CHAPTER 655: NASCENT SOUL PILL.

When Arthur heard that patriarchs must create a replacement before they leave the sect, he remembered what Lady Evergreen had said about being tricked by her master.

She had said that she had been tricked into becoming a patriarch and taking up the curse that binds the patriarchs into finding someone who can create a foundation with two elements.

Sword Flash didn’t mention this or provide any reason why it was a tradition of the sect for the leaders of the sect to create replacements before they died.

He was stunned to hear that nascent soul cultivators could be converted into pills, that patriarchs of the sect had to give up their lives in order to create the nascent soul pills, and that the nascent soul pills could raise the chances of success of advancing to the fifth mortal coil by 50%.

The last part was the most shocking to him because it was the most important part to him. It was especially impactful because the best chance of success of advancing to the fifth mortal coil was 10%. So the nascent soul pill provides an increase of 500% to that 10%.

In comparison, he doesn’t care much that pills are refined from cultivators because he is familiar with pills refined using beasts and plants. He has taken such pills many times.

He has also taken the life essence elixir that is refined from either living or dead people. So he is not adverse to pills refined from people.

He just can’t believe that powerful people have to willingly give up themselves to be forged into the pills, which is why it was surprising to hear. Sword Flash had said that these patriarchs only had to do it when they were old and about to die, but it was still shocking to hear.
