Chapter 410: Fight Or Admit Weakness.
CHAPTER 410: FIGHT OR ADMIT WEAKNESS.
Thor didn’t mind her grumpy tone. He even grinned and summoned his golem as he replied provocatively, "You know what I want."
Princess sneered and said to him, "Aren’t you that loser that I defeated without being able to resist? Are you here for another round of beating? Are you a masochist?"
Thor didn’t get angry because of what she said. He calmly brought out the energy shield projected and activated it. A pale golden glow appeared around him. This gave him the confidence to go ahead with his plan.
Actually, he couldn’t become angry because he didn’t have the right to become angry. Her words were true too. If he doesn’t have something that gives him the right to challenge her, then he would simply be repeating his earlier defeat.
But now that the shield had been activated, he felt confident enough to retort, "We will see who likes a beating very soon."
Both Leroy and Princess had to take him seriously because they sensed the quality and intensity of the energy shield around him. The energy shield was silent, but it spoke volumes.
The energy shield made them realize that it was nearly impossible for them to defeat Thor if he stood still and they attacked him for a day. But Princess refused to back down.
She gritted her teeth and said, "So you want to bully me with money and powerful artifacts. Bring it on."
Leroy sighed again and said, "I am the one that’s supposed to be influenced by lightning and be irrational. How come I have to be the one to be reasonable between the two of us?"
Princess didn’t reply. She only looked at him with eyes full of pride and a silent plea.
Her eyes let him know that she was asking for his help. But if he didn’t offer help or if his help failed to save her, she was willing to take the beating if it came to it. She was willing to break rather than bend.
So he sighed and said to Thor and Arthur, "I understand that the two of you have been offended by her. You won’t be the first people, and you certainly won’t be the last. She simply has a bad personality, and that personality might be the end of her."
Princess yelled in protest, "Hey."
He ignored her and continued pleading her case. "If you don’t know, she isn’t human, so she was raised differently. She also has a bloodline that influences her negatively."
"Her bloodline makes her very proud. She believes that humans are lesser creatures to her. So what she did wasn’t personal. It was simply the result of a poor upbringing. Please forgive her."
Thor became unsure after he heard that apology. He looked at Arthur for a suggestion, but Arthur simply shrugged in indication that he could do whatever he wanted.
So Thor said, "OK. I can forgive her. But she will have to offer an apology like you did. As long as she says she is sorry for humiliating me like that and admits that I am strong, then I will let bygones be bygones."
Leroy winced when he heard that reasonable requirement. Just as he winced, Princess yelled at them, "Never."
She made her determination clear: "I will never say sorry."
Arthur shook his head in pity and said to Leroy, "I’m curious. I don’t know what you saw in her, but I would like to say how you made her reciprocate your affections."
Leroy answered proudly, "I beat her many times."
Arthur said to Thor, "It seems we have our solution."
Thor smashed his fists together and said, "I’m glad that we were able to come to a common conclusion."
Leroy shook his head and asked Princess, "Must you be eaten before you admit that you were wrong?"
Even before he asked the question, he already knew the answer.
She replied, "How would I know that he is really stronger than me if I don’t fight him?"
Then looked at Thor as she said, "There is no way that I will admit defeat without a fight. Besides, I think he is bluffing. I can take him."
Leroy said with resignation, "I guess we will have to fight then."
Arthur gestured to Leroy and said, "Let’s give them a room."
It was both a suggestion and a threat. If Leroy doesn’t leave and let Thor fight Princess alone, Arthur will join the fight on Thor’s side. Leroy didn’t want to see that, so he decided to listen to Arthur.
The two of them separated from the group and went to stand some distance away. This left Princess and Thor confronting each other.
Princess took out some sharp spindle-shaped thorns and threw them around her. The thorns roasted around her, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
She also took out a whip, which she brandished with flair and skill. Thor, on the other hand, only sent his golem forward to do battle on his behalf.
His golem was carrying a large sword the size of a door. But it set the sword down so as not to kill her. Then it rushed towards her, creating large pits in the ground.
The battle should have ended after a second. The golem rushed at Princess and punched at her. She used her divine ability on it to sever the connection between it and Thor, but this didn’t work.
The move could work actually. She was just too weak to overwhelm the structural integrity of the control hub in the golem.
Her failure meant that the golem didn’t stop at all. It caught up to her in less than a second and punched her.
The punch slammed into her shoulders because she was trying to dodge it. She failed to dodge and was sent flying.
When she hit the ground, her shoulder had dislocated, and there were some fractures in her clavicle. Some of her bones even tore through her muscles and poked out of her skin.
