Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 436: I Can’t Decide For Him
CHAPTER 436: CHAPTER 436: I CAN’T DECIDE FOR HIM
Roman glanced around and tried to walk closer, but the bodyguards stopped him. They all worked for Daniel, and their main duty was to keep any potential threat away from the villa.
Roman had been sneaking around the entrance earlier, and the bodyguards immediately confronted him.
"It’s Ruby. I think she’s been acting strange lately. I’m worried she might try to hurt you," he said. After everything that had happened, Roman finally realized that anyone who went against Chantelle would end up in trouble.
People might think he was exaggerating or even crazy, but he really believed it now.
Although he didn’t feel much affection for his daughter, as long as she could secure his wealth, he was willing to help her.
Chantelle raised an eyebrow at his words and gestured for him to go on.
He licked his dry lips and said, "She’s been meeting with Fred, one of Joseph’s men. They’re always whispering about something, but I overheard them mention your name the other day."
Chantelle remembered Fred. She had seen him when she broke into Joseph’s castle. He had tried to kill her ruthlessly before.
"Okay. What do you want from me in exchange for this information?" she asked.
Roman gave an awkward smile and waved his hands. "You’re my daughter. Of course, I want the best for you. I’m not asking for anything in return."
"I’ll only ask once. If you don’t say it now, forget it," she said impatiently.
Roman quickly made his request. "I’m opening a cement factory with Kingsley. Can you ask Mr. Wilson to let us become his company’s supplier?"
"I’m not him. I can’t decide for him. You should ask him yourself," Chantelle replied.
"You’re his wife, so you’re family. Why did you cast yourself out from him?" Roman said, knowing Daniel would grant any request from Chantelle.
"Aren’t you family with Ruby too?" she sneered.
Roman was stunned for a moment, then said bluntly, "Forget it if you’re not willing to help me."
"I’ll find a market for your cement factory. Stop trying to do things under the name of the Wilson Group of Companies. You know how ruthless he can be. If something happens, I won’t be able to save you," Chantelle said. She knew Roman too well, and she was certain he would have already claimed to be Daniel’s supplier.
"Okay," he said, dropping the subject. He chatted with her for a while before leaving.
When Chantelle returned to the villa, she couldn’t stop thinking about what Fred and Ruby might be planning against her.
No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t figure it out, and she felt restless.
"Mommy... Mommy, Jacob’s back. Can you find him a job?" Kane asked persuasively.
Thinking about Jacob’s hacking skills, Chantelle’s mood brightened.
"I’ve already thought of something for him," she said.
"What is it?" Kane asked curiously.
"Of course, it’s his old profession." Chantelle tapped his nose lightly and smiled.
Kane grinned back while his smile turned mischievous.
"Mommy, should we ruin Camille’s filming crew?" Railer asked seriously as he suddenly walked up to her.
She shook her head and said, "The three of you should go to school tomorrow. Don’t worry about adult matters."
Kane grabbed her arm and shook it playfully. Railer sighed beside them, while Stephanie held her milk bottle and sighed tiredly too.
Seeing that none of them seemed interested in going to school, Chantelle said seriously, "I know you’re all smarter than most kids, but don’t get arrogant and think you know everything."
"There will always be people and things greater and better than what you’ve seen. You’ll soon realize there are many others who are smarter than you."
Chantelle wasn’t trying to discourage them, but she knew they would be joining the youth genius class, where they might not be the top students anymore.
"But I’ve already finished reading all the elementary school textbooks," Railer said calmly.
Chantelle showed them the school’s information and deliberately pointed out, "Every student in the youth genius class has a very high IQ. If you don’t pass the entrance test, you’ll be placed in the regular class."
"The three of us have to be in the same class," Railer muttered.
Stephanie nodded. "Kane always gets himself into trouble. We won’t be able to save him if we’re in different classes."
"I’m not a troublemaker!" Kane quickly protested.
Chantelle smiled and shook her head. She told them to get ready for the test tomorrow. Then she changed her clothes and prepared to sneak into Rose Castle again.
She wanted to find out why Fred hated her so much. It didn’t make sense, even if he worked for Joseph. She also wanted to uncover Ruby’s connection to both of them. Why was Ruby so important that Joseph would risk his life to save her?
Chantelle felt that the castle held many hidden secrets, including Kate’s disappearance, Wesley’s death, and the reason why her mother had left.
It was already half past ten at night when Chantelle arrived at Rose Castle. She asked Jacob to block the security system so it wouldn’t detect her, allowing her to slip inside easily. She went straight to the room where Kate used to live.
Unfortunately, the room was empty, with no traces left behind.
As she explored further, she discovered several prison-like rooms hidden beneath the grand castle, making her confused.
They immediately reminded her of Trenton’s laboratory in Carcosa, where he had locked people up for drug experiments.
Just then, she heard voices outside. She quickly activated her stealth cloak and hid in a corner of the room.
Fred was the first to enter the room, followed by a dozen workers carrying furniture. Some of them moved close to where Chantelle was hiding as they assembled a bunk bed.
The bed looked strange. It wasn’t exactly ugly, but it was odd. It had delicate carvings, branded bedding, and curtains made of fine tulle. Yet, it still resembled a prison bunk more than anything else.
The room wasn’t big, and once the bed was set up, Chantelle barely had space to move. She was forced to shift to another corner, standing right under the light.
Fred suddenly turned and looked in her direction. She felt nervous, and her heart was beating unevenly.
He stared for a moment, then said to the bodyguard beside him, "Don’t let anyone stay in that room for now."
Chantelle looked down at her feet, and she pondered.
