Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 441: Daddy, Mommy Is Really Mad Right Now
CHAPTER 441: CHAPTER 441: DADDY, MOMMY IS REALLY MAD RIGHT NOW
It was the first time Chantelle had seen such a large-scale operation, and she was stunned.
At the same time, she realized the difference between her and Daniel. She could only gather evidence against Fred, but in the end, Fred could still find someone to take the blame for him. Daniel, however, could crush everything from the root.
Daniel had collected all the useful and solid evidence, and with that, he completely destroyed Joseph’s power.
Joseph would have to be cautious and think twice before making another move against them.
"Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Wilson said that whoever made you unhappy, he will teach them a lesson," the driver said proudly, glancing at her through the rear-view mirror.
Chantelle looked doubtful. "Are you sure that’s what he said?"
"He, he... well, that’s what he meant. I just added the details."
"Wow, will Uncle Jo lose miserably this time? Will he go to jail?" Kane asked after seeing the news online.
Chantelle wanted to tell him that Joseph was not as simple as he looked. Daniel might have cut off his power, but Joseph would not fall so easily.
She believed there was someone stronger protecting him from the shadows.
"He broke the law, so of course he should go to jail," Railer replied when he noticed Chantelle didn’t speak.
Kane let out a long sigh and lay against Chantelle’s arms. "Mommy, I actually don’t want Uncle Jo to go to jail... I drugged him so many times before, but he never hit me even once..."
Railer opened his mouth, wanting to say something.
But Chantelle spoke first. "We still don’t know the full truth yet. If he’s innocent, he won’t go to jail. But if he’s guilty, then even if you don’t like it, he still has to face the consequences."
Kane nodded. The driver in front said, "Mrs. Wilson is right. Kane, there’s no need to worry too much. Mr. Wilson is always fair."
Fair? He was ruthless and cold-hearted. Chantelle cursed Daniel silently in her mind.
Just then, her phone rang.
Her heart tightened when she saw the caller ID, but she answered the phone calmly. "Mr. Wilson, are you that free lately?"
He had been interfering in all her affairs and seemed to know her every move.
"I should be the one asking you. Why are you helping Joseph online?" Daniel’s tone was sharp, as if scolding her.
Chantelle’s suppressed anger flared up. She let out a cold snort. "I was only stating the truth."
She had asked Jacob to steal the footage from Fred’s car dashboard camera, which proved Fred was involved in bribery. She asked Jacob to upload it online, and Jacob also posted Fred’s video in the dungeon yesterday.
With those videos out, it was clear that Fred had a role in the crime, and they proved bribery was involved.
"You do realize you ruined the whole plan, right? By accusing Joseph, the people behind him would have pushed Fred to be the scapegoat. But now you’ve accidentally shown Joseph might be innocent. They could ask the authorities to reopen the case, and then none of them would be convicted!"
"Mr. Wilson, are you saying you don’t have another motive here? Why should I work with you? I have no obligation to do it!"
"So you think I don’t have my own reasons? Chantelle Bently, what kind of person am I to you? What am I to you?" Daniel sounded hurt.
Joseph tried to kill me countless times. So is it wrong for me to seek revenge?
He wanted to frame Joseph so that the people backing Joseph would go after him instead of Chantelle, making sure nothing would happen to her.
But she didn’t appreciate it at all. Instead, she assumed the worst about him.
"Mr. Wilson, just leave me alone. I don’t need you!" She hung up and noticed three anxious pairs of eyes were looking at her. She took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down.
She was no longer the person she used to be six years ago. She would not let Daniel control her again.
The atmosphere in the car turned heavy, and even the talkative driver shut his mouth.
Kane and Railer both turned to look at Stephanie, hoping she could ease the tension between their parents.
Stephanie glanced carefully at Chantelle and saw that she was really furious. So she secretly sent Daniel a message. "Daddy, Mommy is really mad right now."
Normally, Daniel would comfort Chantelle as soon as he saw a message like that.
But this time, he replied immediately. "I’m very angry too!"
"So, are the two of you just going to stay mad like this? Daddy, I always thought you were a mature and calm adult. I didn’t expect you to be childish," Stephanie texted back.
Daniel replied right away. "I’m just an ordinary person. I can feel sad too."
Stephanie tried to picture Daniel crying because he was sad, but she couldn’t imagine it at all. Her dad was strong and fearless. Could he even be sad?
"Daddy, you should be strong."
"No matter how strong someone is, there will still be times when they feel weak."
"Daddy, do you want Mommy to coax you?" Stephanie glanced at Chantelle. She felt that what Daniel wanted was impossible.
Daniel replied indirectly, "I’m not a child... It’s not that hard to coax me."
So did Daddy mean that if Mommy coaxed him just a little, he would make up with her?
Stephanie gently grabbed Chantelle’s sleeve and said, "Mommy, I feel nervous."
Chantelle snapped out of her thoughts and asked softly, "Why are you nervous?"
"The school entrance exam..." Stephanie’s acting was flawless. Chantelle didn’t notice it, especially since she was lost in her own thoughts.
She believed Stephanie was really nervous. Stephanie’s talent was acting, so at this moment, she didn’t appear unusually smart.
"Don’t be nervous. It’s alright even if you don’t get into the youth genius class," Chantelle comforted her.
Seeing that Chantelle seemed calmer, Stephanie asked softly, "Mommy, I want to talk to Daddy."
Chantelle might be angry at Daniel, but she would never stop the children from contacting him. So she answered immediately, "You can contact him yourself. You don’t need my permission."
"But Mommy, my phone is dead." Stephanie tapped the screen, but it stayed black.
Chantelle paused for a moment. Then she looked at Kane. Kane immediately pulled his phone close to his chest and said nervously, "I don’t want to lend her my phone! Last time she used it, she deleted my apps."
"I’ll watch her while she calls. She won’t touch your apps."
"N... no! I’m not risking it! Those apps are precious to me. They’re my life!" He hugged his phone even tighter this time and shook his head dramatically.
