Mountain Sitting Immortal
Chapter 643 643: Tempting Situation.
This cricket chirping formation is deadly to personnel, be they humans or animals. Unfortunately, its effect can be blocked by barrier shields. But once the protection of barrier shields is removed, its deadly power can be fully displayed.
The effect of the cricket chirping formation ensured that nearly everyone in a mobile fortress died after they lost the protection of their barrier shield. Both the normal troops and the elite troops died.
Only their leaders with the nascent soul armor suits were able to withstand the power of the cricket chirping formation due to the powerful defense of their armor. But these survivors had to endure the constant chirping, which caused their heads to ache, and they still couldn't tell their left from their right because of the obscuring mist.
The rides of battle had turned. The lightning serpent formation and the flying ships were still bombarding and destroying the mobile fortresses, but the defenders didn't rest on their laurels. They quickly acted to press the advantage.
The patriarchs ordered the golden core cultivators who were sure of their strength to wade onto the battlefield and kill any surviving troops. By surviving troops, they meant the disoriented enemies wearing the rank 5 armor suits.
The invaders with the rank 5 armor suits are stronger than the golden core cultivators of the five sects. But they are currently helpless because of the obscuring mist. This will make them sitting targets for any golden core elder who wants to kill them.
Arthur was tempted to go to the frontline and join the fighting because he wanted to acquire one of the rank 5 armor suits for himself. But he overcame the impulse to put himself in danger because of greed.
He said to himself, "A rank 5 armor suit is good, but my life is better."
The main reason he doesn't want to risk his life for the rank 5 armor suit is that the battlefield is unpredictable. Anything can happen on the battlefield.
The defenders are currently winning, but they can begin to lose in the next moment. He doesn't want to be on the frontline if such a thing happens, so he decided to focus on the mission that he was given.
The patriarchs had also released a formation that they wanted help to install on the walls. This formation is a rank 5 one, but much larger than the three previous rank 5 formations combined. This is why the patriarchs needed his help.
Rather than risk his life on the ever-changing battlefield, he decided to do what he was good at and what was safe to do. But he was the minority in this decision. More than half of the golden core cultivators of the five sects went to the front line to kill the enemies.
Most of the golden core cultivators who took up the offer of the patriarchs were from the Blood Skull sect. They went because they were confident of their ability to harm the rank armor 5 suit.
If they can't even produce enough power to harm the rank 5 armor suit, then they would be wasting their time and putting their lives in danger. This was why the golden core cultivators of the other four sects decided not to go.
But the golden core cultivators of the Blood Skull sect had their armament, which doubled their power. Some of them even had vessel sigil techniques that can help them produce power that is far beyond their level.
Their capabilities made this an opportunity for them to loot rank 5 armor suits. The situation was dangerous, but they had the power to turn it into an opportunity.
Especially Void Claw. This famous golden core cultivator rushed towards the front line like a wind. This isn't a way to describe how he moved. He truly became something similar to wind.
His figure simmered as the silver tattoes on his skin lit up. Then his body became transparent and colorless like glass. As he shot forward, his translucent form made him difficult to track like the wind.
He chose an enemy and rushed towards them. The enemy was disoriented and in darkness, while the world was bright and visible to him, so his enemy didn't see him coming.
He didn't appear to do anything fancy. He simply smashed into the figure in the armor with his translucent body. Then his figure reformed some distance from the enemy.
When he reformed, Void Claw looked pale and out of breath. From the looks of things, he appeared to have overexherted himself. But he had a smile on his face as he looked at his enemy.
The enemy he just attacked was in a worse situation. Three smooth and clean cuts had suddenly appeared on his body.
The cuts were horizontal. One was below the next. The second, on the chest. Finally, the third cut was on his waist.
The cuts went through the enemy completely severing their body. With the three cuts working together, it looked like a giant beasts with three claws had cut taken a swipe at the enemy and cut them into four portions.
The best part is that the cut had only appeared on the body of the enemy. Their armor suit was still intact. Apparently, the armor suit couldn't defend against this kind of invisible attack.
Arthur saw this and his eye twitched. He put himself in the enemy's situation and realized that he didn't have any means to defend against that attack.
He said to himself solemnly, "This must be how he was able to kill that loose nascent soul cultivator. The only way to resolve that kind of attack is to avoid it. Since he is so fast, I will have to use my Overclock talent."
He can recognize that the ability that Void Claw used to attack that enemy is something similar to the Space Blink technique that he got enlightened about and wanted to use to advance to the fifth mortal coil.
