CHAPTER 324: CHAPTER 324: DRIVE FASTER

Thea couldn’t bring herself to jump. At this speed, hitting the sidewalk would surely break something. But if she stayed in the car, she might not make it out alive.

"Ms. Powell!" Ashton shouted, pulling her back to reality. He was already holding Chantelle in his arms.

Thea squeezed her eyes shut, ready to jump until she felt someone grab her waist and pull her back.

She opened her eyes, confused. It was Ashton.

After pulling her inside the limousin, Ashton quickly moved back to the front passenger seat.

Another truck had just slammed into the truck that was chasing them.

Thea shut the car door and asked, "Is it Mr. Wilson?"

Ashton shook his head. "He’s still on his way."

"Then who is it?" Thea muttered to herself.

The truck that had been chasing them managed to swerve past the one blocking it and was catching up again.

But the interfering truck sped up and quickly moved between them, blocking the path once again.

Thea took the chance to get a better look at the driver of the interfering truck. It was Oscar.

After Chantelle, Thea, and Ashton left, Oscar drove Camille back to Sunshine Villa. The road they took was the same one the limousine was on, so they ended up going in the same direction.

That’s when Oscar noticed the limousine was being chased. Without thinking twice, he told Camille to drive home on her own, then found a truck and went after them.

Right then, Rowan called and said reinforcements were ready on Cypress Road.

Oscar just needed to make sure the limousine made it there safely.

However, the ones chasing them were clearly in a hurry to finish their job. They started ramming their truck into Oscar’s.

"Drive faster!" Ashton shouted, telling the driver to hit the gas pedal.

Once they got far enough ahead, Oscar wouldn’t have to worry for them.

But the enemy was prepared. Two cars suddenly appeared out of nowhere, cutting their lane.

Ashton had no choice but to swerve onto another road at the intersection.

He managed to put some distance between them and the truck, but it kept chasing them relentlessly.

Thea was so anxious her hands and feet had gone cold. She held the unconscious Chantelle tightly and prayed in silence.

About twenty seconds later, the limousine was hit hard several times. Thea was thrown around so violently, it felt like her insides were twisted up.

Her head slammed into the window, and blood quickly covered her face.

Chantelle, who had been in her arms, was thrown out of the window and landed hard on the concrete sidewalk.

"Chantie..." Thea tried to crawl after her, but her vision was already fading.

I’ll kill whoever did this! Damn, it hurts so bad...

"Chantelle!" Suddenly, she heard someone calling Chantelle’s name.

She turned her head toward the voice. A figure in a protective suit was hurrying over to Chantelle.

Is this really just a car crash? Or did we land in some Resident Evil scene? she thought, dizzy and confused.

Daniel knelt beside Chantelle. Even with the protective suit and gas mask on, he didn’t dare lay a hand on her as he was afraid that the virus in his body might make things worse.

Goosebumps rose on his arms when he saw the bruises and cuts on her face and limbs.

He thought back to the terrifying moment earlier. If he’d been even a minute late, no, just half a minute late, the limousine would’ve been crushed like a pancake.

His wife, who had just returned to him, would’ve been gone forever.

"Find out who did this!" he ordered. Before, Daniel might have assumed Joseph was behind it.

But he knew Joseph only saw Chantelle as a pawn. He’d use her to go against Daniel, but he wouldn’t go as far as trying to take her life.

He also found out that Chantelle had made a few enemies in Carcosa. He wasn’t sure if Trenton was the one behind this.

But it didn’t matter who did it, Daniel promised he would make them pay a hundred times over.

"Mr. Daniel, your injuries..." the bodyguard beside him spoke up cautiously.

Daniel shot him a cold glare, and the man immediately went silent.

"Dr. Collins is here." The bodyguards surrounding Chantelle stepped aside only when Philip arrived.

Thea wanted to call out, but she had no strength left. Not even a whisper came out.

Hey, don’t forget me! My foot’s stuck under the seat!

"Thea? Thea!"

Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name.

She forced her eyes open and saw a figure in a protective suit rushing toward her, holding a giant syringe in their hand.

What the heck? Are they going to experiment on me?

Thea’s vision blurred, and she passed out.

Philip was startled when she suddenly passed out. He quickly told the bodyguards to get her out of the wreckage.

Meanwhile, Rowan’s men had managed to pull Oscar from his overturned truck. He was badly injured, one of his legs might’ve been broken, and he was unconscious when they reached him.

He was rushed to the best hospital in Easthan.

The truck chasing them had crashed into a barricade and flipped onto its side. The driver only had minor injuries. While everyone was focused on the injured, he crawled out of the wreckage.

But instead of escaping, he tried to set the truck on fire.

That wasn’t something a hired assassin would usually do. It felt more like the act of someone with a deep, personal grudge against Chantelle.

"Stop him!" a bodyguard shouted.

In a flash, a shadowy figure dashed over and landed a powerful kick to the driver’s side, sending him flying eight feet away.

The lighter fell to the ground.

The bodyguard quickly grabbed it and pinned the driver down.

The one who had appeared out of nowhere and kicked the driver away was Thirteen, the silent guardian who had been watching over Daniel from the shadows.

Thirteen was already fuming after seeing that Chantelle had almost died. The driver had picked the worst time to get caught.

"Mr. Wilson, I’m taking this guy with me!" Thirteen called out to Daniel, throwing a quick wink at Russell.

Russell nodded at him. Thirteen picked up the driver and stuffed him in his car.

"Mr. Daniel, he..." The bodyguard hesitated. He wanted to keep the driver for questioning. How else were they supposed to track down the mastermind?

Daniel interrupted him. "Did you take a good look? He’s one of us now."

Daniel’s bodyguards had fought against Thirteen on several encounters, though they never caught a good look at him.
