Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 133: Stay Safe, Mommy
CHAPTER 133: CHAPTER 133: STAY SAFE, MOMMY
Even though he was surrounded, Vic laughed with a smug look.
"You really think this bunch can stop me? What a joke!"
"Relax! I’m here too!" Thirteen pushed off a branch and jumped down from the tree. He landed right on Vic’s shoulder.
"Sorry, Chantie. I was late. I was eating a fruit."
Chantelle sighed and placed her hand over her face. She motioned for the others to handle Vic. As long as they got the maniac, that was enough.
She pulled out her phone and checked Kane’s signal.
The red dot indicated Kane was still blinking.
Since Kane didn’t seem to be near the kidnapper, she called his number.
She had almost pinned down his location, but she wasn’t sure how close he was to danger. That’s why she tracked them in silence, without calling or sending a message. Chantelle worried a sound or alert might risk Kane’s safety.
The call connected right away.
On the other end, Kane sounded cheerful.
"Mommy, you finally called! I sent you so many messages, but you didn’t reply. I thought no one wanted a sweet kid like me anymore."
His playful whining came through the phone.
"Where are you, Kane? Are you with Rai?"
Chantelle held the phone tightly. Her thoughts were a mess.
She feared the worst—that Kane and Rai were apart and something had happened to Rai.
"Ah, so you found out," Kane said. "That’s right. Your amazing son—me—just saved Rai. Am I cool or what, Mommy?"
Kane praised himself without holding back. His cocky tone came through loud and clear, even from a distance.
That bold confidence was what helped Chantelle feel a bit more relieved.
"Yes, you are! You’re so cool, Kane! Tell me where you are now. Are you safe?"
Chantelle meant every word.
Her little troublemaker had his good moments.
"We’re in a cave, about half a mile west of the cabin. Rai and I are safe. Between you and me, my Lil’ brother is pretty good at roasting potatoes. I don’t want to admit it, but they taste really good..."
Kane lowered his voice like he was sharing a secret.
Right then, Chantelle knew the kids were safe.
"Stay where you are. I’ll come get you after I deal with the bad guy."
"Okay! You can do it, Mommy!" Kane shouted with excitement.
While he was distracted, Rai gently took the phone from him.
"Stay safe, Mommy."
"Sure."
Chantelle felt a warm feeling inside when she heard Railer’s voice.
She ended the call and made a note to ask Kane to upgrade Rai’s phone once everything was settled.
Rai’s phone had been adjusted so he could follow finance and stock updates. Still, Chantelle had forgotten to add a stronger GPS and tracking system.
She paused for a moment to gather her thoughts.
Then she turned around and headed back to the battlefield.
Vic was surrounded, and the golden mesh used to catch Lone Fox was now draped over him.
His face was swollen and bruised.
Chantelle had finally caught him.
From the side, she copied Vic’s smug grin and pressed a button to power up the mesh.
Vic didn’t see it coming. The shock hit him hard, and he dropped to the ground.
At that moment, the mesh tightened and wrapped Vic up.
"How is it? Now do you get how Lone Fox was caught?"
"You don’t play fair, woman!"
Vic was still weak from the shock.
Even though he tried to act tough, the bruises on his face told the real story.
Up close, they saw sweat dripping from his head.
"Ha! What a joke! Why should I play fair with a killer who targets a kid?"
"You!"
"You’re insane. After what you did to my son, it’s mercy that I haven’t killed you now!"
Chantelle stood in front of Vic and looked him straight in the eye. She pressed the button from time to time.
When Vic passed out, she told Calvin to hang him from the tree.
"Calvin, do we have a setting that makes the mesh shock him every ten minutes..."
Vic, who had been jolted awake, was furious when he heard that.
"Of course. I’ll set it up now."
Calvin got what Chantelle meant right away.
"Thirteen!"
"Here, Chantie!"
"Hang him up. Tie the rope tight—unless you want him to vanish like Kate."
"Okay!" Thirteen snapped his whip and hit a branch, lifting Vic into the air with a pulley system.
He then pulled the rope and tied it off.
"Chantelle, I dare you to kill me!"
Vic had been a killer for years, but he had never felt this humiliated.
He wasn’t just beaten but he was also tied to a tree like a joke.
To him, dying would be better than this.
Chantelle didn’t flinch. She didn’t even look at Vic. She walked over and tied a few more knots to secure the rope.
"You can start now, Calvin."
"Sure, Ms. Bently." Calvin’s voice came from inside the cabin. He closed the switch box.
In the next moment, the mesh on Vic powered up. The LED lights on his body lit up as they absorbed the shock.
Calvin had added a DJ program with music and lights. A happy tune played as the lights blinked.
It looked like a party for the Day of the Dead.
Chantelle was happy with how it turned out.
"Chantelle, you bitch! Argh!" Vic shouted, still choosing insults over pain.
He barked at Chantelle, but before he could say more, Ashton stuffed a light bulb into his mouth.
Everything suddenly went quiet.
"You kidnapped Rai and disrespected Mrs. Wilson. Be thankful I didn’t toss you off the cliff."
"Ugh... Mgh..." Vic’s face turned red as he struggled to breathe through the blockage.
Chantelle gave Ashton a silent thumbs up. She was amused by Vic’s state.
Ashton had done well.
Feeling lighter after letting it all out, Chantelle took out her phone. She opened her chat with Daniel.
There were no replies from him. His location didn’t show up on GPS either.
Chantelle stared at the screen with a frown. She started to feel worry.
"Calvin, take our people and pick up Kane and Rai. Get them home safely. If you see Lone Wolf, don’t fight. Just leave and make sure everyone gets out."
"Sure, Ms. Bently."
"Aren’t you coming with us, Ms. Bently?"
Calvin didn’t rush off. He looked worried as he asked.
"I’ll be back a little later. Thirteen, you’re coming with me."
"Okay, Chantie!" Thirteen lit up. He hadn’t planned on going home, so hearing he was coming along with her made him excited.
