Chapter 50 Father and Son Reunion: That Heartless Father of Mine Abandoned Us…
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50 FATHER AND SON REUNION: THAT HEARTLESS FATHER OF MINE ABANDONED US...
Adrian Davies frowned and looked at the little boy, asking, "What are you going to do in the advertising department?"
Now, looking at this boy who only reached his leg and wearing a Mickey Mouse mask, with those bright black eyes staring back at him, Adrian suddenly felt that his eyes were just like Daniel’s.
Oh no, also like that woman, that soaking wet woman in black—Melody Parker.
The boy lifted his head, the Mickey Mouse mask hiding his face but also covering his expression, "My mommy works there. Uncle, I’m not feeling well. I want to find Mommy and ask her to take me to the hospital. Can you take me to my mommy?"
The boy’s voice was crisp but with a raspy tinge of illness, his bright black eyes looking at Adrian with a touch of pitiful innocence, inexplicably stirring a little heartache in Adrian.
He had always been a germaphobe and disliked contact with strangers.
His company was highly disciplined, and nothing like a child coming to find an employee had ever happened before.
Oh well, considering that he was about the same age as Daniel and seemed so pitiful, he would turn a blind eye just this once.
Adrian generously did not pursue anything further, saying nothing as he continued striding forward.
Seeing him walk away, the boy hurriedly caught up, "Uncle, wait for me!"
Adrian didn’t stop his pace, his long legs taking strides equivalent to two or three of the boy’s steps.
To catch up, the boy began to jog.
But after just a few steps, he fell heavily to the ground, "Ouch!"
Hearing the boy’s cry of pain, Adrian instinctively stopped, turned around, and helped the boy up, "Are you okay?"
His voice was still cold, but it carried a faint, almost unnoticeable hint of concern.
The boy, unable to stand steadily, fell into Adrian’s arms, "Uncle, my, my leg seems to have cramped. It hurts so much!"
Seeing the boy’s little hand, slightly bloodstained, clutching tightly at the corner of his clothes, Adrian frowned irritably.
He had a severe germaphobia, and the boy’s bloody hand messed up his clothes. He should have immediately pushed him away.
But looking at those small bloodstained hands, he only felt annoyance without any intention to push him away.
He looked at the boy’s bright eyes, speaking coldly, "Be careful walking. Running so fast, falling is what you deserve."
The boy’s bright eyes were misty, "Uncle, I, I just wanted to catch up with you."
Adrian was speechless, struggling for quite a while, and eventually said nothing as he picked the boy up.
"Uncle, are you taking me to find Mommy?" the boy asked excitedly in Adrian’s arms.
Adrian nodded with a cold face, "Yes."
The boy was ecstatic, giving Adrian a kiss on the face through the mask, "Thank you, Uncle, you’re such a good person!"
The warm breath landed on Adrian’s face, deepening his frown.
He really wasn’t interested in, and even repulsed by, creatures like children and women.
But this child actually kissed his face through the mask, challenging him just like that woman.
Yet, he didn’t throw the child out, and instead, felt his face heat up, a bit embarrassed.
Moreover, this child smelled kind of nice... like milk?
Adrian still carried the boy into the elevator, speaking coldly, "If you can’t even take care of your own child, you don’t deserve to work at the Davies Clan."
Upon hearing Adrian’s evaluation of Mommy, the boy immediately protested, "That’s not true, Uncle! Mommy is amazing! She supports the family all by herself and takes care of me. She’s really working hard! You can’t say that about Mommy."
All by herself?
Could it be that this boy’s mommy is a single mother?
"Where’s your daddy?"
The boy’s eyes dimmed, "I don’t have a daddy."
Adrian: ...
Unmarried and pregnant?
Adrian coldly snorted, "Someone with questionable conduct has no place at the Davies Clan."
The boy indignantly refuted, "Uncle, the one with issues is my heartless daddy. He’s the one who abandoned us. Mommy works so hard, how can she not stay at the Davies Clan?"
Confronted by the boy’s rebuttal, Adrian found himself momentarily speechless.
The elevator ascended slowly, stopping at the advertising department on the 21st floor.
Adrian was about to take the boy inside when his phone rang first.
The boy took the opportunity to get down from Adrian’s arms, "Thank you, Uncle! You go ahead with your work, I’ll find Mommy by myself."
With that, the boy darted toward the advertising department.
Adrian didn’t pay much attention, answering his phone.
Entering the elevator at the same time, he pressed the button for the executive floor.
Without Adrian noticing, as the elevator doors closed, the boy who had charged into the sales department stood not far from the elevator entrance.
His bright eyes gleamed with an unusual light. After the elevator doors closed again, he walked straight to the elevator and pressed the button for another elevator, leaving.
The boy walked steadily, showing no sign of cramps or illness, swaggering out of the Davies Tower and flagging down a taxi to head off.
This boy who had coincidentally met Adrian and went to the advertising department to find his mommy was none other than the little tadpole looking for his daddy—Benjamin Parker.
After leaving the Davies Tower, Benjamin Parker took off the mask and went straight home.
Opening the door, he was a bit surprised to see the shoes Melody Parker wore in the morning scattered at the entrance.
He quickly took off his shoes and dashed inside, "Mommy, are you home?"
"..."
No response, Benjamin Parker directly pushed open Melody Parker’s bedroom door.
"Melody?"
"..." Still no answer, but Benjamin Parker felt relieved because he heard the sound of water flowing in the bathroom.
"So, Melody is showering! She gave me a fright; I thought something had happened."
In the morning, Barrett Carter had messaged, saying Mommy had gone to the cemetery.
He knew Mommy went to visit Grandma.
Some things Mommy didn’t want him to know, so he respected her wishes and chose not to know.
But he thought his Melody must be very sad right now, and he had to comfort her well.
Benjamin Parker returned to the living room and sat down on the sofa.
Before long, Melody Parker came out of the bedroom after showering, smiling as she saw Benjamin Parker, "Honey, you’re back?"
Benjamin Parker nodded, "Yes, Melody, come here."
Melody Parker smiled and sat down next to Benjamin Parker.
Benjamin Parker took the towel from her hand and began drying her dripping hair, "Melody, why did you shower so early?"
"I got caught in the rain on the way home, so I showered first."
After speaking, Melody Parker looked gently at Benjamin Parker, "Honey, you’re so caring. Whoever becomes your wife in the future is going to be spoiled by you, isn’t she?"
