Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 453: Joseph’s Condition Isn’t Good
CHAPTER 453: CHAPTER 453: JOSEPH’S CONDITION ISN’T GOOD
Chantelle resisted at first. Gradually, Daniel’s touch drowned her in intense desire. Her body felt soft, as if she had no strength left.
In the end, she stopped resisting. With Daniel’s looks and figure, what did it matter if they slept together? She had nothing to lose. She might as well enjoy it.
Under Daniel’s passionate advances, Chantelle accepted the situation and began to cooperate.
Even though it was only a small movement, the way she arched her back made Daniel feel as if fireworks burst in his chest. His actions became bolder. He grabbed Chantelle’s collar and prepared to tear it open.
At that moment, Chantelle’s phone rang. She reached out to get it.
Daniel caught her hand and stopped her from answering the call.
The phone kept ringing. Chantelle became anxious and worried that something might have happened to the children. She bit Daniel’s lip, using his brief shock to slip out of his arms.
Seeing Daniel’s dark expression, she softly explained, "What if something happened to the kids..."
Daniel loosened his brow. He lay on his side, supporting his head with one hand as he looked at her. He felt satisfied while looking at the marks he had left on her neck. Soon, his woman would be his again.
"What’s wrong?"
Chantelle glanced at the caller ID. It was Calvin.
Calvin said, "Joseph’s condition isn’t good. He needs to be taken to the hospital."
Chantelle frowned and looked at Daniel. She remembered his earlier attempt to kill Joseph. She tried to get out of bed to speak with Calvin outside, but Daniel pulled her back into his arms.
Daniel reached inside her collar.
Chantelle moved away and glared at him. She warned in a low voice, "Stop messing around."
She watched as Daniel took the lucky charm from her neck without a hint of emotion on his face.
His eyes darkened. He asked, "Who gave this to you?"
Chantelle ignored him and spoke to Calvin instead, "Take care of Joseph for now. I’ll come over right away."
She ended the call and turned to Daniel. She reached her hand to take the charm back, but he held it tightly. Something in his expression was off. The desire from earlier was completely gone from his eyes.
"Who gave it to you?" Daniel asked again when Chantelle didn’t answer.
Chantelle looked at his slightly angry eyes and asked in confusion, "You’ve seen it before?"
"Answer me first. Who gave it to you?" Daniel stared at her seriously while waiting for her answer.
Chantelle realized something was wrong. She tried to take the lucky charm back by force, but Daniel wouldn’t let go. Instead, he broke the necklace and kept the charm in his hand.
"Daniel, it’s mine! Give it back!"
Chantelle stared at Daniel seriously.
Daniel played with the lucky charm in his hand. The tenderness in his eyes had disappeared. There was now a trace of murderous intent. The way he looked at Chantelle became cold and distant.
Any romantic thoughts Chantelle had were gone as well. Her expression also turned cold.
"This thing will bring you trouble. I’ll keep it for now."
Without saying anything more, Daniel tried to put the charm into his pocket.
Chantelle didn’t want to argue with him. She simply reached out to grab it. The two of them fought for a while, with Chantelle attacking and Daniel mainly dodging. In the end, it felt like Daniel was just teasing her and playing with her.
Feeling mocked and unable to overpower him, Chantelle became furious. Her movements turned more aggressive.
When she threw her first hidden weapon and tried to use an anesthetic to knock Daniel out, he suddenly countered and grabbed her wrist. Chantelle used his force to flip behind him and tried to strike from behind.
Daniel threw her off hard, causing her to crash into the wine rack.
A loud crash sounded as the wine rack fell. Wine bottles rolled and shattered across the floor.
Chantelle lay among the broken glass. She was covered in red wine from head to toe, looking completely disheveled.
"Are you okay?"
Daniel bent down to help her up. The worry in his eyes replaced every other emotion.
Chantelle noticed the lucky charm within reach. She pretended to accept his help. When his hands touched her waist, she suddenly snatched the charm from his hand.
Daniel’s face turned gloomy. He picked Chantelle up and carried her to the bed.
The noise drew the butler and the servants over, but Daniel immediately drove them away.
"Get out!" Daniel shouted.
Chantelle felt a sharp pain in her back only after she hid the peace talisman.
Daniel glared at her and flipped her over. Then he grabbed a pair of scissors and cut her clothes open.
A cold draft hit her skin, and she instantly felt nervous.
"I can do it myself," Chantelle blurted. She was afraid Daniel would take the peace talisman from her while treating her wounds.
The peace talisman was not actually that important to her. Still, she hid it because she did not want Daniel to take her belongings without asking.
It also seemed like Daniel wanted the peace talisman for himself. There must be something more to it.
Chantelle wanted to know the truth. She could not hand it over yet, or she would never find out anything.
Daniel said nothing. Then he tore his shirt into long strips and tied her hands and feet to the bed.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" Chantelle shouted as she struggled. She fought so hard that the wound on her back started to bleed again. The sight was shocking.
"If you continue making trouble, I’ll make you sleep with me," Daniel threatened her. His face showed no emotion, but Chantelle knew he was serious.
He doesn’t love me at all. All those words about loving me were lies. He doesn’t even care.
Chantelle felt wronged. She lowered her head and buried her face in the pillow to hide her emotions. She no longer dared to move.
If he dares to touch me, I will die with him.
Staring at the wounds on Chantelle’s back, Daniel’s expression darkened. A sudden pain rose in his chest. She had been so afraid of losing the peace talisman just now.
Ever since Chantelle saw the photo, Daniel had felt anxious. He silently prayed that the peace talisman did not belong to her. Otherwise, he did not know how he would face her later.
