Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 444: Stop Pretending!
CHAPTER 444: CHAPTER 444: STOP PRETENDING!
Chantelle looked at him curiously. He was overweight with a big belly, and he wore thick, unflattering glasses. His face was so oily it almost shone.
For such a beautiful school to have someone like him in charge, Chantelle started to question whether she should let her children study here.
"Who is causing a scene at the school gate? If my son’s studies are affected, who will take responsibility?" Easton said.
Right after Easton spoke, several luxury cars pulled up in front of the school. A group of furious, wealthy women stepped out.
The woman from earlier had only been pretending to be rich. These women were the real wealthy ladies.
Chantelle even saw Nancy among the crowd.
Nancy was surprised to see her. They had not met in a long time. Chantelle had once saved Nancy and her boyfriend, and she helped them get back their shares from the Morgan Group. Nancy had never had the chance to properly thank her.
Nancy wanted to walk over, but Chantelle shook her head, signaling her not to get involved.
"Tell me, who gave you the nerve to cause such a scene at the school gate? Do you know who the children studying here are?"
"Oh? Isn’t this Mr. Wilson’s ex-wife? Even he couldn’t get your children enrolled. This school only accepts geniuses."
"Mr. Wilson is marrying Ms. Nelsen. Who do you think you are now?"
Chantelle memorized their faces. She cut them off and said, "Ever since I left Easthan, I’ve relied on myself. Even if I really divorced Mr. Wilson, I’m still far more capable than all of you."
Two of the women were nervous. Chantelle continued, "Aren’t all of you just housewives? Why don’t you call your husbands and ask whether you should be picking a fight with me?"
"The Bently Corporation is bankrupt. You’re nothing without Mr. Wilson!" one of them shouted back.
Chantelle stared straight into the woman’s eyes until the woman finally lowered her head and looked away.
"Are you sure you want to test my abilities by provoking me?"
"Hmph, stop pretending. You’re just bluffing!" another woman commented.
Chantelle raised an eyebrow. She tapped the Bluetooth earpiece in her ear and let out a small laugh. "Your husband is Mr. Martin, isn’t he? The Martin family is well-known for their sauce business. So tell me, what’s the worst that could happen to a family like that?"
"We’re law-abiding citizens. We’re not afraid of anything!" the woman replied.
Chantelle crossed her arms and looked at the woman casually. Just then, the woman’s phone rang. She rushed to answer it.
"What the fuck did you do? Our company was just found to have a food safety problem! The hard work of several generations is ruined!" the man on the phone yelled.
The woman’s face went pale. She collapsed to her knees and begged, "I was wrong. I’m sorry. I was really wrong. Please forgive me!"
At the same time, the other women also received calls from their husbands. Each of them was scolded for causing trouble that affected their family businesses.
The women who hadn’t gotten calls yet stared at Chantelle with fear. To them, she looked like a deadly snake that could strike whenever she wanted.
In such a short time, she had managed to cause serious problems for four or five companies. An ordinary woman could never do something like that.
Some of them even began to doubt whether she had actually divorced Daniel. Otherwise, how could she pull this off?
"Remember this. I am not someone you should mess with. I don’t rely on anyone. I am capable on my own. Don’t think you can control me in any way."
She looked directly at the people who were secretly recording her.
"Chantelle, why are you here?" A BMW suddenly stopped at the school gates. An older man in his fifties stepped out of the car. His face lit up the moment he saw Chantelle, and his smile became warmer when he saw Kane and Stephanie beside her.
"Mr. Gibbs." Chantelle was surprised to see Simon there. They had met at a literary exchange abroad. She had written a novel and won several awards overseas, and Simon once joked that he was her fan.
Simon had held several events abroad and invited her to all of them. But she only attended twice, bringing Kane and Stephanie along.
Simon liked the two children very much and wanted to take them as his students. But at that time, Chantelle was filled with resentment and wasn’t ready to return to Easthan. So she declined his offer.
She never expected that in the end, she would send both of them, along with Railer, to Simon.
"I’ve heard about your school for a long time," she said. "So I brought them to take the entrance exam today."
Simon looked back and forth between Kane and Railer. He stroked his beard and asked Kane, "Hey, kid, do you remember who I am?"
Kane nodded. "Grandpa Simon, this is my brother, Railer Wilson."
Simon noticed they looked alike, but their surnames were different. He glanced at Chantelle with a knowing expression, but he didn’t ask for any more information.
"Grandpa Simon, can we study at this school? They wouldn’t let us in!" Kane said. He had already noticed the security guards were afraid of Simon, and Easton was hiding behind them, looking guilty.
So he knew that Simon had a huge influence in the school.
"It’s an honor for our school to have students as smart as you. But since we haven’t seen each other for a year, I still need to test you all," Simon said with a kind smile, placing Kane and Stephanie on each side of him.
Chantelle noticed and gently held Railer by her side.
"Who stopped you just now?" Simon asked as they walked into the school. His tone sharpened as he looked at one of the security guards.
The guard began to shake, cold sweat forming on his forehead.
"Hey... where did that man go? He was just here," Kane said, looking around for Easton, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Chantelle realized that something was not right. Easton might not be the one in charge of the school.
"Alright, I’ll have someone handle this. All of you, follow me to my office." Simon frowned and waved his hand.
