Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 363: She Loves You?
CHAPTER 363: CHAPTER 363: SHE LOVES YOU?
"You have two days to create the special cure," Trenton said as he patted William’s shoulder.
"If you can do it, I’ll build the research center you’ve been asking for," he added.
"Don’t worry. I’ll do my best!" William replied. He had been studying this virus for a long time, so once he saw Daniel, he already knew how to work on the cure.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out outside. Trenton’s expression turned cold. He calmly told Cameron to send people to fight back.
"Trenton, maybe you should leave first. It’s too dangerous here," Cameron said. He knew Trenton had made many enemies over the years, and now that he was vulnerable, they wouldn’t miss this chance to attack.
"You go and get Ms. Amy out of here!" Trenton said as he pushed Cameron away.
Cameron stomped his foot in frustration but left to look for Amy.
"Gather everyone who’s still hiding," Trenton ordered.
Just then, a bodyguard rushed in. "Trenton, the people hiding have been ambushed. It looks like they won’t make it out. There are several groups surrounding us. Mr. Stephen sent his strongest team."
Trenton thought that anyone who followed him would survive, and those who stood against him would be destroyed. But now, Stephen had evidence that Trenton accidentally killed his daughter. Stephen knew about it, and instead of waiting for the authorities to protect Trenton, he wanted to strike first and kill him.
But Trenton wasn’t someone who would die that easily. His skills weren’t just for show. As long as he held on until the police arrived, he believed he’d be safe.
"Trenton, we’ll cover you. You should go first," his bodyguards said. They were losing their territory quickly. Their men were dying one after another. They wanted to run but didn’t dare disobey his orders. All they could do was beg him to escape with them.
Trenton gripped his gun tightly. His aim was perfect and every shot hit its target. The castle’s gates and walls were solid. Even though the enemies had powerful weapons, they were still trapped in the courtyard, unable to break into the room.
"Everyone stay where you are. If anyone tries to run, I’ll shoot them myself," Trenton warned as he pointed his gun around the room. The bodyguards, who had been thinking of escaping, had no choice but to give up and keep fighting.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion from the ceiling. A tall, strong man dropped down from above, and bullets immediately rained down on Trenton.
Thick smoke filled the castle’s living room. No one could see anything.
Trenton stayed alert. When the ceiling collapsed, he quickly pulled a bodyguard in front of him to block the bullet. He managed to dodge the fatal shot.
There were only two bodyguards in the room. One was already dead. The last one saw how Trenton used his own man as a shield without hesitation. In the heavy smoke, he fired a random shot and jumped out the window to escape.
Trenton wasn’t so lucky. A bullet hit his arm. He groaned in pain. Daniel heard it and fired several shots toward the sound.
Once the gunfire stopped, the thick smoke slowly cleared from the room.
Daniel stood up carefully and walked toward the spot where Trenton had been. But when he got there, the place was empty. He looked around and stayed alert.
Suddenly, Trenton appeared behind him and pointed his gun at Daniel.
Daniel noticed the shadow behind him reflected on the marble floor. He quickly crouched to dodge as Trenton fired. The two of them started shooting at each other inside the large castle.
"Trenton, I’ve heard a lot about you. Finally, I get to see you for real," Daniel shouted as he reloaded his gun.
Trenton was in bad shape. His chest wound from Chantelle hadn’t healed. The virus inside him had flared up again. And after being shot by his own bodyguard, he barely had the strength to hold up his gun.
"You hide behind a woman and act like a coward. You’re not even worthy to face me," Trenton said, struggling to shift his position.
The spot where he had been hiding was already full of bullet holes.
Daniel wasn’t easy to handle.
"Chantelle loves me. I’m enjoying it, Trenton. Don’t be jealous. I’m sure you have plenty of women around you," Daniel said as he slowly moved closer to where Trenton was hiding.
From their earlier fight, he could tell Trenton was badly hurt and couldn’t move well.
"She loves you? Are you sure about that?" Trenton shot back. "I remember how she used to cut her own arm every day just to remind herself of the hatred she felt for you."
"The misunderstanding between us is over. Trenton, you can’t provoke me now," Daniel said with a sneer. He quickly stepped back when he saw the barrel of a gun poking out from where Trenton was hiding.
A bullet hit the marble floor near his feet, leaving two holes.
"Misunderstanding?" Trenton said, leaning against the wall and breathing hard. "You pushed her to the edge. She almost died. You even took her newborn child from her. Those are facts. What part of that did she misunderstand?"
The virus in his body was getting worse, making it hard for him to breathe.
When Daniel stayed silent, Trenton kept talking. "Back then, Chantelle asked me how to make you feel the pain she went through. I told her to let it go. But do you know what she said? She said the best way was to make you fall in love with her... so much that you’d lose yourself in it. Then, take everything away from you and leave you with nothing."
Daniel was stunned after hearing Trenton’s words. His chest tightened, and pain filled his heart.
"I heard you’ve already given her everything you own. Looks like her plan’s working perfectly," Trenton said with a loud laugh.
Daniel quickly moved forward and pointed his gun at the back of Trenton’s head.
Trenton stood up slowly and turned around. He looked at Daniel with a mocking and pitiful expression.
"Do you really think Chantelle went to Carcosa to find medicine for you? She came here to see Xander. You didn’t know that, did you? Xander is the godfather of her two kids. Before she came back to you, they were lovers," Trenton said coldly.
