied Bite」 on him!
"It hurts so much! So much! So much! So much—I'm dying—"
Her new pet was momentarily stunned when knocked over. Then, as if remembering something, he sighed and lay on the floor, accepting his master's punishment without joy or sorrow.
The new pet's other master ran over, tried to pull Luna off, and said angrily, "Can you get off him!"
