CHAPTER 420: CHAPTER 420: ACCEPT THE INVITATION

"Give me half of what you brought out from the lab," Philip demanded while puckering his lips.

"That’s a big request," Daniel replied, disagreeing with Philip’s demand. He glanced at Chantelle to see what she thought.

That was when Chantelle suddenly remembered what she had forgotten these past few days. She had promised to give half of the medicine to Lone Wolf. But she hadn’t heard anything from him since then.

What she didn’t know was that Daniel had placed heavy security around her and the children after the incident. Lone Wolf had no chance to come near her and had almost been caught by Daniel.

"I promised to give half of the medicine to Lone Wolf. You can have the rest," Chantelle said, keeping her word even though she was a little reluctant.

"Really? That could be worth billions!" Philip exclaimed, pressing his palm to his forehead and pretending to faint.

Daniel stepped aside. Now he finally understood why Lone Wolf had been hanging around them lately.

He knew Lone Wolf had saved Chantelle and the children before, but he couldn’t ignore the way Lone Wolf smiled whenever he mentioned her.

"We’ll deal with this when we get back," Daniel said. He had already sent the medicine back to Easthan the same day they broke into the lab.

Chantelle agreed. She tried to contact Lone Wolf while Daniel was away, but she couldn’t reach him. So, she asked Calvin to pass a message to Lone Wolf, telling him she would give him the medicine once they returned to Easthan.

"Have you found out who tried to kill Kane and Railer that day?" she asked Calvin.

Chantelle had been trying to get more details from the children, and she also learned a lot by reviewing the security footage.

She discovered that there were two groups of invaders. The first was led by Trenton, who only wanted to kidnap the children, not harm them. The second group came behind Trenton’s men with the intent to kill her children.

Chantelle didn’t tell Daniel what she found, worried it might affect his health.

Calvin looked at her uncertainly.

"Just say it," Chantelle said, frowning.

"Mr. Wilson handled Trenton’s men that day. All of them were on the list, so we couldn’t find out who was really behind it," Calvin explained.

So Daniel knew about this. Why didn’t he tell me anything?

"Is there anything else?" Chantelle asked coldly.

"I also found out that Mr. Wilson had assigned an elite team to protect the children," Calvin said. "But many of them betrayed him. That’s why the children were in danger that day."

Chantelle knew Daniel wouldn’t let the traitors go unpunished so easily, yet she hadn’t heard anything from him lately.

Was he worried about her, or was there another reason?

"I think the same group tried to kidnap the children again," Calvin said.

Chantelle sat silently on the couch. "Don’t let Mr. Wilson know about this. Keep our investigation secret," she instructed.

Calvin nodded. "Mr. Wilson has left the island. I sent someone to follow him, and they saw him visiting the two women in the hospital," he said hesitantly.

Chantelle had almost forgotten about those women. Trenton had used them to distract Daniel and sabotage their relationship by playing with his emotions and decisions. It seemed Trenton’s plan had worked.

Chantelle could still remember Daniel’s expression when he saw the two women. It was a mix of genuine shock and something she couldn’t really understand.

"Do you want me to look into their backgrounds? One of them looks a lot like Mr. Wilson’s mother," Calvin asked.

"There’s no need. Just tell Russell to follow up with the medication so we can return to Easthan soon," Chantelle replied.

She realized she was no longer as affected by Daniel’s actions as before. She didn’t want to know everything about him anymore, nor did she care about the things he chose to hide.

When Chantelle loved him, Daniel didn’t care. But now that she was ready to let him go, his feelings had changed, and he was trying to keep her by his side.

"You don’t need to follow Mr. Wilson anymore. Just focus on finding out who tried to harm my children," Chantelle said.

"Yes, ma’am," Calvin replied.

After he left, Chantelle sat alone on the couch, lost in her thoughts. She didn’t come out until Stephanie came to get her for dinner.

When Chantelle entered the dining room, she saw her three children, along with Philip, Russell, and Alexander. Linda was there too, sitting nervously beside Philip. The moment Chantelle looked at her, Linda quickly lowered her head.

"Linda hurt her hand while cooking for me this afternoon, so I invited her to join us for dinner," Philip explained.

"I thought someone was trying to impress her," Russell teased, making Linda’s face turn bright red.

"You’re welcome to join us for meals anytime," Chantelle said. She knew it must be awkward for Linda to eat with the servants.

"Oh, I’m fine..." Linda stammered.

"Just accept the invitation, will you?" Philip quickly interrupted them.

"I hope you’ve made yourself comfortable on the island. You’re our guest, after all," Chantelle added casually.

"I’m fine, Mrs. Wilson. Thank you for your kindness. I wanted to show my gratitude, so I went to see my sister..." Linda said nervously.

Chantelle gestured for her to go on.

"I didn’t mean to let her go. I just wanted to get more information from her, so you could find the people who hurt the children," Linda explained.

Chantelle didn’t answer Linda right away. She focused on enjoying her meal first. They had considered sending Linda to gather information from Quinn, but they were still unsure if she could be trusted or if she would be willing to do it.

There was a chance the plan could go wrong, and Linda might end up telling Quinn about the island instead. That would only make things worse.

Over the past few days, the island’s security team had been leaking Quinn’s location to Linda on purpose. But Linda didn’t take the bait and never went to visit Quinn in prison. Philip even gave her a chance to leave the island under the excuse of buying groceries, but she refused.

After observing her for several days, Chantelle began to have some faith in Linda’s character. The girl wasn’t naive or cunning. She was simply trying to look out for herself.

Although Chantelle didn’t like the way Linda was relying on men’s help, she was still willing to give her a chance to work for them since Linda hadn’t done anything wrong in the past few days.

Linda thought Chantelle’s hesitation meant she was worried she might meet her sister Quinn and secretly work with her. So, Linda decided to drop the topic.

"Alright. You can give it a try," Chantelle finally said.
