Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 131: Are You Hurt Lil’ Brother?
CHAPTER 131: CHAPTER 131: ARE YOU HURT LIL’ BROTHER?
The timing of Rai’s abduction felt too perfect to ignore.
She knew it was part of Lone Wolf’s backup plan.
His real goal was to use it as leverage against Daniel.
Lone Wolf’s client was still unknown.
Still, Chantelle wanted revenge the moment she found out her children were taken away.
She didn’t care who did it. That person would pay for it.
Chantelle was fuming.
Without stopping to rest, Chantelle was getting closer to the target.
In the distance, she saw a red-roofed cabin hidden in the trees.
Inside the cabin, Railer lay on the only bed. His arm and leg were wrapped in bandages. With his back against the wall, he quietly pretended to be a helpless kidnap victim.
His captor must have thought he was harmless, so the rope around him was loose.
Railer didn’t look scared at all. Honestly, he was just bored.
The man who tied him up had left in a rush. From the silence outside, he wasn’t nearby anymore.
Railer shifted slightly and sat up in a more comfortable position. Then he took out his phone and opened the financial news.
He hadn’t had a chance to go over a few numbers before he got caught.
As soon as he unlocked his phone, a few messages appeared on the screen.
Frowning, Railer tapped on them and saw they were from Kane.
His phone had been on silent. That’s why Railer only saw the messages now.
Kane had followed him here.
Kane wrote, "Don’t be scared. I’m here to save you, Lil Brother."
"I saw the bad man leave, Lil’ Brother. Is there anyone else in the cabin?"
"Are you hurt, Lil’ Brother?"
Kane’s messages kept coming. Railer read each one slowly.
For some reason, he felt loved by him.
He figured he must be Kane’s brother.
Railer felt a little jealous because he wanted to grow up with Mommy too.
He let out a quiet sigh while his fingers moved quickly over the phone.
Railer typed, "I’m alone. You don’t have to rescue me. Go back and stay safe."
He thought about what to say before pressing send.
Railer found it hard to move because of his injuries.
There was no way he could get out without an adult’s help.
A kid wouldn’t be able to do much.
Railer didn’t want Kane to get hurt.
Even after sending the message, he heard a rustling sound near the cabin window.
He thought the man in black had returned, so he quickly hid his phone in his pocket.
But then, a small head appeared on the other side of the window.
It was Kane.
"I’m here to save you, Lil’ Brother!" he whispered with a smile.
Railer was about to say no, but Kane stepped on a block and started climbing through the window.
There was no use trying to stop him now.
Railer gave up and accepted Kane’s help.
Railer grew up without friends, so he never thought anyone would risk their life to save him.
Kane was the first to ever do that.
Feeling touched, Railer talked more gently once he pulled himself together.
"Thank you for coming to my rescue, Lil’ Brother," he said, looking at Kane.
A faint blush appeared on Railer’s cheeks as he thanked his brother for the first time.
"Huh? You can talk, Lil’ Brother, but I should remind you that I’m the older brother," Kane said, trying to look serious as he corrected him.
"Mommy said I’m the oldest." Railer stayed calm and gave a clear reason.
Kane pouted.
"I never heard Mommy say that. It doesn’t count. I came to save you. That proves I’m the older one."
"You can say what you want, lil’ brother, but some things in life can’t be changed," Railer said with patience.
"I don’t care. You’re the younger brother!"
"We’re in a tough spot right now. Let’s find a way out of here and ask Mommy about it later." Railer didn’t think this was the right time to argue with Kane.
If the kidnapper came back, Kane could get hurt too. That’s why Railer made the suggestion.
At first, Railer wanted to wait for the adults. But now that Kane was here, he knew the boy wouldn’t leave without him.
So, Railer made up his mind to go on an adventure with his talkative brother.
"Deal!" Kane quickly agreed.
He knew it wasn’t smart to argue about it now. Even though Kane believed he was the older one, Railer was hurt and had been taken away. So, he let it go for now.
He began to plan the escape with Railer.
Luckily, Kane came ready.
With a proud smile, he pulled a foldable skateboard from his backpack.
He quickly set it up and tied a rope to one end.
"Come on, Lil’ Brother. I’ll pull you."
"Mommy should be here soon since she knows we’re missing. We just need to find a good place to hide. I saw a small cave nearby on my way here..."
Kane proudly showed his gear to Railer, clearly hoping for some praise.
"You’re smart, Kane," Railer said, giving him the response he wanted.
"Of course. I got Mommy’s brains!"
Kane grinned and gave himself a proud nod.
That was Railer’s sign to stop the praise. He quietly shifted his small body and sat on Kane’s foldable skateboard.
"Let’s go. The door isn’t locked."
"Why didn’t you say that earlier if you knew the door was open?" Kane asked, feeling down.
It took a lot of work to climb through the window. Now, Kane was all dirty.
Rai was mean!
"You didn’t ask."
"I..." Kane paused. That was true. He never asked.
Kane went silent. Forget it.
He decided to let it slide since his little brother was hurt.
"Lil’ Brother, one of my hands still works. Can you find me a stick? I can help a bit, so you don’t have to drag me all the way."
Kane became annoyed as Railer thought about whether the plan could work.
Even though Kane was a bit rounder, they weighed about the same.
It would be too hard for Kane to pull the skateboard alone, especially on the rough dirt road outside.
But if they worked together, they might make it to the cave Kane talked about.
"I’m the older brother!" Kane insisted.
