Chapter 411: Could Daniel’s Son Really Be That Naive?
CHAPTER 411: CHAPTER 411: COULD DANIEL’S SON REALLY BE THAT NAIVE?
Kane’s head hit the cabinet, and it made a loud thud. Railer was shocked and felt nervous. He wanted to get down and check on Kane, but he hesitated halfway.
Kane rubbed the spot on his head that hit the floor while he was confused and in pain. He couldn’t understand why Railer was so angry, but he decided it was best to stay away.
"I didn’t know she meant that much to you. Sorry," Kane mumbled after a while, but Railer stayed silent.
In a dimly lit room, a man wearing headphones had been listening to their entire conversation. Beside him stood the woman who had just met with Railer a few minutes ago. She sneered, "See? I told you he’s easy to fool. How smart can a five-year-old be?"
The man shot the woman with a cold look. "You don’t understand. This is our only chance. We can’t afford any mistakes."
"Fine, fine. Are you satisfied now?" she replied, rolling her eyes.
The man turned his attention back to the screen in front of him. From the way the boys talked, it seemed Railer didn’t suspect a thing. But something about it still bothered him.
Could Daniel’s son really be that naive?
"Stop overthinking," the woman said impatiently. "I was the one who raised Railer. He was autistic. He used to ignore everyone around him. Although he’s gotten better, but not that much. Haven’t you talked to the staff at the villa? They all said he’s cold and aloof."
The man’s glare made her lower her voice. "Look, in a family with more than two kids, jealousy and fighting are normal. And since Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were separated for a long time, it’s only natural they’d favor the child they spent more time with. So of course Railer wants to push his siblings away. You said he’s smart for his age, didn’t you? Maybe he’s just afraid his siblings will take his share of the inheritance."
The man was finally convinced. Of course, in a wealthy family, everyone wanted the biggest share. Railer was the rightful heir to the Wilson Group of Companies but now, he had two siblings. Naturally, that would make him angry.
"Okay. Go ahead with the plan," the man said, waving his hand. The woman turned and left the room.
The next morning, Chantelle woke up struggling to breathe. The first thing she saw was Daniel’s handsome face. Then she realized why she couldn’t breathe, Daniel was pinching her nose. Half-asleep, Chantelle swatted at him to push him away.
Daniel couldn’t help but smile at her reaction. "Wake up, sleepyhead. The kids are waiting for you."
"But I’m still so tired," Chantelle mumbled. She had barely slept last night and didn’t feel like getting up at all.
"Then let’s postpone the yacht trip," Daniel suggested.
Chantelle instantly sat up, even with her eyes still closed. "No, we promised the kids we’d go out today. I’ll get up now."
Even though she said that, she didn’t move at all, sitting there as if she had fallen back asleep. Daniel shook his head in disbelief, then scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the bathroom.
"Here, brush your teeth," he said, holding out an electric toothbrush already covered with toothpaste.
Chantelle opened her mouth and started brushing. The moment the minty taste hit her tongue, she felt more awake. She slipped out of Daniel’s arms and began washing her face.
When she noticed him leaning against the door frame, watching her with a smile, a playful idea popped into her head. She suddenly splashed water onto his perfectly clean face. Daniel gasped, and before long, the two were in a playful water fight. Both of them ended up drenched, and the bathroom looked like it had been through a small storm.
After a while, Chantelle felt tired. Her cheeks turned pink as she looked at Daniel, whose toned body was visible through his now see-through white shirt.
"So childish," she said with a playful pout.
"Yes, yes. I’m the kid here," Daniel replied with a grin. "Go get changed before you catch a cold."
Chantelle did as he said. Watching her move around with light, cheerful steps, Daniel couldn’t help but smile.
When they went downstairs, the triplets had already finished breakfast and were waiting, grumbling impatiently. Philip and Russell were also there.
Daniel was usually very punctual, but because of someone, they were running late today.
Feeling guilty, Chantelle hurried to the table and quickly ate her breakfast.
Daniel sat down beside Chantelle and poured her a glass of milk. "Slow down. No one’s rushing you."
"They are," she mumbled between bites.
"So what?" Daniel said, taking her handbag away. "They can wait. Just eat properly and don’t forget to chew."
However, Chantelle kept stuffing her mouth like a hamster as she wanted to finish her food quickly.
About ten minutes later, they finished their breakfast. Everyone gathered in the garden before they left.
"How do I look, Mommy?" Stephanie asked, spinning in front of Chantelle. She wore a light blue skirt and had her hair tied in a ponytail. From a distance, she looked like a little whale.
"You’re the prettiest of them all," Chantelle said with a thumbs up.
Daniel lifted Stephanie into his arms. "You’re as beautiful as always, my princess."
"Really?" Stephanie asked, tilting her chin up proudly.
"Of course," Daniel replied with a smile.
"Stop flattering Steph, Daddy. Let’s go already," Kane said, making a funny face and pretending to be jealous.
Chantelle noticed something was wrong with him. She motioned for him to come closer. "Come here, Kane Bentley."
Kane knew that whenever his mother used his full name, it meant trouble. Quickly, he grabbed Railer’s hand and dashed ahead. "Mommy, Rai, and I will go check the area first!"
Chantelle sighed helplessly and turned to Russell. "Keep an eye on him. He keeps touching the back of his head."
"I’ll take a look when I get the chance. He might’ve hit something," Russell said as he hurried to catch up with Kane.
"Russell can handle everything. Don’t worry," Daniel said as he carried Stephanie in one arm and held Chantelle’s hand with the other.
But Chantelle couldn’t shake off the anxiety that rose in her chest as she watched Kane’s small figure walk onto the yacht.
"We can go tomorrow instead, if you’d rather wait," Daniel suggested gently.
"No!" Stephanie shouted before Chantelle could respond. "You promised we’d go on the yacht today! You can’t break your word. I’ll look after Kane later!"
Chantelle tightened her grip on Daniel’s hand. "It’s fine. If we cancel now, the children will refuse to return to the villa. Just make sure we have more guards with us."
"Hurry up, Mommy! The yacht is leaving!" Kane called out.
