Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 448: Weren’t You Planning To Replace Her?
CHAPTER 448: CHAPTER 448: WEREN’T YOU PLANNING TO REPLACE HER?
"You can still get jealous now," Daniel said. "For old couples like us, a little jealousy has its own charm."
"Who are you calling an old couple? Mr. Wilson, please watch your words." Chantelle rolled her eyes helplessly.
Daniel let out a soft laugh. His deep voice was smooth and warm, like the sound of a cello. His tone was so charming that Chantelle could practically feel him standing beside her. Her cheeks flushed before she even realized it.
"My mistake. We’re a young couple. My wife will always be eighteen in my heart."
"Mr. Wilson, are you having some kind of personality disorder lately?"
He had yelled at her in their last call because she messed up his plans. Then he even texted Stephanie saying he was planning to replace her. Yet now, he was acting clingy and sweet. If that wasn’t a personality disorder, then what was it?
"Really? Then I must be losing my mind, because every one of my personalities misses you so much."
"Mr. Wilson, save those lines for naïve little girls. Hearing them makes me want to laugh. It’s ridiculous to someone like me."
Chantelle hung up after getting tired of his nonsense.
Daniel stared at the dark screen. His expression slowly darkened.
In the past, even when they argued, as long as he acted shamelessly and flirted with her, she would blush and get flustered. Once she entered that state, their relationship would naturally move forward.
Chantelle’s resistance today was more direct and intense.
There was no way she would say she found him disgusting just because of online rumors or their recent arguments. Something else must have happened that he didn’t know about.
"Godmother made some dessert. Would you like some?" Daisy’s voice suddenly interrupted him.
She walked into Daniel’s room wearing a nightdress and stood in front of him.
Daniel’s eyes shifted from her face to what she was wearing. In the past, he never paid attention to her clothes. But today, he noticed the nightdress was too revealing. It looked more like sexy lingerie than sleepwear.
When a young girl dressed like this walked into his bedroom at half past twelve in the night, it was naturally going to cause misunderstandings.
Daniel blurted coldly, ignoring Daisy’s shy expression. "In the future, knock before you enter my room."
Daisy’s face turned pale. Tears gathered in her eyes. "I’m sorry. I did knock, but you didn’t hear it."
Daniel scolded her, "Just because I didn’t hear it doesn’t mean you can come in. Do you think it’s appropriate to dress like this and enter a married man’s room in the middle of the night?"
He looked at Daisy with disgust, as if she were something filthy. At that moment, he realized this might be why Chantelle had ignored him and refused to speak to him.
"I’m sorry, I..." Daisy covered her face and ran out crying.
Victoria stood at the door. With a scolding look, she said, "Daisy is just a naive little girl. Why did you have to be so harsh with her?"
A twenty-something still a "little girl"? More like a giant baby.
Daniel’s harsh expression softened when he saw how tired and worn out Victoria looked. The words he wanted to throw at her stuck in his throat.
"You should comfort her. Daisy didn’t mean to upset you. I told her to treat this place as her home and to see you like her own brother."
Victoria stood at the door and spoke seriously to Daniel.
Daniel frowned but did not give in. He said, "No one needs to clean my room from now on. I don’t need anyone touching my personal things. Tell her not to enter my room again."
"Daniel, you..."
"You know how Grandpa spoiled me. Since I was a child, I’ve had a proud and stubborn personality. I don’t like being told what to do."
Victoria was shaken by Daniel’s cold attitude, but for the sake of her long-term plans, she had no choice but to leave his room.
When Victoria left, Daniel locked his door and sent a message to Stephanie.
"Baby girl, did you miss me?"
Stephanie was lying in bed reading a script. She heard her phone ring, but she ignored it. The more she ignored it, the more it kept ringing. Finally, she unlocked her screen in annoyance.
She saw Daniel sending her message after message.
"Baby Steph, why aren’t you replying to me?"
"Princess Steph, can you tell me why Mommy is upset with me?"
"Didn’t you say you didn’t need my help anymore?" Stephanie replied, already annoyed just by thinking of Daniel’s last message.
"You’re Daddy’s strategist. Daddy can’t live without you."
Daniel instantly sensed something was wrong when he reread Stephanie’s last reply. He had never said anything like that to Stephanie. He would never say those words. The only explanation was that someone had tampered with his phone.
"Why do you still care what my mother does? Weren’t you planning to replace her?"
Stephanie sent a row of angry emojis.
Daniel’s heart sank. He quickly typed, "Did your mommy see that message?"
"Yeah, she saw everything. You’re in big trouble this time. I’m not helping you!"
Stephanie followed with more bomb emojis. Then she added, "Kane and Rai won’t help you either! All of us are on Mommy’s side this time! Daddy, you better stay abroad and don’t come back anymore!"
"Baby Steph, listen to me. I never said those things. Someone took my phone and sent that message. You have to trust me."
"You won’t have my trust. You are no longer credible. It’s not like you’re the only one who wants to date my mom. Many people want her now!"
This time, Daniel made a video call instead of replying by text.
"Many people want to date your mommy? Who are they?" Daniel asked through clenched teeth when Stephanie picked up the video call.
He felt like something he had worked hard to win was about to be taken by someone else before he even had the chance to cherish and protect it.
"Either one of the Nelsen uncles is enough to crush you. Since you’re planning to marry someone else anyway, it’s fine if we get an extra mommy and daddy."
"Why would you need an extra mommy and daddy? What kind of nonsense is that? Stephanie, listen to me. You only have one dad and one mom. Forever." Daniel said in a strong voice.
"Why are you yelling at me? Go yell at Mommy if you’re so brave!"
Stephanie made a face at the camera before she hung up the video call.
