Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 327: Childish Defense Features
CHAPTER 327: CHAPTER 327: CHILDISH DEFENSE FEATURES
Soon, a group of five armed men stormed into the villa.
The villa’s bodyguards quickly surrounded them from behind, and a fierce fight broke out.
Daniel rushed Stephanie back to the study on the first floor. There was a hidden entrance that led down to the basement.
"Stephanie, go inside. You’ll find the basement at the end of the hallway. Stay there and don’t come out."
After saying that, Daniel quickly shoved Stephanie into the narrow passage.
Stephanie reached out to grab Daniel’s hand, wanting him to come inside with her. But when she turned around, someone burst into the study.
Daniel didn’t have time to shut the door. Instead, he threw himself in front of the entrance to shield it.
The intruders started to fire their guns. Daniel could have dodged it, but he took the shot so he could close the door.
The bullet struck his right arm.
Stephanie was stunned and covered her mouth to keep from screaming. She remembered what the doctor had said that Daniel couldn’t risk injuring that arm again.
She walked down the corridor, tears streaming down her face. When she reached the basement, six bodyguards were already there waiting for her.
"Little Miss," they said, bowing in greeting.
Stephanie quickly wiped her tears and asked, "Is there a security control panel in here?"
The bodyguards led Stephanie to the security control room. On the screen, she saw Daniel fighting in the study. He grabbed a weapon from one of the men and quickly took down the rest.
In another room, several men dressed in black and wearing gas masks entered through the window. Once inside, they opened a bottle. Smoke poured out and quickly filled the whole room.
Daniel and his bodyguards were on their way to that room.
Stephanie had a strong feeling that the smoke was dangerous.
Daniel was almost at the door when Stephanie suddenly remembered the robot bee from Kane.
She quickly released the bee and flew it toward Daniel.
The bodyguards heard the buzzing and tried to swat it, but Daniel stopped them.
He recognized it right away. It was the bee that Kane and Stephanie had made. They had given one to Rai, too.
The bee hovered in front of Daniel, flying in circles like it was trying to guide him somewhere.
"Follow it," Daniel told the bodyguards. He glanced at the closed door, then slowly retreated away.
The bee led them to the easternmost guest room on the first floor.
Suddenly, Stephanie’s voice came through one of the bodyguards’ walkie-talkies. "Watch what I can do, Daddy!"
Daniel knew she was safe in the basement and wouldn’t be discovered. He didn’t mind letting her have a little fun.
He gave the order for all the bodyguards to stand down.
Soon, the entire villa went silent.
The men in black, still waiting in the room filled with poison gas, became restless. Daniel hadn’t shown up.
They tried to contact their team through their walkie-talkies but realized the signals were dead.
Suddenly, loud bangs echoed from outside the room, adding to the tension.
Does Daniel have guns? I thought civilians in Easthan weren’t allowed to own firearms!
They exchanged restless glances, then slowly opened the door.
A drone hovered outside.
As soon as the door opened, it fired a flurry of needle-like projectiles.
They weren’t deadly, but they were sharp enough to punch holes in their gas masks and pierce the skin of a few unlucky men.
The men realized the objects weren’t needles, but they were thin steel blades.
They panicked and ran around for a few seconds before finally shooting the drone down and smashing it into pieces.
They couldn’t stay in the room filled with poison gas for long, so they hurried out through the door.
But after only a few steps, they saw another drone approaching them, and carried something underneath it.
The drone dropped the object right on top of them, then it quickly flew away.
Suddenly, a swarm of wasps burst out of the object and surrounded them.
The wasps swarmed through the cracks in their gas masks, stinging their faces. Their heads swelled up, and they screamed in pain as they stumbled back into the poison-filled room.
Cries of pain and panic echoed inside.
Hearing the commotion, their comrades rushed in to help. After putting on their gas masks, they chased the swarm of wasps toward the back garden.
But within minutes, fresh screams rang out from the garden.
One man stepped into a bear trap. Another was shot in the butt by an arrow from nowhere. One got soaked by a falling bucket of sewage. A charging pig knocked over another, and one unlucky man got mounted by a mastiff in heat.
Stephanie giggled as she played in the security control room.
Her laughter made the bodyguards feel relieved. When the mastiff mounted one of the men in black, one of them quickly covered Stephanie’s eyes.
"Do you wanna play too? You can use the controller. I want a glass of milk," she said, yawning as she walked over to the sofa.
One of the bodyguards quickly brought her a warm glass of milk.
The other bodyguards looked carefully at the control panel and were shocked by what they saw.
"What happened to our security system? I mean, it’s impressive... but why are the defense features so childish?"
The system had been upgraded. There were no more blind spots, and the video quality was much clearer. Still, the bodyguards were puzzled by the colorful buttons on the screen.
Out of curiosity, one of them pressed a button labeled Kitchen–Flour Attack.
Suddenly, a cabinet in the kitchen opened, and a sack of flour shot out, exploding all over a man in black who had just entered.
Then, the bodyguard saw a switch labeled Intensity and raised it to 3.
Boom! The kitchen exploded.
"I didn’t know our security system could do this!" one of the bodyguards said, eyes wide.
The other bodyguards were stunned too as they watched the explosion.
Stephanie took a sip of her milk and then shrugged. "We were bored being stuck at home, so we made a few small upgrades."
Small? The bodyguards all silently agreed that whatever happened, they’d rather upset Daniel than offend these three kids.
Daniel was already ranked below Chantelle in the household. Now, even the kids had a higher rank than him.
"What does this button do? It says ’Bow Wow Attack,’" one of the bodyguards asked, seeing a cartoon dog head on the front gate security panel. Unable to resist his curiosity, he pressed it with excitement.
Daniel’s border collie let out two sharp howls. Within seconds, about two dozen stray dogs came running from all directions. Following the collie’s lead, they tore apart the intruders’ car with their teeth.
