CHAPTER 442: CHAPTER 442: I’LL GET A NEW WIFE
Chantelle then turned to Railer. His ears turned slightly red, and he whispered, "My phone is broken. It has a blue screen now."
He showed her his phone as he spoke.
It really did have a blue screen. But from the expressions on the children’s faces, Chantelle realized they were doing this on purpose. They wanted her to call Daniel.
"Mrs. Wilson, I... lost my phone!" the driver blurted out, then quickly rolled down the window and tossed his phone outside right in front of her.
Chantelle sighed in defeat. With the three children staring at her enthusiastically, she finally dialed Daniel’s number.
Daniel had been staring at his phone ever since she hung up on him. When he saw her name appear on the screen, his heart started to throb.
He was trying to figure out how to explain the incident to her, so he didn’t answer the phone right away.
Chantelle thought he was purposely refusing to pick up the call, and her nervousness turned into restlessness. She just wanted the call to end so she could say to her children that he didn’t answer.
She didn’t really want to talk to him anyway.
"Hello." When his voice suddenly came through, her heart jumped.
"Is there something you need?" He asked first because he was worried she might not recognize him.
His cold tone made Chantelle’s mood sour instantly. It felt like he thought she had called him for no reason at all. She didn’t want to say another word to Daniel, so she simply handed the phone to Stephanie.
"Daddy, we’re going to take the school entrance exam later."
"Steph, good luck!"
"Daddy, do you know where our school is? Our school is well-established. I’ll let Mommy explain it to you." Stephanie passed the phone back to Chantelle.
Chantelle didn’t want to argue in front of the kids, so she said coldly, "Mr. Wilson, if you want to know more, you should come see it yourself."
"Are you angry with me for not attending their entrance exam?"
"Impossible. You’re extremely busy. There’s no need to bother you."
"It’s my fault this time. I’ll be there next time."
"Mr. Wilson, is there anything else you want to say? If not, I’ll hang up now." She cut him off, ignoring his affectionate promise. She had heard the same words too many times, and now they barely meant anything to her.
"Do you have to be so impatient with me? We haven’t seen each other for over a month."
"What does this have to do with me?" She was annoyed. They hadn’t seen each other because of him. He was the one who avoided her. He left her alone in Carcosa without saying a word.
What does it have to do with me? Why is he blaming me now? He’s always good at twisting things.
"Do you really think it has nothing to do with you?" His voice was cold. He had missed her like crazy back in Carcosa, so to him, it was connected to her.
"Why would you think it has anything to do with me?"
She was furious at his question, and before she could respond, she heard a woman’s voice in the background.
"Daniel, I’ve washed your clothes and put them in the closet. You must be tired from last night. Don’t go to the office today."
Chantelle immediately hung up. Daniel tried calling her back several times, but she declined every call. After a while, the phone finally stopped ringing.
Stephanie could tell from Chantelle’s expression that the call hadn’t gone well. She sent Daniel a message and complained, "Daddy, why are you so hard to coax? Mommy already called you, so why did you make her angry?"
"You’re just a kid. Don’t get involved in our matters."
"You really want me to stop caring? Then I won’t be your spy anymore!" Stephanie raised her voice in frustration.
"You don’t have to worry about it anymore."
"Mommy will really get angry with you. Then you won’t have a wife."
"I’ll just get a new one."
Stephanie’s eyes went wide when she saw his reply. Kane and Railer both gasped and stared in shock.
When their car arrived at the school, Chantelle noticed that Stephanie had left her phone in the seat. She frowned and picked it up. She accidentally saw their conversation.
She stared at Daniel’s latest reply for a moment, stunned. Then she handed the phone back to Stephanie.
Chantelle enrolled Kane and his siblings in an exclusive school in Easthan. The yearly tuition costs more than one million dollars per student. However, if a student did not meet the standards, no amount of money could get them in.
Chantelle appreciated the school’s system. Before going abroad, she had already made an appointment with the principal to enroll the children once they returned to the country.
But when the person in charge learned that Chantelle was the chairwoman of the Charity Association, he tried to offer her a special exemption. He kept thanking her for her contributions and donations to the school, and he promised to take good care of her children.
His attitude made Chantelle doubt the school’s reliability. She questioned the curriculum and everything else. After doing thorough research, she confirmed that the school’s reputation was real, so she still chose it.
However, after she returned to Easthan, the person in charge became cold toward her. He said the children needed to go through the normal procedures.
She could guess why his attitude had changed. There were rumors online that she and Daniel had divorced. But she didn’t say anything. He was only an administrative staff member, not a teacher.
"Hello, I have an appointment with Mr. Lakin, and I’m bringing my kids for an interview." The security guard stopped her at the entrance.
The guard went into the booth to make a call, then came back and told her that Mr. Lakin was busy and she needed to reschedule the interview.
She frowned and called Easton herself, but he didn’t answer.
Before she came back to the country, she had already called to confirm the appointment. Now he was suddenly avoiding her and ignoring her calls.
She believed he was doing it on purpose.
"Please move. You can’t block the school entrance." The security guard chased them away rudely.
