CHAPTER 429: CHAPTER 429: THE AUDITION DAY

Chantelle was about to walk into the room when she heard a familiar, arrogant voice.

She exchanged a glance with Stephanie, both of them lighting up with amusement.

It had been a while since they last saw Camille, and somehow, her presence made the place feel oddly familiar.

"The director said it’s all about the natural beauty for the role. There’s no need for makeup," the girl being scolded replied.

Camille looked at the girl with disgust. "Oh, so you know the director wants natural beauty, not natural ugliness. Have you seen your face? Do you really think you’re beautiful? I don’t think so."

Humiliated, the girl’s eyes filled with tears, and she ran to a corner to wipe them away.

Strangely, none of the others said a word to defend her.

Noticing Chantelle, Stephanie, and Clinton standing by the door, Camille gave them a quick glance. They were dressed in plain clothes, wearing masks and sunglasses, with no sign of anything expensive.

Camille immediately assumed they were just some nobodies trying their luck at the audition.

"Don’t you know Mr. Wilson’s daughter is playing the leading role? You’re crazy for bringing a child here."

Camille instantly disliked the woman, even though her face was covered. Something about her presence reminded Camille of Chantelle, and she couldn’t resist taking a jab.

"I’m sorry. They’re with me. I’m here to audition for the lead role," Clinton said politely.

"That’s not a role for just anyone to play. What, are you ugly? Why won’t you show your face?" Camille sneered arrogantly.

She didn’t see anyone in the room as competition. The way she carried herself, anyone watching might mistake her for the director or an investor.

Everyone in the room gasped when Clinton took off his mask. They all recognized him as the young star who was often trolled online. Meanwhile, Camille couldn’t take her eyes off his handsome face.

"Did you say you’re auditioning for the role of Merlin? What a coincidence. I’m here to audition for Mira. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you get the role!"

Chantelle glanced helplessly at Stephanie. Stephanie shook her head. Her father’s admirer turned out to be weak for good-looking men, too. She thought Camille was in love with her dad, but in the end, she was just like Aunt Thea.

"The director said to pick a rookie this time. She’s not a rookie anymore," someone whispered in displeasure.

"How can she get the role when her acting was so bad?" another person muttered.

Camille frowned, then turned around and shouted, "You’re not the ones who get to decide who gets the role!"

"You can’t decide it either," someone shot back.

"I can’t, but Mr. Wilson can decide!" Camille replied sharply. "And he already promised to give me the role of Mira."

"Who is Mr. Wilson to you? Why would he listen to you?" the girl she had scolded earlier retorted.

Camille looked around with a smug grin, admiring her freshly done nails. "Because I’m Mr. Wilson’s fiancée," she said proudly. "We’re getting married soon."

"You’re lying! Mr. Wilson has a wife! He even confessed to her on camera!" the girl shouted boldly.

"You said I’m lying?" Camille smirked and pulled out her phone. "Go check the Wilson Group of Companies’ official website. I’m sure the news of our marriage has already been announced."

Everyone hurriedly took out their phones to confirm it. Sure enough, the company’s website had a public announcement about Camille and Mr. Wilson’s upcoming wedding next month.

Stephanie showed the announcement to Chantelle. Chantelle briefly glanced at it and told her not to act rashly for now. But Stephanie couldn’t hide her frustration. If her father really married Camille, she swore she’d cause chaos at the wedding and beat them both for her mother’s sake.

Feeling restless, Stephanie told Kane about it. Kane then passed the news to Railer. Railer stared at the announcement for a while before stubbornly saying, "It’s not true. Don’t believe it."

"It was written clearly in the announcement," Kane said angrily. He felt like his father had betrayed them.

Railer rationally explained to Kane, "Was Daddy’s name on the announcement? If it’s not there, then it’s not true. You have to trust him."

"If Daddy dares to betray Mommy, I’ll never forgive him!" Kane shouted furiously.

Meanwhile, the staff began calling people for their auditions one by one. Since Chantelle had arrived late, she was last in line.

Clinton looked at her worriedly and asked, "Ms. Chantelle, are you okay?"

He knew Chantelle was Mr. Wilson’s wife. Daniel had even caused a scene when he confessed to her back then. But after seeing so many unfaithful men in the entertainment industry, Clinton assumed Daniel had already dumped her.

"I’m fine. Just focus on your audition. I’ll take you somewhere after you’re done," Chantelle said casually.

Clinton nodded and began memorizing his lines.

Before long, Camille finished her audition. Judging by her expression, it seemed to have gone well.

"Some people should know their limits. Not everyone is fit to play the role of a beauty," she said smugly.

Tears welled up in the eyes of the girl Camille had scolded earlier. She tried to hold them back and said, "Why are you acting so arrogant when you’re just relying on Mr. Wilson’s connections?"

"I am relying on him. So what? Mr. Wilson spoils me anyway!" Camille said, rolling her eyes.

Then she walked up to Clinton and said sweetly, "Do your best later. I can’t wait to rehearse with you."

"She’s still flirting with other guys even though she already has a fiancé. How shameless," the girl whispered.

Camille’s face darkened when she heard that. She stormed over, slapped the girl hard, and shouted, "Who are you calling shameless? You’re just jealous of me! Jealous that Mr. Wilson loves me! Jealous that I got the role of Mira! I’ve met plenty of bitches like you!"

"I’m jealous of you? Please. Even if you’re Mr. Wilson’s fiancée, you have no taste! Look at yourself in the mirror! You can’t even compare to this beautiful woman with her daughter. And she hasn’t even shown her face yet!" the girl said, pointing at Chantelle.

Chantelle didn’t expect to get dragged into the argument and quickly tried to leave with Stephanie.

But Camille blocked her way. "I can’t be compared to her? Let me see what she looks like! Are you hiding your ugly face behind that mask, bitch?"
