Chapter 586: Cooking Trouble.
CHAPTER 586: COOKING TROUBLE.
Arthur thought to himself, "If I did kill her sister, then she must have impressive restraint."
He didn’t bother to deny the claim that he killed her younger sister because he had killed too many people to remember. At this rate, he wouldn’t be surprised if the patriarch of the Purple Flower sect appeared and said that he killed their cousin or something.
Back in the face-off, Pale Shadow said, "If you don’t want to be around him, then you can leave. But if you’re hell-bent on being childish and selfish, then you will have to go through me."
Green Viper glared at her for a while. Then he said, "Fine."
After that, he took his leave. He flew and left the banquet hall immediately.
But before he left, he made sure to give Arthur one of his intense, venomous glares. It was clear that even though he had been convinced not to try to kill Arthur, he was not at all willing to let Arthur’s sin go.
This wasn’t surprising to both Arthur and Pale Shadow. After all, Green Viper had chosen not to forgive Arthur when Arthur refused to shake his hand and hug him. So it was perfectly reasonable that Green Viper wasn’t willing to let this new offense go.
Green Viper’s exit left only Arthur and Pale Shadow at the banquet. Arthur didn’t know what she was feeling by being in the presence of the person who killed her sister, but as the murderer of said sister, he felt that the situation was awkward.
The only good thing about Green Viper’s outburst was that the hall had quieted down and the banquet was continuing. This was because Green Viper hadn’t bothered to keep their conversation a secret and had been very vocal about his intentions to fight Arthur to the death.
The spat between the golden core cultivators had drawn the attention of everyone below. When Green Viper left and the spat ended, no one had the intention to continue their previous arguments. After all, what else could compare to two golden core cultivators about to come to blows?
Whatever they could get up to would pale in comparison to Green Viper’s challenge. So they just gave up and ate their food obediently like children that had been outdone.
But deep down, the undercurrents were surging. The issue that caused the confrontations hadn’t ended at all. In fact, it had spread to the outer and inner parts of the Purple Flower sect through their communication channels.
So Pale Shadow’s interruption had only let the matter spread and fester. Green Viper had also gone to make matters worse.
Arthur thought about this and groaned inwardly as he thought to himself, "Even before I enter the sect to begin the mission, trouble is already cooking for me."
He shook his head and said, "I truly am the worst person to come here and be in charge of this mission."
After thinking about who should replace him for the mission, he chuckled inwardly and said, "Then again, who in our sect is suitable to be an ambassador for our sect?"
Trouble began to brew as soon as he arrived in the Purple Flower sect because of his identity as a terror for the other sects. This made him think that things would have been better if someone else had come to take charge of the exchange mission.
But as he looked for his replacement, he realized that no one from his sect could take charge of the mission without encountering the problem that he encountered. After all, the Blood Skull sect was a sect of killers and pillagers.
In fact, the more he thought about how much trouble any other golden core elder would have to go through, the more he realized that there was no avoiding trouble because golden core elders of the Blood Skull sect are oftentimes the most notorious members of the sect.
He just had to look at Storm Hawk to see how much trouble anyone capable of reaching the golden core rank in the Blood Skull sect is capable of.
Storm Hawk had taken him on a fishing game in which an entire cultivation family was destroyed. Even a talented golden core elder of the Sword Way sect died during that fishing game.
This is just the one fishing game that she did that he is aware of and participated in. He is sure that she must have participated in many other fishing games. And is also so sure that she participated in the inter-sect competition and killed a lot of people from the various sects.
Then there is the fact that after she advanced to the fourth mortal coil, she held a party that involved raiding and pillaging across the Five Veins region. Many disciples of the Blood Skull sect died, so he is certain that many more people from other sects and cultivation families must have died during this advancement party.
This was the final nail in the coffin that proved and buried the fact that every golden core elder in the Blood Skull sect must have offended a lot of people.
He thought to himself in jest, "At least I didn’t throw an advancement party. The worst trouble I caused was to kill some disciples at the second mortal coil during the intersect competition. Compared to Senior Void Claw, who killed a nascent soul elder, I’m a saint."
While he was amusing himself and feeling proud about his sainthood, he heard Pale Shadow speak to him.
She said, "When you first introduced yourself, I was taken aback by your Daoist title. But after thinking about it for some time, I think I understand why you would call yourself a tyrant."
She said that and became quiet. It was as if she had thought long and hard about something and finally wanted him to know what she was thinking about.
Apparently, all she wanted was for him to know what she was thinking about. She didn’t bother to explain her conclusion to him or say anything after that.
