Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva
Chapter 1297 28: The Decree in the Cold Wind (Part 2)
"What are you thinking about, Hexia?" Loloria flew over from the other side, a slight airflow puffing out from under her thick armor skirt, allowing her to land steadily on the haystack.
"I'm thinking about where we are in the Milky Way," the girl answered casually, then turned her gaze to the mechanical girl bent over beside her.
Unlike the cold AI she imagined, Loloria had a personality similar to her appearance, even more lively and curious, reminding Hexia of a theory: that an impersonator is often more like the 'person' than the person themselves.
This is because the 'person' familiar to the public is often the most famous image of that individual, while the real identity is more complex, thus differing slightly from public expectations of the 'person'. An impersonator, on the other hand, doesn't consider these nuances and treats the image as the whole, adapting to the simulation, so that the best improvisers may appear more like what the public expects than the person themselves.
The emotions of mechanical life, whether they are a result of self-awareness or personality coefficient settings, left Hexia somewhat puzzled and curious.
"This isn't the location of the Galaxy coordinates when I followed everyone in the attack back then." Loloria sat beside Hexia, naturally hugging her knees with both hands, then turned her head towards Hexia.
"When I came, this planet should have been in the central part of the Centaurus Arm, where the entanglement of various forces was most intense and frequent."
"Now, judging by the position and coordinates of the stars, we should be at the end of the Orion Arm."
"So, does that mean the entire planet has traversed more than half of the Milky Way?" Tilan exclaimed in surprise.
"Such a feat, even the suns of the time, would find extremely challenging. Loloria can't figure out who was so displeased," she said, looking back at the galactic stardust overhead.
"If any sun indeed pulled off something like this, it would have been a desperate last act."
"Perhaps it was to find a retreat for themselves. This planet should be shrouded in a special obscuring concealment force field; otherwise, it would have been destroyed long ago." Tilan, considering the Federation's history since its establishment, knew that unless a Federation starship or probe had discovered this planet, it would have been obliterated by the Rose Federation's fleet long ago.
"Loloria lost the link to the Mechanical Sun and doesn't know what happened."
"However, Hexia, you come from a civilized society, and you are a primordial human. Does that mean our final battle was a victory for us?" Loloria looked at the girl with eager anticipation.
"Yes, we won, but the Mechanical Sun·Soft was also sacrificed in the distant past."
"Since the last battle ended, the entire Milky Way has enjoyed nearly a millennium of peace and stability, everything as those pioneers once hoped for. We ushered in a beautiful and stable era with no rampant genetic modification, inhuman wars, or policies that stripped away humanity." Hexia tried to keep her voice gentle, telling Loloria about the tearful, beautiful moment when the Sixth Era was founded.
"That's wonderful. Even though we all sacrificed, it's good that you survived. Surely, humans nowadays can create mechanical life forms even cuter and stronger than me."
After hearing this, Hexia lowered her head and shook it slightly.
"No, after the new era began, because of the vast divide between mechanical life and primordial humans, it finally split into two nations. Your successors are the Sigma Mechanical Council, but I know little about their situation and news."
"Oh, they actually separated? Not being together with humans must be quite boring," Loloria blinked.
"Many of my behaviors and action templates come from real humans. If I lose my objects of observation, won't I just keep repeating that outdated data all the time? That would be too boring."
"Do mechanical beings also feel boredom?" Hexia tilted her head in inquiry.
"Yes, it is one of the settings in the primeval code. The reason for this setting is to prevent certain logical dead ends, using the trigger of boredom to automatically escape from stagnant threads."
"Moreover, according to the leading sisters, the existence of the trait of boredom also drives us to continually learn and explore new things, which benefits the normal development and evolution of our entire race."
"That's really nice." Tilan murmured softly, and at that moment, she began to believe that mechanical life had gained a real sense of self and emotion, rather than merely being mechanical AIs executing orders.
Why did the Federation part ways with the Mechanical Council back in the day? If from the end of the Fifth Epoch, the two could have lived together harmoniously, they should have been able to create an even greater and vibrant civilization.
Unfortunately, on this unknown star at the edge of the Milky Way, finding an answer is quite difficult; everything will have to return to the Federation center, and only from the Fortress Star of the Floral Crown Star Domain or the Sigma Mechanical Council can one learn the truth of those days.
They continued conversing quite a bit until afar, they saw that night sky full of flames.
"That is..." Hexia slowly stood up, gazing at the blazing fire illuminating the sky.
"I'm afraid I can't chat with Loloria anymore now."
Hexia's body slowly ascended into the sky, and under the astonished gazes of those below, she gradually lifted one hand, numerous air currents coursing past her side, forming a high-speed wind tunnel.
Her hair and skirt fluttered; a faint blue light gathered, forming thin, transparent wings behind Hexia, evoking an image reminiscent of the mythical fairy race.
"I'm returning to Shilin Mountain Castle to check the situation. Be cautious." The people present suddenly heard the girl's crystal-clear voice, as if it reverberated directly in their minds.
By the time everyone's attention returned to the night sky, the girl's figure was no longer visible, only a single twinkling star disappearing at the horizon, just like those countless stars overhead, no longer within sight.
"So fast, even faster than Loloria's flying." In mid-air, the mechanical girl looked in awe at the direction where Hexia had vanished.
"Has primordial humanity become so strong now? No wonder they no longer need our assistance."
Under the night sky, Hexia flew faster and higher, her figure surpassing the speed of sound, breaking through the atmosphere to reach the sky tens of thousands of meters high, as if every cell was operating at high speed, adapting to the environment under this terrifying speed.
Since the Winter Festival competition many years ago, this was the first time Hexia had pushed her speed to such a degree, feeling awkward initially but becoming more agile and smooth as she continued, her body gradually adapting to a state crossing kilometers in a second, and Hexia vaguely felt this wasn't her limit yet. If she advanced to Sequence 7, she could truly touch the threshold of the mythical fairies of old.
In less than a minute, Tilan had arrived above Shilin Mountain Castle, which had now turned into a sea of fire, with burning buildings everywhere, streets devoid of people, and no sign of any living creature. Had the streets and buildings not been littered with various traces of blood and bones, Hexia might have thought she'd come at the wrong timeline.
Ores...
Tension and worry filled the girl's heart as she swooped down from high above, penetrating the rooftops of the city, landing directly in a house at the castle's edge.
The room remained tidy, without signs of damage, but Ores was nowhere to be seen.
Where could she have gone? Tilan pressed her fingers against her chest, pale silver auras spreading from her forehead, flying in all directions.
This faintly imperceptible dim glow traveled through various stones and buildings, reflecting everything within 20 kilometers of Shilin Mountain Castle into her consciousness.
...
Finally, on the vast western expanse of Shilin Mountain Castle, under the pursuit of the Insect Swarm, a struggling team for survival was 'seen' by Hexia.
So, they were there. After 'seeing' Ores' familiar silver-haired figure, Tilan breathed a sigh of relief, but then also became slightly annoyed.
Her temper has always been good, except in unforgivable cases rare for her to become angry. Yet, witnessing the collapsed buildings and countless heaps of fragmented bones inside the entire castle did agitate her emotions somewhat.
On this unknown star, devoid of the Federation's gaze and without the Court of Judgment following, what could I achieve...
Under the night sky, silver-grey long hair fluttered, leaving a silver trail across the dark heavens. Nobody knew up high in the heavens, hovering vapor began gathering and condensing, icy cold ice crystals blooming in the night.
Gusts of snow and ice winds blew, plunging the entire land back into harsh winter, as silent frost spread over the barren ground, extending toward the distance. Numerous insects flying through the air flew lower in the cold stream, eventually falling to the ground, becoming mere dust particles on the earth.
In ancient legends, Brennard was known as the Primeval Angel, famed for his harshness and coldness, with icy wind and silver ice as his commands.
