CHAPTER 312: CHAPTER 312: SAFETY COMES FIRST

Thea rushed to wake Chantelle and said anxiously, "Daniel is missing!"

Chantelle, still half asleep, mumbled, "So? He’ll come back eventually, so don’t worry."

"No! Philip called me a minute ago and said he couldn’t reach Daniel. He sounded really worried." Thea pulled Chantelle out of bed and even tried to force her eyes open.

Chantelle sat up and rubbed her face. "Ashton and his men are probably looking for him already. He’ll be fine."

"Aren’t you even a little worried?" Thea asked, clearly more anxious than her.

Chantelle smiled and got out of bed. "Come on, it’s Daniel Wilson. Wherever he goes, he makes a scene. What could really happen to him?"

"You’re right, he’ll be fine since he had his men around him." Thea felt relieved and went back to working on her gowns.

Chantelle wasn’t calm because she trusted Daniel’s skills, but because she had asked Thirteen to follow Trenton secretly and report all his activities.

Thirteen had told her that Trenton had been keeping a low profile these past few days because he had nothing to gain from Daniel at this moment.

After a while, Thirteen called Chantelle and said that Trenton and his men had shaken them off. They didn’t know where he had gone.

Chantelle started to panic.

She even thought maybe Trenton had taken Daniel. But Daniel had already been missing for half a day. If Trenton had really kidnapped him, he would have contact by now.

Would he really go that far and hold Daniel hostage?

"Ms. Chantelle, it’s too dangerous for Thirteen and our men to keep spying on Trenton," Calvin said. He knew she was worried, but he didn’t want their people to get killed.

Thirteen was very close to Chantelle. If something happened to him, she would definitely blame herself.

"Tell them to be careful. Make sure Trenton doesn’t notice them. Their safety comes first."

Calvin nodded, feeling a bit better. He knew Chantelle cared about them.

"Buy me a ticket to Carcosa," Chantelle said after a few minutes.

Calvin quickly refused her order. "You can’t go there, Ms. Chantelle."

Calvin knew Chantelle wanted to go to Carcosa to find Daniel, but he also knew it was too dangerous for her.

"I’ve already decided, Calvin." Chantelle didn’t want Thirteen and their men risking their lives. But she also couldn’t stand not knowing where Daniel was.

She needed to go to Carcosa and find him herself.

"Please calm down, Ms. Chantelle. We’re not even sure Trenton has him. Daniel isn’t someone who gets caught easily."

"No. If I keep thinking Daniel won’t be that unlucky, his situation might just get worse. If Trenton really has him, he won’t keep him alive for long."

The more she thought about it, the more panicked she felt. She had to go to Carcosa now.

Calvin knew no one could change Chantelle’s mind once she had made a decision. But maybe someone else could convince her not to pursue her plan.

"Don’t let the kids find out about this," Chantelle added.

Calvin started typing a message to Kane. He paused for a moment before hitting send.

Ten minutes later, Kane replied.

"Okay."

That was all he said.

Calvin felt a bit relieved. He glanced at Chantelle, who was still clearly worried, and said, "Ms. Chantelle, why not try calling Mr. Daniel again? Maybe he was just busy earlier?"

Chantelle nodded and dialed his number.

This time, the call went through.

She let out a breath of relief when she heard Daniel’s tired, raspy voice.

"Do you miss me, my missus?"

Chantelle used to find that voice annoying. But now, she was just glad to hear it.

Calvin watched Chantelle’s face carefully. He felt relieved when he saw she didn’t notice anything.

But just a few seconds later, a message from Kane popped up on his phone.

"I couldn’t get through. Someone blocked my hack."

Kane had planned to break into Chantelle’s phone and change her contact list. That way, when she called Daniel, the call would go to him instead. He would use a voice-changer to pretend to be Daniel and convince her to drop her plans.

But right after he got into the system, the connection was suddenly cut off.

Mom must have changed her phone’s security settings. She didn’t even tell me!

"This isn’t the time to flirt! Where have you been? Philip’s been going crazy looking for you." Chantelle’s words interrupted Calvin’s thoughts. She had finally reached Daniel, and that made Calvin feel a bit better.

At least now that Ms. Chantelle talked to Mr. Daniel, she wouldn’t insist on going to Carcosa anymore.

"I’m at a resort. Want to come?" Daniel said while staring at the villa in front of him.

"How nice and carefree of you. You just took a vacation without saying a word to anyone?" Chantelle said, clearly annoyed. Everyone had been worried and searching for him, yet he was relaxing at a resort.

Before Daniel could say anything, Chantelle heard a woman’s voice in the background.

The voice sounded familiar.

"Daniel, do you have my hairbrush?"

"Yeah. Hold on, I’ll get it for you in a minute."

She could hear the sound of things being shuffled on the other end. Quickly, a wild thought ran through her head. Chantelle finally remembered whose voice it was.

Natalia Law!

Chantelle remembered the night of the charity banquet. Natalia had shown up, and Daniel couldn’t take his eyes off her. He even smiled at her.

Chantelle sighed and called Daniel again. This time, he picked up.

She had once asked if he knew Natalia. Daniel said she owned a business where he invested a huge amount of money.

She never imagined they were close enough to go on a mountain vacation together.

Daniel was never this careless. Did he really leave with Natalia without even telling Ashton just because he couldn’t control his desire?

The more Chantelle thought about it, the more upset she got.

Calvin noticed the shift in her mood and asked, "Ms. Chantelle, are we still heading to the airport?"

"No. We’re going back to Western Hill Villa."

Calvin saw the color drain from her face. He said, "Why don’t we drop by at the Silver Crest Global District so Philip can check on you? You don’t look well."

"No. I’m fine." Chantelle actually felt great. She was itching to head to the underground boxing gym and hit a few sandbags.

Calvin drove silently for a while. Then he saw someone wobbling along the sidewalk with his head down. "Ms. Chantelle, I think that’s Mr. Nelsen."
