Miss Shepherd does not die in the Mysterious World
Chapter 87 : Chapter 87
Chapter 87: My Very Own Melantha
After explaining everything that needed to be explained, Bond left.
Only Mel and Charlotte were left standing in the lobby of The Golden Stag Hotel, looking at each other.
“You....”
Mel stared blankly at Charlotte, seemingly still finding it hard to believe in the reality of the white-haired girl before her.
“Are you really...”
Hearing this, Charlotte smiled sweetly, looking much more full of life than in the dream.
She gently took Mel's hand and placed it on her own chest.
Mel was stunned, and then stunned again.
No heartbeat.
“This....”
She looked at Charlotte in astonishment, her eyes filled with disbelief.
“Why... is there none?”
“Have you forgotten, Melantha?”
Charlotte smiled, speaking softly.
“Because I am already dead. It was you who proved my existence with death.”
“But how did you appear... in reality?”
Mel was puzzled.
“I don't know either....”
Charlotte shook her head gently.
“After your knife completely pierced my heart, I was indeed dead.
Just like the countless cycles before, but also different.
This time, my consciousness did not dissipate.”
Charlotte sat on the sofa, looking down at her hands.
“In a daze, I seemed to have arrived at a place where I met someone. A person with.... golden hair and blue eyes.”
Hearing this, Mel's pupils contracted abruptly.
“Her name.... is it....”
“She said her name is Veronica.”
Charlotte met Mel's gaze.
“She also told me that you are not actually called Melantha—your name is Mel Rossetti.”
“Where did you see her?”
Mel hurriedly asked, but Charlotte shook her head.
“I don't know either.... but I talked with her a lot, and she told me many things about you.... then, she said it was time for me to wake up. So, I opened my eyes. When I woke up, I found myself lying in a room in the manor, and everything around me was so real. After I woke up, I went to find father... no, I went to find Count Charles Michel. He was also very surprised to see me, and then he asked if I wanted to stay and inherit the identity of the Michel family. I refused.”
Charlotte said softly.
“Because, when I woke up, Miss Veronica asked a favor of me. You were right, Miss Melantha. She is indeed a very gentle person.”
“She....”
Mel's voice suddenly became a little choked, “What did she say to you?”
Charlotte looked into Mel's eyes, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly.
“She asked me not to let you be alone.”
Charlotte gently held Mel's hand.
“I once heard a saying—reality is the opposite of dreams. In the dream, you were my knight. Then in reality, let me be your knight, Miss Melantha.”
Under Mel's gaze, the girl before her gently raised her own hand, then lowered her head.
The soft touch of lips came from the back of her hand.
“From this moment on, I will bear witness to your existence.”
She said.
“Just as you bore witness to mine.”
After leaving The Golden Stag Hotel, the two of them set off for the Hermes Workshop.
Mel and Charlotte sat in the carriage, the white-haired girl curiously looking out at the scenery through the window.
For Charlotte, who had existed within the manor since birth, everything outside the manor was worth being curious about.
Like a newborn child.
“By the way,” looking at Charlotte's side profile, Mel suddenly thought of something and said.
“Why do you still call me Melantha, Charlotte, when you already know my real name?”
Hearing this, Charlotte turned her head to look at Mel, then sat up straight.
“Because....”
The girl's vermilion lips parted slightly, “this name is a unique connection between us, representing everything we have experienced together. Mel Rossetti can be everyone's Mel Rossetti, but Melantha....”
She leaned over slightly, getting closer to Mel.
“This name is exclusively mine.”
“Charlotte....”
Listening to Charlotte's words, Mel's heart couldn't help but beat a little faster.
Suddenly, Charlotte leaned forward and pressed her lips against Mel's.
Mel was stunned at first, then her whole person quickly turned red, flailing her hands in a panic.
“Mwah”
When the two separated, both were a little breathless.
A faint blush appeared on Charlotte's cheeks, but her eyes shone with a satisfied light.
Mel leaned back against the seat, panting heavily, covering her mouth in some disbelief.
“You...”
“We've arrived, Miss Melantha.”
Charlotte spoke, interrupting Mel.
Before Mel could recover from the kiss, she was pulled out of the carriage by Charlotte.
The girl's cheeks were still burning, her heart pounding violently.
The two walked into the Hermes Workshop, which was filled with all sorts of peculiar mechanical steam devices, with people dressed as craftsmen coming and going.
Charlotte looked around curiously, while Mel took out the letter Bond had given her from her pocket.
“Although Mr. Bond said it's fine to find anyone....”
The girl's gaze swept around, finally stopping on a lady at the front desk.
“It's better to go to the front desk honestly.”
With that, Mel arrived at the front desk, looking at the receptionist who was boredly fiddling with some mechanical device with a cigarette dangling from her mouth.
“Hello.... I'm looking for someone.”
Hearing this, the woman behind the front desk glanced casually at Mel, then flicked the cigarette ash.
“Who are you looking for?”
Mel placed the letter in her hand on the table and passed it over.
Upon seeing the Michel family's wax seal on the envelope, the receptionist raised an eyebrow, then reached out to take it.
Without asking anything else, she tore open the envelope right in front of Mel and took out the contents inside.
She quickly scanned the contents of the letter, then looked Mel and Charlotte up and down, a playful look flashing in her eyes.
“I see, you're looking for Lady Hestia.”
Then, she brought the letter close to the cigarette butt, letting it be burned to ashes by the flame.
“You...”
“Come with me, ladies.”
The woman stood up, beckoned to the two with her finger, then turned and walked towards the workshop.
Mel and Charlotte exchanged a glance, then followed behind her.
The three of them passed through a maze of workshops and laboratories, arriving at a heavy metal door.
The woman pulled the door open, and a metallic smell, mixed with a faint scent of blood, rushed to their noses.
“Come in, it might be a bit crowded, but don't mind it.”
Mel and Charlotte walked into the workshop before them.
The girl looked around curiously, then noticed a machine running in the very center of the workshop.
That machine was filled with the beauty of flesh and blood technology, with many cables connected to it.
It was the culprit that made this space so crowded.
“Um... excuse me, where is Lady Hestia?”
Mel looked at the smoking woman to the side.
“Also.... there's a no-smoking sign here....”
Hearing this, the woman glanced at the sign, then shrugged and placed the cigarette from her mouth on the table.
“Wait, I'll go call her down.”
With that, she turned and walked towards a staircase leading up.
But after less than about two minutes, she came down again.
She had also changed her clothes.
The woman picked up the cigarette from the table and put it back in her mouth, then sat down on the only chair in the entire workshop.
“So.... what's the matter?”
She asked.
Mel and Charlotte looked at each other, then the former reacted first and asked tentatively:
“You wouldn't happen to be....”
“That's right, I am Hestia.”
The woman blew a smoke ring and nodded.
“Creator Hestia.”
