Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 418: It’s Up To You
CHAPTER 418: CHAPTER 418: IT’S UP TO YOU
Daniel gave the bodyguard a meaningful look. The bodyguard quickly understood it, and he continued asking, "Why did you send those two women upstairs?"
The men couldn’t endure the bodyguards’ torture for long. After being beaten, they confessed to everything.
They had sent the two women upstairs for two reasons. First, to find out how many people were on the yacht and whether their four guns were enough to control the situation. Second, they had their eyes on Chantelle and planned to lure her downstairs to the cabin and do unspeakable things to her.
But when the two women reached the deck and saw the bodyguards and the handsome Daniel, they abruptly betrayed the group.
Daniel was furious after questioning the group of foreigners. He immediately ordered his men to throw them back onto their boat, make a bigger hole in its boat bottom, and let them fend for themselves at sea.
While helping the Demacian woman change clothes, Chantelle asked for her name.
She said her name was Linda and that she was from Easthan. She explained that her family always favored boys. Her younger brother was addicted to gambling and other vices. Her parents and brother had even worked together to marry her off to an old man who could pay a two-million-dollar dowry.
Linda refused to let her life be destroyed like that. She secretly took the money she had saved over the years and went to Carcosa to find her older sister, Quinn.
But when she arrived, she discovered her sister was no different from her parents. Quinn had taken all her money and, within a week, had almost sold her to others.
Last night, her sister had seemed remorseful. She apologized and said she shouldn’t have treated her that way. She even promised to take Linda to work with her the next day so they could earn enough to live comfortably in Carcosa.
Linda had no relatives or friends there, so she had no choice but to trust her. To protect herself, she made her face look as unattractive as possible, in case her sister planned to take her to the old man instead of to work.
When the two sisters arrived at the pier, a few Carcosan thugs noticed them. Initially, the men were drawn to Quinn because of her impeccable style. But Quinn had other plans. Her goal that day was to kidnap Kane and Stephanie, and she didn’t want anything to interfere.
She dragged Linda to the water’s edge, washed her face, and told the men that Linda was still a virgin. Then she asked them to take Linda away. She also told them there was a yacht out at sea loaded with gold.
The men were hesitant to let Quinn go at first, but after she whispered something to them, their faces turned pale with fear. In the end, they only took Linda.
The first person Chantelle thought of when she heard that was Trenton. But with Trenton’s current situation, could he still send someone to cause trouble?
Daniel showed up just as Chantelle was wondering about it. He pulled her aside and explained what happened during the interrogation. Chantelle also told him everything Linda had said.
Neither of them knew who the real mastermind was.
"It’s okay. We’ll get Quinn to talk sooner or later," Daniel said, noticing the deep frown on Chantelle’s face.
Chantelle was really feeling down. She couldn’t relax as long as the mastermind was still out there.
That was because she had no idea when this person might do something that could hurt Kane and the others.
"Has your sister contacted anyone recently?" Chantelle asked, determined to get to the bottom of it.
Linda thought for a moment, then answered with a guilty look, "She’s very cautious around me. She rarely lets me go anywhere or meet anyone."
"What are you planning to do now?" Chantelle sighed. Since she had already run into her, she figured she might as well help her until the end.
Linda’s eyes filled with tears the moment she heard that. She almost dropped to her knees in front of Chantelle, but Chantelle quickly stopped her.
"Mrs. Wilson, please take me in. If I go back now, my parents will sell me for money."
Linda was actually sharp. She paid close attention to everything. The moment she heard the bodyguard call Chantelle "Mrs. Wilson," she did the same.
Chantelle couldn’t believe that, even in the twenty-first century, there were still parents who would sell their daughters.
She couldn’t make the decision on her own, so she turned to Daniel for his opinion.
"It’s up to you," Daniel said casually. He clearly didn’t care about Linda.
She was just a weak woman. Even if she had hidden motives, she couldn’t cause any trouble while he was around.
"Then stay here for now. You’ll come with us back to Easthan, but once we’re there, you’ll need to rely on yourself to make a living."
"I understand. Mrs. Wilson, I won’t be a burden! Thank you for saving my life!" Despite Chantelle trying to stop her, Linda still knelt and bowed deeply.
Chantelle quickly stepped aside to avoid it.
"Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s go back," Daniel said as he reached out and took Chantelle’s hand.
Just as Daniel gave the order to prepare the yacht for their return, Linda suddenly spoke up. "I remember now. The night before yesterday, I heard my sister on the phone. She called the person on the other end Fred. From the way she talked, I think they’re a couple."
"Did you hear what they were talking about?" Daniel asked, and his brows furrowed.
Chantelle noticed Linda’s nervousness and gently said, "Take your time. There’s no rush."
"I didn’t dare to come closer, so I didn’t hear everything clearly," Linda said, trying to recall. "But I remember her saying something like, ’Are you really that obedient to her? You’ll just do whatever she says? Just bury them. Why go through so much trouble to get rid of them? What if you get caught halfway?"
Daniel and Chantelle’s faces darkened instantly. The words "Just bury them" clearly referred to Kane and Stephanie.
Railer was lucky to have been raised well and to have such a pure heart. Otherwise, Quinn might have completely won him over and taken him from them. The thought that they could actually lose Kane and Stephanie made Chantelle shiver in fear.
"Let’s go back first," Daniel said, gripping Chantelle’s hand tightly before asking Philip to bring Kane and the others over.
