Chapter 1306: Suicide Mission (1)

    ?

    "...

Frowning with his arms crossed, Hal stared at the young man in front of him with equal parts disbelief and amazement.

"What?" Of course, having already taken notice of his shock the moment he appeared in front of him once more, Valyr gave his friend a teasing smile. "You really thought I wouldn''t be able to do it?"

"I mean..." Hearing those words, Hal quickly shifted his gaze to the side, not wanting to meet the young man''s gaze whatsoever. "It''s not that I wasn''t expecting you to be able to do it..."@@@@

"Hehe." In response, Valyr merely let out a chuckle, finding it amusing that the man continued to deny that he ever doubted his abilities.

''Then again, completing those 5 missions in the amount of time I gave myself is definitely something I shouldn''t do more often,'' thought the young man to himself after that as he briefly thought back to how it all unfolded.

With the arrival of the other members of the War Squad being set as his deadline, Valyr did not hesitate to use his movement skill to arrive at the battlefield as soon as possible.

Leaving Hal stare at his fleeting back as he zoomed through the skies, the young man showed no mercy towards the targets for his mission, even going so far as to make use of his usual string of buffs to give himself an easier time.

Unsurprisingly, with the combination of the magic staff he made solely attuned to Prime Azure Energy, that turned out to be the case for the first two missions he grabbed, only needing him to kill a set number of orcs and elves that reached a certain level of strength.

Though he did find it somewhat difficult to obtain items that confirmed his kills due to how destructive his skills were, Valyr was still able to amass enough items to complete those missions without worry.

However, once he decided to aim for the requirements needed to complete the three remaining missions under his belt, the difficulty in doing so considerably increased than before.

Of course, the increase in difficulty wasn''t due to the fact that orcs and elves that had a similar level of strength to him started to paint him as their target.

After all, even he had difficulty finding beings from the two opposing races at that level of strength on the battlefield.

"Canceled," answered Hal succinctly. "At first, it was delayed because of the sudden appearance of the players, but the fact that the elves joined the fray caused the idea to be scrapped entirely."

"Is that so?" Valyr raised his eyebrow at those words, prompting him to ponder over the Myriad Prodigies Tournament Mystia mentioned to him in passing back then.

''I wonder if that tournament ever continued?'' asked the young man, only for him to stop his train of thought as a trio of individuals appeared before them.

"You''re finally here," said Hal, standing up with a smile as he greeted the three. "What took you guys so long?"

"Got ambushed by elves along the way," replied Vera with a low sigh as the two that came along with her nodded in agreement. "Fortunately, Harold was there to diffuse the situation."

"Gotcha." Nodding in response to her words, Hal soon shifted his gaze towards Valyr before looking back at the others. "I''ve already mentioned this before, but Ylvar here will be accompanying us on the mission assigned to us."

"I suppose none of us have any problems with that, no?"

Hearing that question, the three quickly shook their heads, with Vera even giving Valyr a slight smile after not seeing each other for a while.

Returning the smile back to Vera, Valyr faintly nodded at the other three as he stood up, only to then send Hal a message through the system. "Since the entire squad is now all here, mind if I ask for more information on the mission we''ll be taking?"

Slightly frowning at the message he received from the young man, Hal eventually acceded as he inwardly let out a low sigh. "I was planning to tell you and the others about it along the way, but I suppose it doesn''t hurt informing you about it in advance."

"The mission given to us is an assassination mission."

"Assassination?" Valyr''s eyes slightly widened at those words. "Who''s our target, then?"

"Targets, actually. We''ve got to kill two of them," clarified Hal.

"As for who those targets are..."

"That would be the Grand Chieftain of the Khagarax Empire and the High Sovereign of the Ala''ina Empire."
