CHAPTER 364: CHAPTER 364: ARE YOU STILL PRETENDING?

When he saw the determined look on Daniel’s face slowly fade, Trenton finally felt a bit of relief.

"Oh, and today, Chantelle came here alone to attack me. Did you really think she came to save you? Have you ever wondered why you’re even here? Is she saving you, or using you to get rid of me?"

Trenton looked at Daniel with his face full of honesty and mockery.

Daniel’s hand shook slightly as he held the gun. He stared at Trenton, unable to believe it. "Is what you’re saying true?"

"Of course. Chantelle went back to you to break up your family. After that, she’ll take her kids back to Carcosa and live happily with Xander. She was afraid he’d misunderstand when he woke up, so she rushed back to explain things to him." Trenton smiled at him and it was full of mockery.

"Are Xander and Chantelle really together?" Daniel asked with his voice trembling as tears filled his eyes.

Trenton looked at him carefully, clearly pleased. He had already heard from his people in Easthan that Daniel cared about Chantelle deeply.

Daniel was a man who believed in love. And Trenton hated people like that.

"Take a look at this." Trenton connected his phone to the TV. Photos of Chantelle and Xander appeared on the big screen.

They sat on the beach, looking at each other with affection. They took his children to the amusement park. They hugged under the moonlight. There was even a photo of them kissing.

Daniel was furious. "She lied to me. How dare she lie to me?"

"Mr. Wilson, I know how you feel. She lied to me too from the start. Otherwise, why would I hate her this much?"

"You and her were..." Daniel’s eyes widened in anger.

Trenton didn’t say much. He simply showed him the photos.

Though they weren’t as close as she was with Xander in the other pictures, it was clear they shared a good relationship.

"How could she? I was poisoned because of her..." Daniel mumbled, lowering his head.

Trenton smirked, but his voice sounded gentle. "At least you’ve seen her true colors now. It’s not too late, as long as—"

"Were you poisoned by her too, Lord Trenton?" Daniel suddenly asked. "Your symptoms... they look just like mine when I was first poisoned."

Daniel was shocked. He had never imagined that Trenton was also infected.

"Yes. I let my guard down." Trenton glanced at the wound on his chest. "She stabbed me with a dagger too. I remembered our past and didn’t want to hurt her. But she wanted me dead."

"It’s just like how cruel she was to me." Daniel’s body swayed, and the gun nearly fell from his hand. He looked completely broken, like he couldn’t hold on anymore.

"Let’s not talk about her," he said, forcing himself to speak calmly. "I’ve always admired your abilities, Lord Trenton. If you ever need my help, just say the word."

"There are plenty of people outside who want me dead," Trenton said as he sat down on the sofa, letting out a tired sigh. "I do have a special remedy... but I’m not sure either of us will live long enough to use it."

"Lord Trenton, you really have a special remedy?" Daniel grabbed his arm as his face lit up with hope.

"Of course. I have the cure. My men developed it. But the person carrying it is in danger. If he doesn’t make it to a safe place, he won’t hand it over."

"I’ll send you back to your country now. Let’s go!" Daniel said as he pulled Trenton toward the door.

Trenton had a smug look on his face. In love, whether man or woman, people always end up as fools.

"Lord Trenton, I can’t just let Chantelle fool me like this. Do you still have the virus? I want her to suffer like I did!" Daniel suddenly stopped and asked.

"She already has the virus in her body," Trenton replied. "There’s no need for you to do it again."

"I stole a bottle of the medicine for her. Now, the doctors working for me are trying to develop the cure for her."

"I let you steal it on purpose," Trenton said, looking smug. "What your people developed can slow down the virus in her body. But if she keeps taking it, her life will be cut short."

"Before this, she kidnapped your doctor, William, to treat me. I heard from her that William was the one who created your medicine. Could she have forced him to give her the real cure?"

"No. Her medicine isn’t from William." Trenton fell silent and walked faster.

After a few steps, he noticed no one was following him. Something felt wrong. He quickly turned and hid behind a pillar.

Daniel saw an assassin sneaking up on them and quickly took him down.

"Mr. Wilson, your skills are impressive," Trenton said.

Daniel frowned. "He must have overheard what we just said."

"There’s nothing to worry about."

Trenton walked past him and cut the assassin’s throat.

A siren wailed outside. Trenton looked serious as he talked to Daniel. "Arrange a plane for us two days from now. As long as you get us back safely, I’ll give you the special remedy."

"Don’t worry about it, Lord Trenton." Daniel reached out his hand for a handshake.

But suddenly, a dagger slipped from Trenton’s sleeve and pierced Daniel’s neck.

"Are you still pretending?" Trenton said in a voice filled with madness.

He thought of using Daniel and Chantelle’s relationship to his advantage, hoping it would help him escape the country.

Daniel had the power to cover up everything in Easthan. If he could get Daniel’s help, he’d be able to return safely.

But he didn’t expect Daniel to act so well. Even he had been fooled.

If he hadn’t seen the police officer who tried to come in but left after spotting Daniel, he wouldn’t have realized it.

"I didn’t expect the vicious Lord Trenton to be such a childish and gossipy person."

"If you’re hoping to get the antidote for Chantelle, forget it." Trenton exposed Daniel’s plan. He knew many people had been trying to kill him these past few days. He just wanted to hide in prison for a while before slipping back to his country secretly.

But now, it didn’t seem so simple. Daniel had bribed the police before he could.

"Lord Trenton, why are you risking your life over Chantelle?" Daniel asked, aiming a gun at Trenton’s chest.

"She didn’t tell you what kind of man I am? I enjoy the thrill," Trenton said as he slowly stepped back toward a bookshelf. He twisted a vase sitting there and walked onto the marble floor. The sound beneath him turned hollow.
