Chapter 52: Luoxia Peak
CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: LUOXIA PEAK
This isn’t City Z, so she probably isn’t familiar with this place. After thinking it over, she decided to go along with him.
The two of them left the suite together. First, they went to the restaurant on the third floor for breakfast, and then Beichen Rui drove towards Luoxia Peak.
He had been there once before when the Luoxia Peak Scenic Area was opened to the public. Although it was a while ago, Beichen Rui had an excellent memory and quickly mapped out the route in his mind.
This time of day coincided with the morning rush hour, causing some traffic. By the time they reached Luoxia Peak, it was already past eleven in the morning.
After parking the car, the two of them started climbing up the mountain.
This place was some distance from the city, and it was a bit chilly, so Ye Xinluo draped her coat over her shoulders as she followed Beichen Rui up the mountain.
Looking up from there, one could vaguely see some white stuff at the top of the mountain, which was probably snow.
In City Z, although it gets very cold in winter, it has never snowed because of its geographical location.
This was Ye Xinluo’s first time seeing snow. She felt a bit excited.
At the foot of the mountain, there was a stone path that wound upwards, leading straight to the mountaintop, with many beautiful flowers planted alongside it. These flowers, carefully cultivated by man, bloomed brightly.
Looking at those flowers, Ye Xinluo couldn’t help but find it strange. It was winter, so why were there flowers from other seasons too?
She walked closer and touched the petals.
She smiled knowingly. So, some of these flowers were fake. Was this considered deceiving tourists?
The two of them continued along the stone steps, reaching a particularly steep section. Here, the stone steps gave way to a transparent glass walkway.
This was one of Luoxia Peak’s features—the glass walkway. To climb the mountain, this was the only path. Many timid tourists dared not proceed past this point.
However, driven by curiosity, many tourists chose to overcome their fears and continue upward.
Ye Xinluo walked in front, while Beichen Rui followed behind.
During previous training camp sessions, he had climbed mountains much higher and steeper than this, so the glass walkway before him posed no challenge for Beichen Rui.
He used to scale mountains with bare hands, and now that there are safety measures in place, there was no chance of any accidents happening.
The walkway, encircled with transparent glass, had some ventilation gaps. Anyone in the tourism business would definitely ensure safety measures are in place because, if something happened, what would they do?
Ye Xinluo led the way, her steps a bit slow, still somewhat unaccustomed to the height.
She was somewhat afraid of heights, avoiding looking down for fear that if she took a glance, she wouldn’t be able to continue. If not for her curiosity about the snow scene at the top, she’d want to retreat.
After walking forward for a while, they encountered two tourists; one was standing, while the other was sitting on the ground.
"I want to go home. I’m not going any further."
"It’s so high here; I’m not going any further. I want to go home."
The person sitting on the ground was somewhat agitated, unwilling to move forward, and the person accompanying him had no choice but to give in.
He reached out to help him up.
Just as Ye Xinluo walked past them and intended to move forward, the person who had been sitting was clearly startled.
His foot gave way, and he was about to fall to the ground. In a panic, he reached for Ye Xinluo.
Ye Xinluo was startled, and hurriedly stepped back. The man accompanying him reacted quickly, stepping forward to steady him, preventing a fall.
Ye Xinluo wasn’t so lucky. In her haste to retreat, she bumped directly into Beichen Rui, who was just two steps behind.
She collided with his hard chest and felt a sharp pain in her back.
As she was about to lose her balance and topple in the other direction, Beichen Rui encircled her waist, stabilizing her.
"What are you doing?" he asked with a hint of annoyance, frowning. Could this woman not even walk properly? Did she really leave her brains at home?
Ye Xinluo regained her senses and quickly pulled herself away from his embrace.
"I’m sorry, President."
The situation became a little awkward, feeling uncertain about what to do. Having followed the president on a business trip these past two days, she’d already bumped into his arms twice.
Would the president think she was deliberately throwing herself at him?
"If everything’s fine, let’s move on."
After helping Ye Xinluo to stand upright, he gave a cold glance at the man who had been sitting, whose legs went weak after the glare, already frightened.
With that small incident behind them, the two continued onward. After about twenty minutes, they reached the end.
Standing on the stone steps at the other end, she patted her chest with relief and looked back at the glass walkway, finding it hard to believe she had crossed it without screaming.
After walking a little further up, they reached a pavilion midway up the mountain, providing a rest spot.
Next to it was a small shop.
By now, it was nearing noon, and the crowd of tourists gradually increased. There were young men and women in threes and fives, as well as couples.
Ye Xinluo found a spot to sit, from where she could look down at the glass walkway.
By now, the walkway was bustling with tourists, some joyfully taking photos, while others sat in fear, unwilling to move.
Some were even being forcibly dragged along by their companions. Compared to that, she felt rather accomplished.
Just then, a bottle of water appeared in her view. Ye Xinluo turned to see Beichen Rui standing nearby, holding two bottles of water and sandwiches.
"Have something to eat first. We still have a while to go before reaching the top."
"Thank you, President," she said, taking the water and sandwich in hand. She hadn’t expected the president to show care.
After resting in the pavilion for a while, they continued on their climb. It took them another hour to reach the summit.
By now, it was afternoon, and growing hungry, Beichen Rui took Ye Xinluo to eat.
Beichen Rui led Ye Xinluo to an outdoor restaurant, which at the moment was bustling with people. They found a relatively quiet place to sit.
The table was large, with Ye Xinluo’s favorite pink roses in the center.
The language of pink roses is first love, particularly tender care.
Even though Ye Xinluo had never been in love, she had a penchant for pink roses.
From where they were sitting, they could see the snowy landscape atop Luoxia Peak.
The thick layer of snow created a white, dazzling expanse.
She took out her phone, opened the camera, and snapped a photo.
Then she opened WeChat, found Lan Shan’s contact, and sent the photo she just took.
After the message sent successfully, she locked her phone and set it on the table.
A moment later, her phone vibrated. She picked it up to see a message from Lan Shan.
"Ahhh..."
"Xinluo, where are you? This is so beautiful!"
She could imagine Lan Shan’s expression through the screen, and she was definitely excited too.
